T-Mobile Roadmap Leaks, Shows MyTouch Devices, Android 4.0 Updates Posted: 28 Apr 2012 03:42 PM PDT Verizon isn’t the only US carrier with a ton of leaks, so now T-Mobile follows its way and also reaches the news with a roadmap leak. T-Mobile USA has big plans for the following months, including some new MyTouch models and Android 4.0 ICS updates. We’ve got a pair of dates for the ICS updates, including May 14th for the Galaxy S II handset and June 16th for the HTC Sensation 4G and Amaze 4G. Samsung and Huawei phones that will be launched in the following months round up the list, but there’s no trace of HTC One X here strangely. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S III is also missing, as well as the rumored T-Mobile Galaxy Note version. On May 9th we’ll witness the debut of the Huawei Astor, a low end phone for 7 Eleven. On July 11th two Huawei newcomers will take off: Buddy and Phoenix, a myTouch with QWERTY and slate respectively. Also on this date Samsung Gravity TXT will come in new color. And finally, on August 1st Samsung T159 Cacao, a low end phone will debut, followed by Samsung Apex Q a mystery device coming on August 15th. Related posts: |
Sony to Premiere Dual Sliding Gaming Phone Soon? Posted: 28 Apr 2012 11:45 AM PDT We’ve just uncovered a brilliant patent from Sony, involving a device that offers both a sliding area with gaming controls and another sliding area with a physical QWERTY keyboard. Sony usually thinks devices through a long while before launching them and this may also be the case. This dual sliding device was found at the USPTO, the patent authority that granted the trademark to Sony for this new design. The idea here is to have a primary sliding system and a second one to slide along as well. You’ll push back the sliding part you don’t need, if you only want to use the gamepad or the keyboard, for example. We’re expecting the resulting device to be really thick, but in the end it’s still a progress to a more complete product. The design shown here reminds me of the Motorola Milestone a bit. I sure hope that the Xperia Play will brings us something like this, since the first model was definitely a letdown. Would you buy such a gaming phone with the risk of it being too bulky? I’m hoping for a quad core CPU and 720p screen here, at least… Related posts: |
Sony ST21i Tapioca, the Cheaper Xperia, Now With More Pictures Posted: 28 Apr 2012 05:56 AM PDT After seeing Sony’s LT29i Hayabusa powerful smartphone, it’s time to dumb things down a bit. Now we have a leak of a model called Sony ST21i Tapioca, a lower end handset, that is supposed to arrive in July, just like the Hayabusa. Rumored specs first appeared for the Tapioca in January, but since then it’s been a mystery. Now we have some images that are supposed to portray this handset, included in this article. The specs remain unchanged from the last time we saw the Tapioca, including a single core 800 MHz Qualcomm chip, 512 MB of RAM, a 3.2 inch display with a HVGA resolution and a 3 megapixel camera at the back. Of course, these specs come with limitations, like the one of the camera, that’s only capable to do VGA capture at best. This is also a pretty bulky device, as shown by the images, with an unusually raised screen. One would even think that this is an Xperia Mini model with a sliding keyboard hidden in there, but that’s not the case. Rumors also mentioned a Tapioca DS on some leaked roadmap, so maybe there will be a sliding QWERTY version of the phone, rumored to arrive at some point in August. If this is priced below $200 it’s a solid purchase, off contract of course. Related posts: |
Sony Xperia Ion LT28i Officially Announced in Taiwan, Has No LTE Posted: 28 Apr 2012 05:25 AM PDT Sony Xperia Ion LT28i has been officially announced in Taiwan, in a version that comes without LTE connectivity. The AT&T version had LTE and it was known under the codename LT28at. The rest of the features of the model launched in Taiwan stay the same, including the 4.6 inch Reality Display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. There’s also WiFi on board, DLNA, a 12 megapixel camera with 1080p capture, a 1.3MP front camera and a 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon CPU. Also we get 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and Android 2.3 as the OS, with Android 4.0 ICS planned as update later on. No idea if the Xperia Ion will make it to other markets or when that will happen, but for now people in Taiwan are lucky enough to get one. Tempted by this brother of the Xperia S model? I have to remind you that the Xperia Ion and Xperia S were showcased at CES 2012 early this year and they were also present at MWC 2012 in Barcelona, together with the Xperia P and U. They’re all part of the new wave of Sony smartphones, the first to get rid of the Sony Ericsson branding and pack pure Sony technology. Related posts: |
