N9Apps: Nineshark – Grooveshark client for MeeGo-Harmattan Posted: 07 Oct 2013 06:40 PM PDT This has been on the radar for a while (not sure if I’ve posted it before) but it recently got a fairly big update, and I felt like it needed to be shared. The UI is impressive if you ask me, and the app is very feature filled. If you’re on the N9, and you use Grooveshark, this is THE app you’ll be wanting.

Blind tests allow people to choose which pictures look best without knowing for certain what phone (or device) shot what. In PhoneArena’s post, the Nokia Lumia 1020 came out so far ahead of the competition. Whilst we’re here, GSM Arena is also doing a comparison. This one includes Z1.
Cheers all for the tip! |

LeakyLeak: Lumia 2520 Tablet Shows off a Kickstand? Posted: 07 Oct 2013 09:37 AM PDT if the latest rumored image is to be believed, what you see above is the reverse side of Nokia’s upcoming Lumia 2520 tablet. The big story being the weird contraption in the middle that could possibly be a kickstand (although I think the gap beneath it looks more like a dock for connecting a the rumored keyboard/power accessory). Also leaked are the “NOKIA” wallpaper images seen before which had a full 1080p resolution.

Finnish town of “Nokia” no more. Renamed “Microsoft”? Posted: 07 Oct 2013 05:52 AM PDT Not sure if this is a prank in real life or just a photoshop joke but according to tipster Joni, there was a town in Finland called “Nokia” but now is no more “signage wise”. Nokian Uutiset, the local newspaper reports below. The translation doesn’t seem to have worked too well from my end again so I’m not going to attempt to mention what’s said there. Cheers Joni for the tip. |
The relationship of Finland and Nokia Posted: 07 Oct 2013 05:48 AM PDT
Quick heads up on a couple of interesting articles. The first one is from Ars Technica. It looks through the history of Nokia and how this impacted on Finland.
The second one is in Finnish. It wouldn’t work directly through a translator and even then, I couldn’t quite make out what was being said. dsmobile said, “ about how Nokia did go down. Very good article if someone is going to translate this to English.”

Multiple colour option for Glance in Bittersweet Shimmer? Posted: 07 Oct 2013 01:59 AM PDT Seem to have missed this from the weekend tips. One of the first things my housemate asked for when getting Glance on his Nokia Lumia 620 was whether it was possible to change the colours of the night mode to something other than red. Red was chosen as it’s easier on the eye in low light during night times, but why not give others the option to change it should they wish (some might even set night mode for longer that way). According to the tweet and screenshot above, Bittersweet Shimmer will enable more colours.
Via @Nazwil8 Cheers Alvester and Prashant for the tip |
