Samsung Galaxy Nexus Off-Contract Priced at $399, Getting Rid of Stock Ahead of Galaxy S III Debut?!

Posted: 25 Apr 2012 04:07 PM PDT

If you want to buy a cheap Galaxy Nexus, now it’s the time, since the device costs merely $399 off contract, so that’s as good as it gets. The price probably applies as retailers and even Samsung try to get rid of the last Nexus phone, to make room in stores for the Samsung Galaxy S III and avoid cannibalizing the product.

You can get the phone with this cool price on Google’s online store. The iPhone 4S right now starts at $649 without carrier commitment, so this is the bargain of a lifetime if you ask me. The flagship Google phone with Android 4.0 was unveiled in October, just like the iPhone 4S, so the price difference puzzles me. Also, the Galaxy Nexus is superior in some areas to the iPhone 4S, like the screen, that was actually the first 720p one on the handset market. Just as a quick reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus uses a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display, a dual core 1.2 GHz CPU, 16GB Of storage and 1GB of RAM.

Of course you can keep your money and get the Galaxy S III on contract, or maybe the cooler HTC One X and One S that in some countries even include Beats earbuds. I can’t help but wonder what the price of the Galaxy Nexus will be when even more special offers kick in… If it reaches $300 it certainly becomes a must buy!

Samsung GT-I9300 Galaxy S III Prototype Appears Again, This Time With Home Button

Posted: 25 Apr 2012 04:58 AM PDT

Over the past days we’ve seen a supposed video of the Galaxy S III in a hands on experience, a bunch of photos taken with the device and of the device and some benchmarks for the new flagship. The pics and first impressions were seriously underwhelming and now out of nowhere comes a prototype with a changed design…

This dummy unit is identified as the GT-I9300 Galaxy S III and strangely enough it has a physical Home Button. The leak comes from Chinese forum mobile01, that shows the image with greater clarity and this is clearly a device with an unfinished case. What’s really strange is that the phone also has a virtual home button and actually 4 virtual buttons at the lower part of the screen. What happened to Google’s recommendation to use only 3 such buttons, one being the Home, the other Back and the third the Multitasking button?

This probably means that we’ll see other customizations, such as a new TouchWiz UI, but I still can’t figure out if we’ll have a physical Home button or not. I guess we don’t need it, unless you’re the traditional type who wants to keep the format of the previous Galaxy S models intact. Last I heard, people at Samsung were divided into two groups those who wanted the button and those who didn’t and the former won the battle and implemented the design feature at the last moment.

Motorola RAZR HD Gets Pictured, Runs Android 4.0, Has a 720p Display

Posted: 25 Apr 2012 12:22 AM PDT

When I first saw this device, I instantly remembered that back in the launch days of Motorola Droid RAZR, the device had a Chinese twin that packed a 13 megapixel camera and HD display. Now, a mysterious 720p Droid RAZR appears and it seems to be different from the Chinese version.

Meet the rumored Motorola RAZR HD, with Android 4.0 ICS on board and a previous leak last week. A week ago, a Motorola engineer posted some pics on his Picasa albums and their EXIF data showed that they were made with this phone. Now there’s more proof about the existence of the RAZR HD, that’s supposed to run Android 4.0.3 and use a 4.3 inch display with the above mentioned resolution. Other specs seem to be kept from the current RAZR units and the battery is apparently a 3,300 mAh unit like the one on the Droid RAZR MAXX.

The phone also looks a bit bulky, so it may not be 7.1 mm in thickness like the original model. I sure hope that the other specs have evolved as well, or else the upgrade wouldn’t be big enough to make people buy this phone, especially those who already own a variation of the RAZR.
