MNB Touchdown in NYC #ZoomReinvented Posted: 10 Jul 2013 02:08 PM PDT We have landed in New York City! What a beautiful place! This is just a short post to update you guys that we’re safely checked in. The flight with Sam J Pullen was eventful and hilarious. More on that at another time. Oh – the entertainment system on our flight.
Driving to the hotel….NYC Skyline More taxi view

We’re yet to meet up with the crew to possibly organise a set of SIM cards for data use here. Thanks so much for the suggestions in the last post. Apologies for not being able to reply to them (no WiFi on the plane). I’m so excited to see the Nokia folks and can’t wait to get stuck in to tomorrow’s events!

Full Lumia 1020 Specs Revealed, Packs 6 Lenses and 3x Zoom Posted: 10 Jul 2013 01:51 PM PDT
By some trickery and magic UnleashThePhones have gotten their hands on a list of the Nokia 1020′s full spec sheet, so without further ado check it out below: *Main points: 41 megapixels, OIS, 3x Zoom (lossless?), 6 lens camera assembly (like the Lumia 925) Xenon, 158 grams, 2 Gb ram, Rich Recording, 2000 Mah battery

More EOS Camera Grip Leaks, Shows off Dedicated Record/Shutter Button Posted: 10 Jul 2013 01:30 PM PDT We’ve heard a lot about the 1020′s camera case/extended battery, which packs an extra 1020 mAh of charge to the rumored 2000 mAh battery of the phone itself. Well above are a few more shots which show off the actual size of the full grip/case/battery, plus a dedicated shutter/record button up top. You can also see a rubberized grip on the back of the phone (camera side) to help with the grip and what seems to be a tripod stand on the bottom? Either way this is shaping out to be one hell of an accessory (hopefully it has wireless charging as well for “drop and charge”) Via

More EOS/1020 Camera Quality Teasing by Nokia #ZoomReinvented Posted: 10 Jul 2013 01:17 PM PDT Yesterday we posted a picture of which we assumed was a photo taken by the 1020, which showed a picture of 6 balloons floating away tagged with #ZoomReinvented (image below). Well Nokia conversation have just shared a second image of the same scene (seen above) which shows you exactly how far away those balloons were, insane right! I can’t figure out if the picture below was taken at full zoom, or whether it was cropped out (I assume it was taken at full zoom, hence the hashtag) either way it’s pretty remarkable. Only 18 hours to go now. Source |
Official: lumia 925 Headed to T-Mobile on July 17th, Priced at $49.99 Posted: 10 Jul 2013 01:04 PM PDT The Lumia 925 has just been officially confirmed by the Nokia FB page as headed to T-Mobile on the 17th of this month, priced at $49.99 on contract; which is a killer price for a phone this beautiful. I was honestly hoping that the phone would be launched before the 1020/EOS came out to avoid crossing the product cycles and adverts, but since the 1020 is looking to be an At&t exclusive I guess it’s not that much of an issue. So who’s getting one? (also stay tuned for our Lumia 925 review which should be up soon-ish) |
Microsoft to add much needed corporate features with update(s) Posted: 10 Jul 2013 12:44 PM PDT
It isn't uncommon knowledge that Windows Phone is lacking some much needed features either for consumers or the corporate customers. The latter group appears to be on Microsoft's radar as they are preparing a business upgrade to the Windows Phone operating system. The update contains things like:
Some of the above features are much requested by the corporate community so they must be thrilled to see it coming. That is, however, the end of the good news. The update is rumored to be Yes, it is taking a while before it will land. The silver lining here though, is that the corporate update requires Windows Phone Blue (or 8.1) That would indicate that WP Blue is due somewhere Q1 2014, which is what Mary Jo Foley also says. Another nice tidbit is the lengthening of support for WP8 which is extended from 18 months to 36 months. Once again it means 'next year could be Windows Phone's year' I guess. I'm just hoping that 'Blue' or even GDR3 will bring some much needed improvements. Right now, despite this news, it feels like WP is at a standstill. Luckily Nokia is doing their part with every addition to the OS. Source: ZDNet |

Nokia Malaysia confirms Nokia Lumia 1020 name? Posted: 10 Jul 2013 01:31 AM PDT Do you remember before the Nokia Lumia 920 launch, Nokia Malaysia’s Facebook page confirmed the next Nokia Lumia might have a 4.5″ screen? (I can’t find the post atm) It appears they’ve confirmed again, preanonuncement, the name of the Nokia Lumia 1020. Well we’ve kinda already had confirmation from pictures of Joe Belfiore where the EXIF data mentions 1020 moniker. Source: https://twitter.com/Jajai_jeB21/status/354864831469326337/photo/1

Heading out to NYC! #ZoomReinvented Posted: 10 Jul 2013 01:19 AM PDT Hey guys, I’m here in the airport waiting to board the plane bound for New York. If you’re interested in random updates through the journey, you can follow my tweets @jaymontano. I almost wasn’t allowed on the plane due to my ticket saying ‘Jay’ and not my legal name. My real name’s kinda long so everyone (parents/friends etc) calls me Jay. I’m actually Jose Roberto Alvez Montano. Jose Roberto got shortened to Jay R and then just Jay. I think it’s partly a Filipino thing to have so many names. I noticed Sam J Pullen at the checkin: http://instagram.com/p/bk8QtKFeq8/ I realise that I won’t be able to update on twitter until I get a US MicroSIM. Data roaming charges on Orange would cost the same as the flight over to NYC from UK! I must remember to disable data and roaming once the plane takes off. Any recommendations for a carrier? We should be arriving in JFK at around 2pm NYC time. See you soon! Cheers Nokia and Nokia_Connects for bringing us over and organising the bloggers crew again. |
