Apple Falls Behind Microsoft, Sony and Samsung in New Consumer Experience Survey

Screen Shot 2014-01-21 at 22.03.52 Mac Rumours reports that in a recent consumer Survey, Apple has fallen behind the likes of Microsoft, Samsung and Sony. Amazon stays consistently on top, achieving an ‘excellent’ rating.

Forrester Research used 7,500 participants who were questioned on retail and customer support experiences.

At the top with 91, Amazon. This is followed by Sony at 83, with Microsoft and Samsung at 82. Apple was at 81.

Windows Phone 8? Windows 8.1? Xbox? Let’s hope the strong upward trend continues.

Javi S. emailed us earlier to let us know that he spotted the Nokia Lumia 1020 on last night’s Teen Wolf. I don’t watch the show so I didn’t see the 1020 myself. @joaoluisc tweeted an instagram video however that shows how extensive the sighting was, all the way down to Nokia Camera, Zoom Reinvented and Xenon flash firing :).

Microsoft through Machinima supposedly promoting Xbox One through incentivised YouTubers?

Something blowing up on Reddit at the moment is how supposedly Microsoft are paying YouTube video makers for producing positive content about the Xbox One. Nothing negative is allowed against Machinima, Xbox One or the games and all this is under NDA.

There’s a load of whooha spreading along the interwebs. ArsTechnica seems to be the only one at the moment with a comment from Machinima and Microsoft:

This partnership between Machinima and Microsoft was a typical marketing partnership to promote Xbox One in December. The Xbox team does not review any specific content or provide feedback on content. Any confidentiality provisions, terms, or other guidelines are standard documents provided by Machinima. For clarity, confidentiality relates to the agreements themselves, not the existence of the promotion.

It’s one thing to incentivise someone to talk about your product. It’s another to prohibit the full disclosure of their opinion about your product. e.g. When YouTube shelled out Nexus phones to popular YouTubers or when Nokia Connects lends trial devices out. With Nokia Connects, they always make sure to tell us that they want to hear our criticisms. Good and bad comments.

I’m not sure if I’m recalling this right but I think I read somewhere that at least in the UK, ‘bloggers’ and the like are meant to say whether their posts are ‘promotional’ material as opposed to just regular reviews. The Office of Fair Trading is at least making sure that any one endorsing another brand has to be open about it (as opposed to genuinely just mentioning something they’re using/liking). The same thing with FTC.

Tom Warren tweeted a link to this video where Bill Gates was asked whether he would come back full time at Microsoft. He says no. He’s going to stick to working in depth at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation but he says he will help part time. Bill already does this as a board member.

The board is working on getting a new CEO and there’s supposedly nothing new to say other than ‘it’s a good board’. There is, as always, a sense of urgency but they want to pick the best person.

Seems Verizon didn’t feel like they leaked enough of the Nokia Lumia Icon/929 and have leaked it again. This time with tech specs.

5″ 1080p, 2.2GHz quadcore, 20MP with 2420mAh battery.16.64H usage time. 18 day standby. 32GB internal memory.

5.39″ x 2.79″ x 0.39″ at 5.86 oz. Approx 166g.

Metal Chassis. Sweet.

Looks a lot thinner in the picture than the specs suggest.
