Possible Upcoming SW Update to 808 Pureview to Bring 12Mp and 9Mp Pureview Options?

Posted: 13 Feb 2013 11:27 AM PST

Marc over at PureViewclub.com has gotten his hands on some screenshots from an alleged update to the 808 (113.010.1508)- a firmware that was being pushed out for a while then pulled back. One of the users with a custom firmware of the same version sent in the following screenshots, showing the 12 and 9 megapixel options in Creative mode (currently only 2,5 and 8 megapixels).

It’s possible that Nokia are tweaking something in the camera for a future update; or maybe testing something out for the rumored Lumia/Pureview Eos?

Nokia Beta Labs Announces WebView Widgets For Nokia Belle Devices; Allows Updating Webpages on Your Homescreen

Posted: 13 Feb 2013 10:56 AM PST

2-2-HomescreenTwitterAndWeather

Nokia Beta Labs have just announced a new trial app called “WebView Widgets” which allows you to add a website to your homesecreen and have it automatically update through the widget; kind of like a dynamic RSS feed I guess.

The Webview widget allows you to see up-to-date web page view directly on your homescreen. You can zoom and pan your favourite page so that a piece of it becomes part of the homescreen.

You can download the trial from the beta labs site over here:

(Still downloading it as we speak, will let you guys know how it goes)

Video: BB10′s BBHub Vs. WP8′s Me Hub Comparison

DSC018 71

As I mentioned a couple days ago, I’ve gotten my hands on the new Blackberry Z10; and I’m taking it out for a spin (feel free to check out my unboxing and inital thoughts over here); anyways I must say some parts of BB10 are very impressive. The BBHub in particular which blends in your general notifications alongside your email accounts, BBM and social networks. I think I covered the differences between the Windows Phone Me hub and the BBHub pretty well in the video down below (if I dare say so myself):

As a Windows Phone fan it is kind of painful to see BBHub beating WP8 in almost every aspect of social integration in the hub (besides the Email; but that’s not integrated in WP hub anyways). Especially since for me (and as far as I gather many other WP users out there) that was one of the greatest “features” in the phone; hell it’s what the smoked by Windows Phone campaign was all about. Instead Microsoft took a step back and removed the “favorite sharing network” in WP8, meaning every-time you want to share something you have to scroll through the whole lost of apps/options, rather than having your preferred network/option as default (any one know why they did that? My best guess would be a patent infringement).

Amazing Weather HD For Windows Phone 8 Updated; Brings LockScreen Notifications and More!

Amazing Weather HD has long been my favorite weather app for both Windows Phone 7 & 8, the in app animations have been second to none; and the overall app is so smooth that it earned itself a spot on our list of MUST HAVE Lumia apps. Well Amazing Weather HD just received a pretty nifty update for Windows Phone 8 (WP7.8 version coming soon) that plasters your weather forecast on the lockscreen, the cooler part is the fact that it can overlay it over changing wallpapers (such as the Bing daily image; with more promised to come).

The latest changelog includes:

- New dynamic lock screens in two themes (Modern, Realistic) with Bing wallpapers image support (more is coming soon).
- New Live tiles with mix and match option for all sizes, small, medium and wide.
- Added Feels Like temperature to app.
- Enhanced Live tile image quality.

You can grab the app for $1.99 at the Windows phone store here:

Nokia Says Windows Tablet In Pakistan Was “Simply an Example of WP UI”

Posted: 13 Feb 2013 05:43 AM PST

Yesterday we saw what appeared to be a Nokia tablet along use the current range of lumia devices at a Pakistan launch. We didn’t really believe it was actually an upcoming product, but seeing how MWC is just around the corner we didnt want to leave anything to chance.
We got in touch with Nokia about the tablet image and below is their reply:

That's not a leak. That is a picture that simply shows WP UI alongside Win8 Tablet UI alongside Xbox UI. They are not Nokia specific products.

So there you have it guys, unfortunately that’s not the real thing, but woo knows maybe we’ll see something similar next week!

Cinemagraphs: From the creatives @1000Heads (#Nokia #Lumia)

Posted: 13 Feb 2013 04:15 AM PST

Here’s a very creative cinemagraph from the folks at 1000Heads (the guys behind WOMWorld/Nokia Connects) as shot on the Nokia Lumia.

It’s easy to do this effect on the fly with a Nokia Lumia and Cinemagraph because you can choose to rub in or out parts of the animated picture that you want to move or stay static.

Have you got any Lumia-made-cinemagraphs to share? Perhaps you’ve seen some lumia-cinemagraphs that have impressed you? Do share and we’ll collate and feature them in a post.

Heads up. If all goes well, we might be popping down Thursday evening to 1000Heads HQ. I’ll let you know more on the day (we’re making some videos on Friday).

Video: MobileBurn chooses Nokia Lumia 820 over Samsung ATIV Odyssey

Posted: 13 Feb 2013 03:02 AM PST

Screen Shot 2013-02-13 at 10.58.51Long time since I’ve seen a MobileBurn Nokia video. In a previous ‘battle’, the 820 went up against the 8S and won. Here, the results are pretty much the same again, with the Nokia being the better Windows Phone to pick over the Samsung.
