Posted: 08 Feb 2013 09:01 AM PST

Spotify has been one of those big apps inexcusably missing from the WP8 store, made even less excusable by the fact that it’s available to WP7.X devices. Well all you Spotify fans can rest easy seeing how the app has finally hit the WP8 marketplace in Beta mode.

The popular music-streaming app Spotify is now available for Windows Phone 8. Spotify (Beta, Version 2.0, Free to download, subscription required to play music after trial) lets you choose the music you love, or discover new songs and artists. You can play your own playlist or browse and indulge in the playlists of your friends. Heading offline? Download and play your playlists on-the-go. With Spotify on Windows Phone 8, you don't have to miss a beat. Get it now in the Windows Phone Store!"

Features listed of the Windows Phone 8 version include:

  • Search, browse & play millions of tracks.

  • Explore & play your friends’ playlists, top artists and tracks.

  • Stream over WiFi or 2.5/3G – all your existing playlists are available.

  • Offline playlists – play your music without an internet connection.

  • On-the-fly sync – every track you add to a playlist appears on mobile and computer.

Lumia 920 Plastered All Over At&t’s Facebook Wall

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 08:55 AM PST

I’m not exactly sure how, but I landed on At&t’s Facebook page, where I was surprised with a familiar face; the Lumia 920. the 920 is literally plastered all over their facebook page. I know that might not seem like a big deal; but almost every single post they’ve published since it launched (almost none are actually related to the phone) has the 920 featuring in it. And of course this is going directly to the news feeds of 3.8 Million Facebook users (although most of them probably have hidden posts by At&t :P  ).

I just thought it was cool that although they might not be making as big of an effort to push the 920 as they did with the 900 (I still want to see something like the Beta test campaign); they haven’t completely forgotten that it’s their exclusive device.

(Does anyone know if At&t has any other exclusives at the time besides the 920?- Which if I recall should be ending soon)

Video: Nokia Music+ Reintroduced and Rolling Out Soon

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 08:31 AM PST

DSC01763We heard about the new service launching from Nokia earlier; which for a minimal fee would remove all skips and allow unlimited mix downloads to subscribers. With yesterdays update to Nokia Music Nokia are ready to activate Nokia Music+ which should go online sometime soon; they’ve also remade the original video which introduced Nokia Music+ so give it a second watch down below:

Ubisoft Planning on Releasing More WP Games; Including Rayman Jungle Run and Others.

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 06:39 AM PST

In all honestly Windows Phone has some serious shortcomings when it comes to games, especially if one is perhaps converting from iOS which has some console quality graphics on their games (Arkham City, Infiniti Blade 1 &2 and others). Windows Phone on the other hand gets games that might have “cute” graphics (ragdoll run, Haunted) but nothing that WOWS you. Hopefully that’ll change as Ubisoft have announced/leaked some upcoming titles for WP which include Rayman Jungle Run, Rabbids go phone again and Monster Burner.

Hopefully this is the start of many more to come (chiefly some of the higher graphics/quality games) such as assassins creed and Tom Clancy.

Lumiappdates: PDF Reader for WP8 updated again? (08/02/2013)

The PDF reader just got updated again. I’m not sure if this is any different other than the date it was last updated. Perhaps a minor bug fix?

It’s fine for the usual set of PDFs except huge 1000+page 100+mb textbooks. That doesn’t seem to be something a lot of you guys do apparently. I’m redownloading the same book to my 800 as I know I’ve got some textbooks on there which it can open with Adobe reader (though those textbooks are “only” 600 pages).

Update: Nah, 800 wouldn’t download.

Update: PDF Reader WILL open large textbooks on the 920. But it will take 30-60 seconds to do so which is a bit annoying. Being able to jump to a page number works quickly enough though. Due to the 768×1280 screen, it is possible to read the whole textbook without zooming in. And it crashed. :/

More love for the Nokia Lumia 620. CNet and Pocket-lint give 4.5 stars out of 5!

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 02:21 AM PST

Screen Shot 2013-02-08 at 10.15.25Another day another set of positive reviews for the Nokia Lumia 620.

Yesterday, Engadget praised the 620 and said it was precisely what an entry level smartphone should be.

Now we’ve also got CNET-uk and Pocket-lint awarding it a very high 4.5/5.

Screen Shot 2013-02-08 at 10.19.24CNet’s summary is above. All the good stuff is all about Nokia. The bad? The MS apps bit :p.

Pocket-lint says they loved pretty much everything about the 620 though unlike CNET who says battery life is decent are concerned about the battery life.

Cheers all for the heads up!

Windows Blue for Windows Phone, battery/performance/core app updates delivered through windows store?

Posted: 08 Feb 2013 02:09 AM PST

BLOO BLUE

Have you heard of something called, Windows Blue?

This is meant to be a feature pack for Windows 8 but it’s coming to Windows Phone too.

Also, instead of coming through OEMs, the update will appear through the store (possibly avoiding those testing delays).

Mary J Foley’s sources says Blue would bring updates to things like internet explorer browser, calendar app, mail and bing as well as adding kernel and driver level changes that could improve battery life and performance. Backward compatibility with Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 is said to be a priority. Mary Jo Foley assures us this rumour is pretty solid.
