Beauty Contest: Jessica Alba Vs. Red Lumia 920, There Are No Losers Posted: 20 Dec 2012 11:48 AM PST She’s at it again, the beautiful Jessica Alba has stolen our hearts with her Lumia adoption (although I’d still love her, even if she used an HTC!); spotted two consecutive days once in London and then in Los Angeles Jessica shows off her stunning red Lumia (to anyone who got any color other than red: HAHA! Me and Jessica Alba are now soul mates ). It’s nice to see that Jessica is actually using the phone rather than being a random spokesperson who only shows it at press events or at the launch (I’m looking at you Nikki). Now all we need is for Instagram to come to WP so that Jessica can drop her iPad for good. |

Apparently launching today in Mexico, here’s the Nokia Lumia 505. Cheers Anonymous for the picture! It looks quite a bit better than the renders. We also got an update from HM that the 920 and 505 are confirmed in Chile.

Game Review: “Haunted: Dungeon of Herwood” Posted: 20 Dec 2012 09:12 AM PST Here’s an awesome game we covered to get you all in the spirit of Halloween (although unfortunately it took a while to get the game through the marketplace qualification so we missed the Halloween coverage). Haunted, Dungeon of Herwood is a fun level based challenge game, where the user has to collect hidden treasure and escape from the dungeon while avoiding rock golems, ghosts, skeletons, and weird flame eating purple creatures.
What really stood out for me about this game were the cute graphics, which are much improved over the sadly low standard of Windows Phone graphics (especially for Non-Xbox live games). Another awesome feature in the game is the “Map of the Month” which has a dedicated map for users to try and beat and compete against other online players by finishing the map in the fastest time possible.
Note: The development for this game has been ready for almost two months now (since Halloween) unfortunately some marketplace issues forced the developers to hold off from publishing it, so even though it’s not Halloween anymore, give it a go.
P.S. Haunted is a game developed by funding from the APPCAMPUS program at Aalto university (the same one that did the space Lumia I belive?) read more here: http://www.appcampus.fi/blog/126-first-appcampus-funded-application-released |
Videos: Nokia Music promo (and creating Playlists on Nokia Music) Posted: 20 Dec 2012 07:51 AM PST
Oh my oh my, what a tease. Yellow Purity Pros. Anyway the video is about Nokia Music starring Dean Pattrick from Nokia. As Spotify still isn’t at the store (: ( )I’m using Nokia Music to listen to music and it is a pretty great service, especially for music discovery. I wouldn’t have heard quite a lot of new songs I’m enjoying now had I not used it (music discovery on spotify is not as good, especially if you don’t know where to start). I was not even aware of the playlist feature. I often just clicked genres. (I wonder why the playlists video just cuts off)

Screenshots: Nokia Lumia 920 NAM OTA Update Posted: 20 Dec 2012 02:34 AM PST Jason has kindly shared some screenshots he’s taken from his Nokia Lumia 920 after the update became available for his device. This is the first time OTA has been available for Windows Phone. I generally prefer to update over PC myself (just out of habit I guess) and I guess that option will be welcome to those without WiFi/Data plans. Jason says his update went without a hitch.
Updates to things like extras, audio etc (Nokia apps) may also appear outside the update (I think my 920 was trying to push some Nokia app updates).

The New 2013 Toyota Avalon Comes with a Qi Charger Pad; Lumia Friendly Posted: 20 Dec 2012 12:03 AM PST I don’t know too much about the Toyota Avalon (wasn’t the whole Avalon line scrapped and replaced with the Aurion?); but at least they’ve gotten one thing right, the new Limited edition will come with a built in QI charging dock to juice up your 920 while driving. Unfortunately they chose to go with an iPhone in the press photos rather than a flashy yellow 920; but whatever. It’s nice to see that Qi adoption is ramping up, I know it’s been around for ages but people are starting to notice now; is this the Lumia effect? Check out the press release below, most specifically the second to last paragraph:
But for the $42,195 price tag, I think I’ll stick to my VW. |
