2GB RAM Galaxy S III With Snapdragon S4 CPU Launching in Canada on June 20th Posted: 31 May 2012 09:17 AM PDT Canadians, get your wallets ready, since less than 3 weeks from now you’ll get the very hot and unique Samsung Galaxy S III! It will be that version that swaps the quad core Exynos CPU for a dual core Snapdragon S4 and also has 2GB of RAM for good measures. Apparently, the public expected the device to hit the Canadian carrier Videotron around June 20th, so the release in the Northern nation is by no means a surprise. There’s also a Japanese version of the Galaxy S III with 2GB of RAM, so the people in Japan and Canada are among the luckiest Samsung fans right now. This version of the phone will come to all of Canada’s major wireless providers, including Rogers, Tell, Belus and Virgin Mobile. Preorders already started on Rogers and Telus, apparently. The price is $159.9 on Telus for the 16GB S III, with a 3 year contract, while the 32GB unit costs $209.99. Aside from the extra RAM, the user gets a 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor and LTE connectivity. Phandroid also mentions that Vodafone Australia revealed that the first US tour stop of the Galaxy S III will take place on June 20th. That’s also the date when T-Mobile is rumored to launch the smartphone in the States. In case you’re interested, Samsung’s tour will take them this time to New York. Related posts: |
Samsung UK Stores Get Huge Queues for Galaxy S III Launch Posted: 31 May 2012 01:30 AM PDT It was expected that Samsung Galaxy S III would be a hit, but 9 million preorders later, queues started appearing all over the world, showing that people really can’t wait to get their hands on the new handset. When the phone debuted all over the world yesterday there were already people lining up to get it and for example Startford’s Westfield store made the news with over 30 people waiting for the Galaxy S III in front of the store. The line continued and reached close to 100 people, making us think of the usual Apple madness when the new iPhone launches. Stocks have been hit by this passion for the new flagship, especially due to the low supply of Pebble Blue version, struck by production issues. Wait times of 2-3 weeks are estimated right now for this version. UK carriers and retailers are also reporting bit wait times and O2 pins it at 5 days. Vodafone upped delivery time to 4 days and T-Mobile says that the product will be available after today. Online retailer Clove will ship the Galaxy S III after June 1st and people are advised to call stores first, before going there and waiting for nothing, since the initial stock is already depleted. Amazon UK sells SIM Free ceramic white versions of the quad core Samsung phone, but they’re shipping starting June 8 for 500 pounds. Related posts: |
The New iPhone Features 4 Inch Display, Repositioned FaceTime Camera, According to Leaked Schematic Posted: 31 May 2012 12:59 AM PDT The New iPhone leaks are growing by the day, so after seeing a leaked docking connector and back plate for the handset, now the next gen iPhone’s schematics have leaked online in full. These sketches show a 4 inch display and a repositioned FaceTime camera among others. From what we know now, the iPhone 5 will be a 4 inch smartphone, with smaller docking connector, repositioned FaceTime camera, maybe bigger speakers, redesigned speaker grills and maybe a thinner waistline. The new schematics actually show a diagonal a bit over 4 inches and now the FaceTime camera is to be found above the earpiece. All of these are speculations and leaks, no certainty, but what is certain nowadays? Everyone was sure that we’ll see Retina Display MacBooks at WWDC 2012 and now Tim Cook denied it all… As usual, this sketch could merely portray one of the many prototypes in works at Apple, since we know their habit of creating a bunch of prototypes to choose from, before the actual production starts. We’re expecting the New iPhone to debut in October and stun everyone, since supposedly this was Steve Jobs’ last project. Related posts: |
ZTE Teases Thinnest Smartphone Ever: Athena, at 6.62mm Posted: 31 May 2012 12:19 AM PDT It’s been, what, like a week since we’ve shown you the thinnest smartphone in the world made by Oppo?! And now already there’s a thinner handset, just teased by ZTE under the codename Athena and offering a waistline of 6.2mm. Over the past year we’ve seen 9mm smartphones turning into 8mm devices, only to be beaten by the 7.1mm Motorola Droid RAZR. And then came a Fujitsu Arrows smartphone, going below 7mm, followed by a Huawei phone that took less than 0.1mm out of the thickness of the Fujitsu device. And finally Oppo recently surprised everyone with a 6.65mm device and now it’s once again the turn of a Chinese company to take it down a notch. ZTE Athena will have a 720p IPS screen, a Cortex A15 processor, 64GB of storage and a battery that’s probably underwhelming, since I can’t imagine fitting a decent power source into such a slim waistline. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: somewhere between 5mm and 6mm lies the limit where mobile phone makers will stop, since otherwise the smarpthones will become too thin, too fragile and maybe even too sharp to appeal to the users.
