Gallery: Lumia 920 Glamour Shots (Red, Yellow & White) Posted: 09 Nov 2012 11:43 AM PST For some reason there has been a sever lack for actual Lumia 920 images, besides the press shots and reviews most of the pictures show deceiving colors of the devices, so here’s a mini gallery to satisfy your craving (and possibly cause other cravings). Shout out to our man Dean for some beautiful pics! (as usual click on the images to get full the full size gallery)- BTW pictures also taken with a Lumia 920. So has this made your decision any easier, or are you just even more confused? |
Head Scratcher: Windows Phone 8 no Longer Supports FM Radios Posted: 09 Nov 2012 11:19 AM PST Wow, this makes absolutely no sense at all, but for whatever reason the WP developers have decided to remove the FM Radio feature from WP8, meaning that no WP8 devices support FM radio (or even have a FM radio chipset at all). Sure there are plenty of Internet Radio streaming apps, such as the promised Pandora radio, tune in radio, XboX music and of course the amazing Nokia mix Radio; but why on earth would you remove features in a platform upgrade? What is there to lose?
It is possible that Microsoft removed it to somehow increase traffic to the Xbox streaming service, but that seems highly unlikely; FM Radio isn’t a real threat to anyone (I’ve never used it on any of my phones but that’s mainly because all radio stations in Jordan suck). So who said that Wp 7.X would be missing out on all the good stuff? Maybe MSFT did this to make early adopters feel better (that was sarcasm BTW). |
Customers Lining Up Outside At&t Stores for Lumia 920s, Reports of Very Low Initial Stock Posted: 09 Nov 2012 10:59 AM PST What you’re seeing above is an image tweeted by WPDesignTeam that shows customers lining up/queuing outside their local At&t store waiting for it to open for a chance to buy a Lumia 920; of course these lines aren’t as glamorous as you see on iPhone launch days, but it’s definitely a good sign. WPCentral also have a second picture from their local At&t store showing a good 20 or so customers waiting to get their phones (is it just me or si the guy in the white cap wearing an Amazing Everyday lumia shirt?: However customers are reporting that the initial stock per store is VERY low, clocking in between 5-20 devices per store; which is pretty sad for a launch day device, I know Nokia are hard pressed to get these out in time but it’s not a very nice gesture to customers when only the first 5 in line get a phone and the rest have to go home. True we live in an age were showing up in the store is almost optional, with practically every global carrier taking online pre-orders with launch day delivery; but some people prefer the old fashion way of picking it up themselves, or perhaps they just want to get a good hands on before buying? I don’t know how many iPhones Apple usually stocks each store with on launch day, but I’m sure it’s a lot more than 20 per store; I know “Sold Out” sounds sexy making the device more appealing, but let’s work on those actual sales please Other customers are reporting that At&t were refusing to sell the 920 off contract:
Did any of you guys pick up your 920 today? Got any pictures of lines/stories for us? Share them down below!

Lumia 920T (Chinese Variant) Packs Adreno 320 GPU Rather than Standard Adreno 225 Posted: 09 Nov 2012 08:59 AM PST It would appear that the Chinese variant of the Lumia 920, has a couple of differences from its international brother; the major one besides the networks supported would be that the 920T packs an Adreno 320 GPU rather than the 225 which was elected as the unofficial standard for flagship Windows Phone 8 devices. Of course a faster GPU is always better, but seeing as no other WP8 device has the improved processor it doesn’t look like it will be getting much work done besides better power management. |
Nokia Releases 3 New Xbox Live Games for WP7: Parking Mania, Game of life and Jet Set Go Posted: 09 Nov 2012 08:32 AM PST Adding to the already impressive list of Lumia exclusive games and apps, are 3 more fresh releases from Nokia (Developed by EA but published by Nokia). Game of life, Parking Mania and Jet Set Go are all new Xbox live titles available to download now, exclusively for Lumia devices, unfortunately these games much like most Xbox live titles aren’t free, but will set you back $2.99 a pop. Lumia 920 vs. HTC Titan II, Video Sample Posted: 09 Nov 2012 08:26 AM PST Here’s another video comparison, this time pitting the Lumia 920 against the HTC Titan II whose claim to fame is a 16MP camera, although in all honesty it’s not even worth comparing, the winner is obviously the 920. The Titan II’s colors look washed out, and seems to have difficulty focusing on the passing objects, while the 920 just breezes past; also note the impressive OIS action, pretty sweet huh.
