We’ve seen some brilliant MyDreamNokia concepts in the past, many by our very own reader Edgar Mkrtchyan; well Edgar has created a sort of mashup of all his dream Nokias and fit them into one image, along with one simple question; which do YOU prefer?

Perhaps the Lumia 1002 Phablet phone? Which comes with a monster 7.5″ screen!

Or Perhaps the bold statement making Luis Vuitton #Gold?

Or the 7″ E7 Inspired Slider tablet; the Tab 960??

Or for the camera buffs out there the Lumia 1001, packing the monstrous 41Mp sensor of the 808, with all the glory of the Fabula design?

Or the twistable barrel cam of the 809 Pureview?

Perhaps a little carbon fiber is more to your taste?

Or the curvy almost mercury like Lumia 707

or perhaps one of my favorites, a mix between the beautiful large screens of phablets, and the great optics the Lumia 990; which comes with a 5″ screen and a 16MP camera

*Honestly I can’t find the original post for the 720 and the 815, so you’ll have to excuse me guys.

So which do you prefer?Sound off in the comments below!

Nokia Update Brings Sleeping Screen To Lumias!

Earlier today we reported that a new update was available for something called “Nokia Accessories”; at the time we had no idea what it actually did. But apparently the latest update brings the much loved and wanted feature of sleeping screens to Windows Phone. For those who haven’t used a S^3 device or an N9, when the device is in standby mode (screen locked) it goes to a low brightness mode showing the time and date, plus some minor details such as alarms or calendar events.

With the latest update once you dock your Lumia on one of the NFC capable accessories (the NFC charging dock and possibly the JBL PowerUp) the screen above will show. Giving you the weather, time, and upcoming calendar events at a glance.

All I can say is thank you Nokia for listening to our wishes, I know a lot of people have been begging for this feature (yours truly included); so it’s great to see it come to; even though it does require an additional accessory to use, we’ll take it.

Edit: It seems you can change the brightness of the screen by swiping up or down, pretty cool!

Thanks for the tip Janne

Video: Nokia Lumia 920 Video Stabilization Tested Against HTC 8X

Looking at this video, you’d think they might have been shot at different times. Whilst the Nokia Lumia 920 strolls smoothly along the ocean, the HTC FauxLumia 8X looks like it’s crashing about in a storm.

I am surprised however that in the video description they say the 8X beats the Lumia 920′s audio.

Nokia “Accessories” Update Available for WP8 Devices

Posted: 27 Dec 2012 01:44 AM PST

I just got an update on my 920 for something called “Nokia Accessories”. Apparently the new update brings the ability to monitor battery status and other settings when the device connects to a compatible charger (Fatboy pillow, PowerUp speakers etc.)..

Growth for Nokia’s S40, Symbian, WP according to statcounter as Apple declines?

The growth of Nokia is tied closely to the growth of Lumia and Asha. Lumia at the high end, which may also to give a halo effect to more budget friendly Asha. Surur over at WMPU recognises the importance of Nokia to WP and has been looking closely at statcounter data over the past 30 days or so which shows Nokia’s Symbian, S40 and WP Lumias all seem to be growing.

What I find most interesting from that data is the fact that Windows Phone even shows up on statcounter – as it is counting the stats not just of current new sales but of all other devices. Hence why it takes a bit of number play to get extrapolated statcounter data to match up with sales info. Growth for Symbian is also very much a surprise since the only new device for Nokia is the Nokia 808 PureView.

I’m not quite sure I’d make the same conclusion about Apple just yet though.

Cheers Dan for the tip!

More “Portico” updates variants for Lumia 820 & 920 appear on Navifirm

Lumia920-Portico-Navifirm

Last week, the Lumia 820 and 920 US handsets recieved “Portico” update for WP8. I just took a look on Navifirm, and what do you know, it seems we have a Christmas surprise. There are tonnes of firmwares now available, so hopefully this means most if not all devices will be receiving an update shortly.

I will let you know the changes I find.
