LeakyLeak: Dual SIM Android Nokia Normandy pic?

Is this what the Android powered Nokia Normandy looks like? This picture appeared on the link below. The Asha like back button seems to be the only physical button on the front.

I’m not quite sure what the resolution is but it’s a different aspect ratio to the more boxy screened Asha 5xx series.

The time says 6:23 but of course this isn’t a Nokia press render. Not sure why the icons are blurred but it may be a good idea due to Nokia’s tactics of slight edits on icons to pinpoint leakers.

Cheers Alvester for the tip!

Nokia Symbian & Meego Support Officially Over

Posted: 02 Jan 2014 09:07 AM PST

Symbian 808

Even though it’s almost been 3 years since the burning platform memo, and the end of Symbian device productions as flagships for Nokia; we still get comments and requests about popular Symbian devices like the N8 and of course the ever popular N9. Unfortunately that era has truly ended now, as the Symbian Signed Team, responsible for managing the Nokia store, and submitting and updating its content announced today that they’re officially “closed”.

This means that we shouldn’t expect to see any new apps available in the store (although you can find them online still, if the community is up to it), and you quite probably won’t see any updates at all; regardless of the promised support till 2016.

Leaked: Nokia Normandy’s Android UI?

Posted: 02 Jan 2014 08:57 AM PST

20140102_155903_791

We’ve heard a lot about what could be Nokia’s first Android device; the Project N/Normandy phone. Above we have an image of what the possible UI might look like, of course this could easily be a faked image but according to the screenshot above. The device is WiFi capable with dual sim capabilities; with a status bar at the top of the device that resembles WP more than Android. Besides that there isn’t much more we can learn from the image.

What do you guys think about it?

Another piece from the GSM Arena folks. I thought this was posted about already but apparently not? Anyway, it’s a nice comparison between the two iconic phablets of 2013. The Galaxy Note 3 and the Nokia Lumia 1520.

In a way, this is Nokia’s great victory here – after years of waiting, we finally have a no-compromise top-end Lumia to cheer about. Those who wanted nothing but a Nokia smartphone that stood its ground against the mightiest smartphones in the world finally got it.

Here’s to 2014 and MS/Nokia continuing to close notable gaps, and innovating further to lead in other aspects.

Nokia wins in GSM Arena’s Smartphone Championship League. Nokia vs Nokia Grand Final.

Voting doesn’t finish until tomorrow but the votes have already poured in for Nokia. The only thing that knocked a Nokia out is another Nokia. These polls are just a bit of fun and entertainment, but nevertheless, it’s always nice to see some recognition.

The final is between the 1520 and the 1020.

Nokia Lumia with Windows Phone 8: Work together using OneNote

This isn’t a promo but a tutorial on using One Note between your Nokia Lumia tablet and Phone.

I do wish there was an option to switch between mobile and desktop view on phone for documents.

Jolla outsells iPhone 5S and 5C at Finnish DNA, 8/10 phones for Elisa Corporate customers were Nokia devices

Jolla_Front

Janne’s got some good news perhaps for fans of Jolla. Over at DNA, it has become the 5th top selling phone, better than iPhone 5S and 5C. As usual, this being Finland, we have to consider the usual as we did for Nokia, which included 1) small population size 2) possible affinity for Finnish things. Having said that, the Finns have also been free to choose their top devices and hence how iOS and Android is so strong there.

Pasting this bit in from Janne’s tip.

Not that this means *anything*. :) But still a nice anecdote. DNA has also been an active supporter of the latest iDevices, even manning a booth for them at the DigiExpo fair, so it is rather surprising perhaps to see iPhone 5S/C so low on the list.

It would also suggest the amount of Jollas DNA received were, contrary to what Jolla led us believe (when appeasing pre-orderers who were angry at retails sales that began before their shipping), not insignificant.

Jolla was fifth on the list after:

1. Samsung Galaxy Trend
2. Samsung Galaxy Y
3. Samsung Galaxy S III 4G
4. Nokia Lumia 520

and before iPhone 5S on the sixth place and 5C at eight.

Apparently Jolla was also DNA’s number 1 selling phone in the price over 300 euros.

The 520 was the only Nokia phone in the top 10 for DNA. For Sonera and Elisa, there are four Nokias in their top 10.

For Elisa’s corporate customers, 8/10 were Nokia devices.
