WP8 swype keyboard

A couple or so days ago, we heard that there might be a a Swype-like keyboard for WP.  Now there was a massive leak for WP8.1 features yesterday, and whilst that excited even some naysayers, hopefully there’s more to come.

We were sent the image above by “Anonymous”. I tried to see if this was seen elsewhere but apparently not. The term “KeyboardSlyd” was attached which brings about 2 results in Danish. Perhaps it’s just meant to be Slyd? (As in slide).

Real/fake? Either way, something along this line is coming regardless. Tom Warren tells a commenter at TV that it’s coming.

Anyway, thanks Anonymous for the tip!

Video: CNET, “Nokia Lumia Icon has the goods”

CNet have got a quick hands on with the Nokia Lumia ICON – which they describe as a shrunken 5″ version of a phone with the capabilities of the Nokia Lumia 1520.

The shape and the colour is said to fit Verizon’s more somber shades. The straight edges mean it can stand up on its own. The curve at the back makes it comfortable to hold.

5″ but still triple column. Smaller but still tappable. 1080p resolution makes everything very crisp.

Jess finds it a little bit heavy/thick/bland for her taste, but she says you do get that really nice camera and fast processor.

BTW, for those finding this ‘heavy’ please compare what they said about the Xperia Z1. Also 5″. The Nokia Lumia ICON weighs in at 167g. The Xperia Z1 weighs 170g.

Another promo for the Nokia Lumia Icon that’s just been launched today.

It’s looking rather slick in the video (device wise) though the promo itself could look a little more than college project MyFirstCGI.

New Nokia Lumia Icon captures life’s special moments, big and small, and plays them back like never before.

As part of the Nokia Lumia Icon launch, NokiaUS have released a video that compares the Samsung Galaxy SIV audio against that from the quadmic Rich Recording Nokia Lumia Icon.

Note how the video quality looks in the Nokia Lumia Icon. It appears to have gone back to the ‘Purer’ more natural colours vs the high saturation we’re used to with Lumia and other competitors.

Just the Icon audio.

IDC: Windows Phone posted the largest increase for both the quarter (46.7%) and the year (90.9%),

Posted: 12 Feb 2014 10:13 AM PST

According to IDC, Windows Phone posted the largest increase for both the quarter at 46.7% and the year at 90.9%. Each of this nearly double the growth of the overall market.

Leading the pack is Nokia with 89.3% of the market, attributed to the expanding portfolio which addresses entry level segments reaching the heights of the high end large screened super camera smartphones.

IDC questions whether Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s D&S can continue the momentum and ‘propel volumes higher’.

Nokia Tout Yet Unannounced Lumia Icon’s Sound Recording in Comparison Against Galaxy S4

Posted: 12 Feb 2014 08:30 AM PST

Verizons-Nokia-Lumia-Icon-929-is-available-in-China

Whatever Nokia are doing with the Icon is beyond me, as the device has been leaked to death, gone on sale in other countries and even reviewed by users all before its been made official. Now Nokia have posted a video comparing the sound recording performance of the Nokia Lumia Icon vs. the Samsung Galaxy S4 in a drag race. The results are pretty impressive thanks to the Icon’s directional mics that only focus on where the camera is pointed; check out the video below for yourselves.

The end of the video points to a product link for the Icon, which isn’t live yet; but expect it to be VERY soon.
