Engadget Reviews the Nokia Lumia 620: Precisely what an entry level smartphone should be Posted: 07 Feb 2013 06:08 AM PST
Although the Nokia Lumia 620 is not the flagship, it appears to be getting universally loved because it hits squarely on everyone’s expectations. For the price, you get fantastic performance, design and features which is why Engadget praises is, saying THIS is precisely what an entry level smartphone should be like.
Kudos, Nokia. These are the kind of products we want to see too. Affordable handsets which still pack a punch and can leave consumers delighted with their purchase. No more “cheap Nokias” that are just detrimental to Nokia’s reputation and sales in the long run. Now get this out to the masses. Via Reddit |
China Mobile lists the Nokia Lumia 1000? Nokia Lumia EOS/Catwalk? Posted: 07 Feb 2013 05:48 AM PST It could be a mistake, or it could be a rather premature spilling of new Nokia device news. The first 4 digit Lumia, the Nokia Lumia 1000 apparently appeared on China Mobile’s handset listings. It could be anything from a simple typo or something very exciting. It would be a whole extra tier 10xx above the usual flagship range, 9xx. Nokia Lumia EOS or Catwalk, Aluminium PureView 41MP goodness? What digit designation do you think those rumoured devices will have? Stay in the 9XX range or move up the scale? Update: You guys have also noted the presence of the 910, 719 and 730. There’s also the 822, specifically for Verizon, no? Source: Windows-smartphones.de Via: WMPU

Strategy Analytics: WP overtakes BlackBerry and becomes 3rd platform in US for Q4 2012? Posted: 07 Feb 2013 05:39 AM PST I’m as surprised to read this as you might be, but apparently in the US, Windows Phone overtook BlackBerry in Q4 2012 marketshare.
New WP8′s from Nokia (even with “supply issues”) and delayed BB10 launch may have afforded Nokia and MS an extra gasp of breath but now BB10 is released, competition from Android gets tougher too. MS and Nokia need to pull something huge out of the bag at MWC, and Nokia needs to make sure they MAKE enough of these highly demanded devices and MARKET them properly. Nokia Lumia 720 and 520 passes Indonesian Certification? Posted: 07 Feb 2013 05:11 AM PST Something called the Nokia Lumia 720 and 520 have apparently passed certification in Indonesia. Neither of these handsets have been announced yet by Nokia, nor have their existence been confirmed by other means (leaks or whatnot). The 720 is most likely a WP8 successor to the 710. The 520 – I’m not all to sure if that might stick to WP7.5 like the 510 and 505 or one-up the 620 as Nokia’s new least expensive WP8 (as Nokia tries to drive WP down lower and lower price points – in addition to pushing their flagships higher too of course). Lumiaappdates: PDF Reader 1.1 (WP8) gets new features and fixes. Posted: 07 Feb 2013 03:09 AM PST Joe Belfiore tweeted that the PDF Reader app in your WP8 Nokia Lumia devices has gotten an update. I’m not sure if I’m on the latest version as I haven’t received any update notifications BUT I only just downloaded PDF reader yesterday (I had it on my old 920, restoring apps etc). If I am on the new version, then it still sucks. It’s still can’t open large textbooks (100+MB, 1000PAGE+. I don’t know if it’s loading or if it’s frozen or whatnot.
Cheers Amir for the tip!

Nokia Flame 4g coming to T-Mobile USA in April? Posted: 07 Feb 2013 02:25 AM PST There are reports of a new Nokia handset coming to T-Mobile by the name of Flame 4G. What is it? We’re not currently sure. T-Mobile already has the 820 variant, the 810. The Flame 4G is expected to be slightly under the 810 in terms of specs, with a 4-inch screen, 512MB RAM, 1.0GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera, and 4GB of storage. Kinda like a 620 with a slightly bigger screen and less memory then? Cheers Viipottaja for the tip!
