I had other things in my mind when I read ‘Dignitas’ (not sure if that’s due to my medical background or naivety of the pro-gaming world) but Microsoft have apparently sponsored a professional gaming team (League of Legends) with Nokia Lumia 920s which they’re pretty happy with, calling them “Cool phones”.

Is this the Lumia EOS’s Housing?

Posted: 16 Mar 2013 12:21 PM PDT

huge-camera-portWe’ve seen the image above multiple times before, over a year ago in fact; when at the time we thought that this was the N8′s successor. Which instead turned out to be a Symbian device and not a Lumia; but this time around the next imaging beast will definitely be a Windows Phone device.

It doesn’t seem to be too far fetched that this might be the EOS/its shell; the 808 was well into development years before launch (with the actual phone being worked on almost two years before launch IIRC). So a hardware case popping up a year or so before the phone isn’t too hard to believe,

According to the rumors the EOS is supposed to be packing a 41 MP sensor; in terms of material so far the only device that’s rumored not to be the standard polycarbonate is the upcoming Lumia 928 for Verizon, which is supposedly packing an aluminum body rather than PC. Speaking of PC the  material for the shell/housing (I had always assumed this was a silicone case for some reason); but looking at the corners it’s obviously made of something a bit more resilient.

In terms of colors true that the latest range of Lumias have dropped the Magenta color, and picked up Red and Yellow (plus the rare grey) along the way. Of course something as superficial as colors isn’t a major issue; in fact according to some of the rumors I’ve heard the grey 920 was a last minute decision, up to 48 hrs before the launch event so it means nothing.

What do you guys think? will we finally see a Windows Phone to fill the gap in that shell (and our hearts) with a monster sized sensor?

Tip of the hat to Bloob for reminding us about this case :)

I don’t know if this happens to you, but whenever I’m on a train and listening to headphones, the view rushing past from the window somewhat makes me feel like I’m in a music video.

In the video below, a Nokia 808 PureView user sums that up in this very well shot video on his 808. No tripod, no stand, all hand-held apparently.

It looks like video-game footage to me, what with that dreamy somewhat ethereal haze.

Twitter now with image preview support for #2InstaWithLove – Indication of success?

Posted: 16 Mar 2013 04:16 AM PDT

Something that I had wanted when the #2instawithlove campaign started was to have inline image preview for the shots shared to Twitter. Thankfully, third party clients added the support (Gravity and Twabbit getting honorable mentions).

I just happened to notice that Twitter now has support for inline previews. So what this means, in case you don’t know, is that you can click the tweet to get more information, and you will be shown the image. This saves time, as you don’t need to click the link, then go back to twitter. Its not a must, but it is super handy.

Most likely looking way TOO deep into this, but this could be a sign of the success the campaign is having. Now that the app is available to all Windows Phone 8 devices, we should see an increase in the support of the campaign. Hopefully Twitter adding this feature is a positive indication of the campaign, with the next logical step being Instagram itself. (I know its a far jump from twitter adding support to Instagram coming, but I’ve always liked being an optimist!).

Update: It seems that the Official WP Twitter app now also has the previews.

Special thanks to Ørjan for letting us use his tweet for the screenshot!

Storage Check available in new firmware via store update

Storage_Checker_3

So as I told you guys yesterday, there was a new Firmware out for the Nokia Lumia 620, 820 & 920.

I was naughty and got the update on my Lumia 820, to be disappointed that I didn’t have any new features (at least visibly). I then got a Store update prompt for some Nokia System Apps. Surprise surprise, it brought Storage Checker. (I think the actual update was for extras+info).

If you’re on the new firmware, and yet to receive the updates, I suggest scanning the codes on this page using Bing Vision.

Weekend Watch: Hitler tries to use Xbox Music on Windows Phone 8

So a friend of mine, Alvin (you may know him from Unleash The Phones), created a Hitler video (you know the one with Hitler rambling and the funny subtitles?).

The video simply outlines some insane bugs that occur in Xbox Music on WP8, which seems to be caused by the WP companion app on Windows. (I’ve add issues too after using the app – never again will I use it).

I won’t bore you with any more info, go ahead and check it out!

A coulpe of videos from Rankin Film Productions looking first at White Balance and then Creative Studio from Rankin Film productions.

BTW, I also recommend giving ProShot a try. I read a few of our readers mentioning it over the past couple of days and it’s actually really good (Especially manual controls on FOCUS. How cool is that?)
