HTC One X Unboxing – We’re Playing With the 4.7 Inch Tegra 3 Smartphone! (Video) Posted: 13 Apr 2012 05:02 PM PDT HTC One X just come to us for testing purposes and we’re playing with the quad core Tegra 3 version of the handset as we speak. Meanwhile, in some regions of the world, like the USA you’ll get the One X as a dual core Snapdragon S4 unit with LTE, since Tegra 3 has some kind of beef with this connectivity standard. Now let’s see what’s in the box: We’re testing the white version of the One X, that comes with a bunch of manuals, the charger, the microUSB cable and the headphones that are not Beats Audio models. The device feels incredibly light and thin in the hand, especially for such a big fellow, at 4.7 inches. It supports a 720p resolution and runs Android 4.0 with HTC Sense 4.0. The interface has truly changed and it’s much more efficient and fluid now. We have a brand new camera UI and the widget area is also totally changed. The app area also looks different and provides some useful application arrangements and quick access to the Play Store. Other things I must mention are the lack of a microSD card slot, the presence of a 32GB internal memory, a microSIM card slot and a non removable battery. Apparently, we should have had some little metallic key inside the box, but our unit came without it, simply with the recommendation to insert something sharp near the microSIM area to let it loose, much like we did with the iPhones from the past years. More details soon and a full review next week! Related posts: |
Steve Jobs Avenue Unveiled in Brazil, It’s the Address of the Foxconn Plant in Jundiai Posted: 13 Apr 2012 03:28 PM PDT Steve Jobs was honored not so long ago with some memorial days and even a statue in Europe and now Brazil also pays its respects through an avenue bearing the name of the famous Apple guru. The Steve Jobs Avenue was named after the Apple main man, who passed away last year. The idea of this avenue’s name was proposed last year in October, one day after Jobs’ passing and it was approved on March 27th this year. This avenue is situated in the town of Jundiai, in southeast Brazil, where there’s also a Foxconn factory, with the address exactly on the Steve Jobs street. The previous name of the avenue was Miguel Moubadda Haddad, a former mayor of Jundiai and you must know that this is a connection point between Jundiai and Sao Paulo. The Foxconn plant in Brazil already makes iPhones in Jundiai and iPads will soon be produced there as well… Another aspect that you need to know is that Brazil is the country with the highest prices for Apple products on the entire globe. A price comparison website in Germany says that Brazilians pay an average of 28% more on Apple products than any other nation in the world. The problem is the high number of taxes, the import tariffs and charges like the ICMS, plus the social security taxes of around 9%, so it all adds up to a large sum of money. Now, with the iPads and iPhones being made in Brazil, you’d say the prices would go down, but these units are for export only. Well, when they do decided to ship them locally, prices will HAVE to go lower… Related posts: |
HTC Golf Gets Spotted in First Press Shot Posted: 13 Apr 2012 01:01 PM PDT After the One Series, HTC is ready to strike again, this time in the low end smartphone segment. Thus, the HTC Golf model appeared, this time in the press shot you can see below. We’re dealing with an entry level model with Android Ice Cream Sandwich on board. Recently we discovered the existence of this device through a leaked test photo from its pretty average 5 megapixel camera. The handset is supposed to hit the market before the end of the current quarter and it will be dubbed Wildfire C, continuing the legacy of tiny smartphones with lower end functions. The handset may is placed below the One series in the HTC 2012 roadmap when it comes to specs, but the design does borrow some One elements. Speculations say we’re to expect a single core sub 1 GHz processor, 4GB of storage and 512MB RAM. HTC Sense 4.0 should show up on the 3.5 inch display with 480 x 320 pixel resolution. The internal storage will be complemented by the two years of Dropbox cloud storage (25GB), just like on the HTC One X, S and models. Surprisingly we also have a microSD card slot available and the specs list ends with Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. A front facing camera is also stuffed somewhere in there. Related posts: |
Sony Xperia Sola Reaches the FCC Posted: 13 Apr 2012 09:24 AM PDT Sony Xperia Sola has just reached the FCC and in case this device doesn’t ring a bell to you, know that it’s supposed to be an Android smartphone that fits between the Xperia U and the Xperia P. Sola features a 3.7 inch 854 x 480 pixel display, a 1GHz dual core processor, HSPA and WiFi connectivity, plus dual cameras. There’s also the usual bunch of sensors in the mix and Android 2.3 Gingerbread is also present as the OS of choice. This summer the device, together with more Xperias will get Android 4.0 ICS, according to people in the know. As you can see, the Xperia Sola has been taken apart by the FCC and it’s passing through all the testing processes right now. It’s got a collection of antennae, including NFC, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 and quadband GSM radio. This is probably the equivalent of the Xperia Ray or something close to it from a year ago. Other specs include a case that’s 9.9mm thick, stereo speakers, microSD card slot, 8GB of storage, HSDPA connectivity and 5MP camera with AF and LED flash. Geotagging, touch focus, face and smile detection are all available as well, but there’s no front camera here. Related posts: |
