Closer Look at Lumia Amber Update, Shows Off FM Radio and More Posted: 22 Jun 2013 01:13 PM PDT The Lumia Amber update is supposed to be the answer to a lot of our prayers, prayers that landed on deaf ears at Microsoft; but thankfully Nokia had the common sense to actually do something about them. The biggest two comebacks featured in this update is the much loved and missed FM radio seen above, as well as the always on/glance screen that we’ve seen so much about. The folks at WPC have compiled a list of screenshots of the new settings and features in the update; so check them out below and at the source link. The ability to set the Smart Camera as the default camera app Lumia Amber showing up as the name of the software release, hopefully this’ll mean an end to the horrible update names that Microsoft goes with; where each update involves a 10 digit number. Flip to silence is back!! Yay, no idea why this option was removed in the switch from WP7 to WP8 Check out a bunch more screenshots at WPC |

Australian Peeps: Nokia Charging Plate for just under 20 dollars (AUD) Posted: 22 Jun 2013 06:56 AM PDT The Nokia Wireless Charging Pad for compatible Nokia Lumia devices is available for just 19.98 at dicksmith. Cheap enough to buy several to plop around the house or at work.
It may seem gimmicky at first – which is pretty much what a lot of naysayers feel prior to trying it it and seeing how convenient wireless charging actually is. At direct conversion, it’s about 18.48USD. Over at Amazon they’re priced at $48.79 Via: Reddit |
Joe Belfiore in Finland to work WITH Nokia on building great phones, NOT acquisition by MS. Posted: 22 Jun 2013 12:52 AM PDT Joe Belfiore, who runs the Windows Phone team at Microsoft, recently arrived in Finland sparking speculations from the Finnish media that it’s because Microsoft are buying out Nokia. This was a tip from Janne yesterday:

Ali’s reply:
Now speaking of Belfiore’s tweets, he’s aware of the speculations and tries to clarify:
Still, some could say that’s what Joe Belfiore’s doing and the acquisition rumour/discussion may still be taking place. Source: JB |
