Lumiappdates: Facebook updated in store – fixes crash? Posted: 18 Apr 2013 03:26 PM PDT
Joe Belfiore tweeted that Facebook has received an update in store. If it doesn’t immediately show up in your tile, go and find the app in the store itself and you’ll see the update option.

Lumia 810 Retired from T-Mobile; to Be Replaced with Lumia 521 Posted: 18 Apr 2013 11:22 AM PDT According to WPC the Lumia 810 on T-Mobile has reached its EOL (End of life), meaning that stores will no longer replenish stocks of it, in fact you can only get one refurbished at the current time. According to a T-mobile gameplan the phone is being replaced with the lower end Lumia 521. Although this might sound a bit weird, it would make sense if T-mobile is truly set to get the catwalk sometime soon; as it would widen their range of WP8 products, rather than just having some high end devices. |
Whatsapp for WP gets new background agent and more Posted: 18 Apr 2013 11:11 AM PDT
Nokia’s been working with whatsapp quite closely to bring all sorts of improved user experiences. The technicalities of this might not matter to most but Whatsapp is getting a new background agent. Previously, Whatsapp had been using the music API so when in use, it would leave a blank ‘streaming’ song. The background agent now reportedly works like every other app for WP. There’s also:

There’s some rumours and comments that I’ve been coming across today saying that the Nokia Lumia 928 might be launched next week, along with the Nokia Lumia exclusive of Instagram (see various posts on Reddit). Something suggesting Instagram coming soon is a comment on Nokia Sweden’s Facebook Page which seems to indicate the app arriving on the platform. I don’t speak Swedish so I can’t confirm that myself.
The comment has since subsequently been deleted. But it shouldn’t come as a surprise since Nokia’s heavily pushing their #2instawithlove campaign to the point where they’ve really got to have this app ready for Lumias or it’ll be rather embarrasing.

Nokia Loses $196 million, Sells 5.6 million Lumias Posted: 18 Apr 2013 10:15 AM PDT In case you don’t have time to read the full report; here’s a wuick overview of Nokia’s Q1 2013 financials that were announced earlier today:
Overall the results are promising as Nokia have limited their expenditures and costs while slowly gaining in the market; sure they’re nowhere near being number one again, but it’s a good start. |

It’s 13:00 CET(+1)/11:00 GMT now and the results for Nokia’s Q1 2013 earnings should be available over at:
This post will be updated accordingly.

Lumiappdates: PDF Reader v1.2.2.1 Posted: 18 Apr 2013 12:00 AM PDT
Yes it’s PDF reader again with another update. Kudos on the team for continually trying to improve their app. However, I think unless it mentions next time what precisely it updated, we’ll just mention this in passing in future or at our facebook page, facebook.com/mynokiablog |
Samsung acknowledges dirty ‘unfortunate’ tactics in writing false hate against competition Posted: 17 Apr 2013 11:28 PM PDT Not sure if any of you picked this up but apparently, good old Samethang (who rose to fame on Apple’s coat tails and are now doing very well on their own and we recognise that) are not content with their huge progress. More underhanded tactics as Samsung has been caught paying fake hate against their competition (in this case, HTCopyPasta). Local investigation is undergoing in Taiwan. Samsung admitted that the ‘unfortunate incident’ did occur. There’s a statement over at TheRegister showing a press release where Samsung agrees they won’t do this anymore.
Whilst there’s a few things that can be learned by Nokia from Samsung’s speedy rise to the top, this is not one of them. Whether it’s undeserved praise for your own products or false hate against the competition, when coming from the company itself, these are just wrong. Unfortunately, these things are rife in the web. It’s hard to tell what’s a genuine comment or not. (Note, these actual ‘paid’ commenters are quite different to fanboys that might do the same job for free but out of the passion for that said company. Not that all fanboys do that. We have experienced some repeated positives in one article here that we became suspicious of and marked as spam (and closed off comments). As much as we love pro-Nokia, we love genuine pro-Nokia things) Sources: PC Advisor | TheRegister Cheers all for the tip!

Came across this story on ft.com whilst looking up stories about today’s Q1 2013 results. They discuss a Nokia phablet (phone/tablet merge) that is supposedly later this year. The size is said to be about the same size as the Galaxy Note but will be more advanced (Galaxy Note or Note II? Also is this size as in foot print or size as in Screen? We all now how much Nokia loves her Bezels, haha). It’s about time, no? As we said before, we don’t just want a bigger Lumia. We want something that takes advantage of that screen realty.
Although Apple’s largest phone is ‘only’ 4″, ft is right in claiming that Nokia is yet to move into the larger screened device market. They also mention a July launch for EOS (details of which can be found here).
