Apparently, the 620 feels ridiculously nice and is said to be pretty premium in terms of functionality, bolstered by Nokia’s app suite, just perfect for its price point. All in all, they’re really impressed

The Nokia Lumia 620 isn’t just loud and colourful, it’s also a pretty good bit of kit. How good? You’ll have to wait for our full review, but for our first impressions enjoy our video and check subscribe to the channel for more of the same.

The Incredible Nokia Lumia 620 coming to O2-UK at just £149.99 with free interchangeable backplates

ENGADGET 620

Engadget reports that the Nokia Lumia 620 is coming to O2-UK at a very pocket friendly £149.99. Engadget also mentions that customers have a choice of interchangeable backplate colours (normally £20) for free.

Three and Virgin Media are also picking up the 620 but don’t have prices yet. The 610 has proven quite popular in the UK so far, let’s hope the Brits give the colourful 620 a chance too. It’s WP8 btw, not WP7.8 as per Engadget title.

Lol, incredible :p.

As soon as I saw Chris’ tip, I jumped at the chance to download TVCatchup that we read about a few days ago. The demo was not planned so I’m pretty much discovering the app as I’m recording it. You can watch high quality FreeView live streams over WiFi or watch normal quality through 3G. App is fully supported in either portrait or landscape view.

Video is recorded on Nokia Lumia 820 (White balance set to fluorescent). Video may still be processing.

I was wondering why I was getting repeat pingbacks on a very old Nokia location story - I thought the spam filter broke. It turns out to have come from TechCrunch who are writing about the Press Release below as Nokia scores another win over Google in mapping by getting Toyota Europe to use Here Maps in their infotainment system.

Toyota is the Latest Major Automotive Brand to Leverage Best-in-Class Nokia Mapping Technology using its Local Search for Automotive

Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced that Toyota Motor Europe is the latest automotive brand to select the HERE platform’s Nokia Local Search for Automotive to power its next generation Touch & Go  navigation and infotainment systems. Nokia Local Search for Automotive is a specifically designed solution developed to fulfill the requirements of the automotive industry.

By leveraging Nokia Local Search for Automotive, Toyota drivers will have fast and easy online access to the latest high-quality industry mapping information and community-generated content – including millions of ratings, reviews and images fed directly into their cars.

The introduction of this service demonstrates how Nokia’s HERE business is continuing to extend its industry-leading portfolio of products to meet the needs of its automotive customers.

“The ability to deliver comprehensive and driver-relevant content tailored to automotive requirements makes the Nokia Location Platform an interesting proposition,” said Derek Williams, General Manager, Telematics & Multimedia, Toyota Motor Europe. “It is an excellent basis for creative location-centric concepts and we are delighted to bring this technology to our customers. Nokia Local Search for Automotive is expected to be commercially available in Toyota systems from early 2014 in Europe, Russia and the Middle East.”

Moving forward, Toyota Motor Europe will collaborate with Nokia to study more services that leverage the Nokia Location Platform, including best-in-class content. Nokia is currently the leading company providing end-to-end mapping, navigation and location solutions for the automotive industry.

“Nokia and Toyota share the same vision of what the in-vehicle location experience should be – immersive, always on. Today’s announcement underlines Nokia’s commitment to providing fresh content and services to the auto industry so it can deliver innovative consumer solutions,” said Eric Fumat, Vice President Sales & Business Development EMEA, Nokia Location & Commerce.

Google reportedly extending Exchange ActiveSync support to July 31

The biggest hit to Microsoft and Windows Phone lately has been Google dropping support for Exchange ActiveSync, the whole base of Microsoft’s awesome social integration with your Google account. We knew existing users wouldn’t have any issues, but it would cause havoc for new users, and most likely existing users who set up a new device. The date this would all happen was to be January 31 2013.

Recently, we heard Microsoft were working to support CardDAV and CalDAV so you can sync your Google Calendar and Contacts with your WP device after, well, today! News has come out today, saying Google will extend support until July 31 2013, to help give Microsoft some more time t0 get WP up to scratch with support for Google Calendar and Contacts.

Although its not the best news (that would be that MS has implemented DAV support already), it does offer some comfort, especially with MWC next month in which we should see a few new WP8 devices.

BB Z10′s Camera No Match For the Mighty 920

Posted: 30 Jan 2013 10:01 PM PST

Low Light Test

Both Gizmodo and Crackberry went ahead and pitched the spanking brand new BBZ10 against the Lumia 920 (and the iphone/S3). Unsurprisingly the 920 was the clear victor; I just never expected the Z10′s camera to be this bad; but once again the 920 has impressed me, now if only I could get Poritco on it.
