HTC Incredible 4G Gets First Render, Ready to Debut on Verizon Posted: 12 Apr 2012 01:23 PM PDT HTC already has a new star in USA, the Evo One model shown by Sprint last week and now Verizon is also preparing a new unit, the HTC Incredible 4G. After their last tough quarter, HTC may want to get back to its winning ways and big sales. Models like the Rezound, Rhyme, Sensation XL and XE were far from impressive, but the One series is truly something else… Back to the handset rendered here, the newcomer HTC Incredible 4G might be considered a relative to the One series, but which model is it? Well, let’s think about it: AT&T has the dual core HTC One XL, the dual core version of the One X, while Sprint has the EVO 4G LTE, basically a combo between the One S and One X. Now, Verizon is left in standby, without a One model to play with… but they have the HTC Fireball instead. HTC Fireball (codename) is now known as the Incredible 4G and it packs a dual core 1.2GHz Qualcomm CPU, Adreno 225 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. However, sadly there’s only a qHD screen on board, making this a device that fits between the midrange and high end level. Maybe Verizon still wants to capitalize on the sales of the HD display-packing HTC Rezound, so that’s why they’re holding back from the One series. The appeal here is the combo between Android 4.0 and LTE and maybe a more affordable price than the One rivals. Related posts: |
Vodafone Samsung Galaxy S II Receives Android 4.0 ICS Today; Got it? Posted: 12 Apr 2012 12:56 PM PDT UK’s Vodafone has been offering the Samsung Galaxy S II handsets their Ice Cream Sandwich fix today and if you’re an user you should be lucky enough to get it. The date could change and if the bulk of the customers hasn’t received it today, it’s pretty clear that it’s delayed… anyway, any guys or gals from Great Britain to confirm receiving it? It’s very sad for Vodafone UK if they give people false hopes and then don’t deliver, especially since other British carriers already offered the update for their Galaxy S II units. The new firmware will come both over the air and using Samsung’s crappy Kies software. So, if you don’t spot it during your usual check for OTA updates, try to connect the smartphone to your PC and see if Kies finds it. As you may have noticed Kies is getting a lot hate lately and for all the right reasons. I can’t understand how Samsung manages to sell tens of millions of smartphones and still doesn’t come up with a more viable solution for syncing/copying content. So, anyway did you get Android 4.0 and are you happy with it on your device? How’s the battery life now? Related posts: |
HTC One S Units with Damaged Cases Will be Replaced Posted: 12 Apr 2012 12:46 PM PDT The story of yesterday was the bruising and chipping of the HTC One S case or better said the ceramic coating and now it appears that HTC acknowledges the problem and wants to fix it. Let me remind you what the story is about: some of the early HTC One S buyers (guess they bought them in Germany or somewhere else in Europe) reported that the ceramic coating has started to show scratches. Some say that the sharp edge of the phone is the one to blame, while the micro arc oxidation process that makes the case so tough should in theory not allow such fragility. Actually, when the aluminum is turned into ceramic through micro arc oxidation, it’s supposed to be stronger than stainless steel. However, the coating is not as sticky as it should be on some of the units. HTC is saying that the finish on the One S was tested in laboratories and found to be similar to the one of ceramic, but this doesn’t mean it’s impossible to damage. HTC is also saying that all of the units with chipped coating should be returned to stores within 30 days or so and they will be replaced. If the period has passed you can get the devices fixed under the standard warranty procedure. Let’s hope that this is the only problem of the HTC One series, as the Taiwanese company really doesn’t need a Coatinggate scandal. Related posts: |
T-Mobile HTC One S Launching on April 18th, Special Event Taking Place on that Date Posted: 12 Apr 2012 11:33 AM PDT After Sprint and HTC unveiled the HTC EVO One 4G model, sort of a combo between the One S and One X, now T-Mobile also gets a similar debut, through an event on April 18th. The attendees are promised to be among the first to experience the HTC One S. The event will take place next Wednesday, around a week before the phone is rumored to launch, on April 25th. I have to remind you that the HTC One series debuted at MWC 2012, including the One S, One X and One V models, all of them already selling in Europe for about a week or two. People have already had time to even find cracks in the case of the One S… Anyway, what you’re going to get on T-Mobile is a dual core Snapdragon S4-based handset with a 4.3 inch qHD Super LCD display, 16GB of storage and an 8 megapixel camera, the same as the one on the One X. Sense 4.0 on top of Android ICS and a very slim design (less than 8mm) fill in the rest of the features. I’m hoping for a really good price and I wonder if this model will also get LTE or merely that “4G” that in some places in the USA means HSPA+ actually. Related posts: |
