Samsung Galaxy S III Accessories and Various Interconnected Gizmos Demoed (Video) Posted: 12 Jun 2012 01:35 PM PDT Samsung Galaxy S III may be a great device, but when you truly get to know it, it seems even better. We’re testing it right now and even we were surprised to see how many accessories and gizmos you can connect to the high end smartphone. Below you have about 30 minutes of gadget fun, including an Xbox controller connected to the Galaxy S III. Pen drives, a portable hard drive, an USB hub with keyboard and mouse, a PlayStation 3 controller, Xbox 360 joystick, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, MHL adaptor and Wiimote are all available for connection with the handset. Thanks to that special MHL adaptor you’ll connect your Galaxy S III to a HDTV via wired connection. Sadly, from what I’ve seen only Samsung makes those compatible with this phone and if you want all the accessories, you’ll have to pay a bundle. I never thought I’d see a normal QWERTY keyboard working so good with a smartphone like this, but here it is in the video below and it’s working great! The only problem with these contraptions is that lots of wires are required and we’re in 2012, where wires are obsolete… No related posts. |
12 Minutes of iOS 6.0 Features, Details and Hands On (Video) Posted: 12 Jun 2012 12:57 PM PDT We’ve got two very nice videos to show you, complementing Apple’s showcasing from yesterday. They detail the way the new features work and also the new applications. Strangely enough, there aren’t that many big websites doing demos of iOS 6.0 and YouTube is basically filled with spam videos and mere pictures and people talking over them. Well, no more! Know that registered developers already played with iOS 6.0 starting from yesterday, obviously in beta version. The guy to thank for the videos below is TechTechManTV and also we’ll thank iAppleTech2. The latter did a 5 minute video showing the key features of the iOS 6.0 release, while the first guy did a 7 minute video showing the design tweaks that Apple made. For example thanks to iAppleTech2 we know that you can use various call answering mechanisms to answer incoming calls, stuff like “call me in an hour” and such things. The Facebook and Twitter integration in the Notification Center is detailed in its new version, that’s certainly more efficient now. Passbook is also shown, with tickets, store cards and coupons available. New on the Settings page you’ll find Privacy, that allows users to grant and revoke apps access to contacts, calendars, reminders and photo API data. Maps is also detailed and apparently it seems to use TomTom data and Apple’s in house resources. The interface of the Maps app is pretty much similar to what we previously had, aside from street view and public transport info, that are gone. Instead you get turn by turn nav and 3D, but more of that in the videos below: Related posts: |
Sony Preparing New Xperia Device for Later This Month; Countdown Posted Online! Posted: 12 Jun 2012 03:52 AM PDT Sony Mobile Communications is preparing yet another Xperia smartphone and they posted a countdown to prove that. The countdown shows that this month we’ll get a fresh unveiling. They already had a lot of announcements this year, starting with the Xperia S, Xperia Ion, Xperia P and U, Xperia Sola, GX, SX, acro S and more! What’s coming now?! Sony delivered great displays, great cameras, but their big problem is breaking apart from the cliche design that they keep applying on phones this year and also scoring a more potent CPU. Anyway, as shown in the image above, we’ll get a cool official announcement around the end of June. The initial debut was set for June 22, but the Sony Facebook page seems to point towards June 21st. We have absolutely no details about this model, but there are two theories that come to mind. One of them regards that mystery Hayabusa unit that has been leaked a lot over the past months and it’s supposed to be the highest end Sony model so far. Also, people seem to demand an Xperia Play 2 or something close to it. Sony has pissed off a lot of people by not offering Android 4.0 on the Xperia Play, so launching a more modern console-phone would be a great way to make it up. Also, a brand new high end Walkman model would kick ass… We’ll see! Related posts: |
Here’s What the Facebook Phone Could Look Like: Michal Bonikowski Mockup Posted: 12 Jun 2012 03:32 AM PDT There have been a lot of rumors lately about a Facebook Phone and apparently Zuckerberg and co are working hard on it. As you know, the IPO idea wasn’t that bright for FB and they already lost a lot of their share value, so they need to come up with something unique. Before they do that, let’s see a very interesting Facebook Phone concept, created by Michal Bonikowski. As you probably know already, Zuckerberg already gathered some former Apple engineers and design experts to come up with his ideal phone. Michal used this idea and the result is something that looks like a combo between a HTC smartphone and an iPhone. He claims that this Facebook Phone will have a 4.2 inch display, a Super AMOLED or SCLD 2 screen, apparently, plus an 8 megapixel camera at the back. The design of the camera area seems to involve a metal band, reminding me of the Toshiba Thrive tablet somehow. This may be an Android phone, but if you look at the capacitive buttons at the bottom you won’t recognize any of the symbols. They may only be tweaked, but honestly speaking, 3 of them would have been enough. This Facebook Phone concept charges via induction using a special dock and there’s also a 5 megapixel camera at the front for Facebook video chats. I wonder what the sensor at the back offers in terms of performance. It may be an 8 megapixel camera! Related posts: |
Posted: 12 Jun 2012 01:53 AM PDT Just hours ago Apple kicked off the WWDC 2012 event in style, with Tim Cook on stage, fresh MacBook announcements and obviously the debut of iOS 6.0. Mountain Lion was also mentioned as coming next month with a $19.99 price tag and 200 new features. The same “200 new features” line was used for iOS 6.0, so let’s see what’s really new! Well, for one thing most of the rumors regarding iOS 6.0 came true, including Facebook integration and new Maps app. Also, Siri has evolved to a new level and can now start apps, show you sports competitions scores and details about athletes if you want. The virtual assistant also shows movie times and trailers when you ask it and it even gives you the Rotten Tomatoes ratings for pictures. It can also search for restaurants on a more evolved level. iOS 5.0 had strong Twitter integration and now iOS 6.0 relies on the Facebook integration, apparently. Every corner of the OS allows you to like, comment or share via FB. There’s even Facebook in the App Store, so you can see what apps your friends dig and you can post to the social networking service from Maps, Photos and you also get a very good integration of FB with the Notification Center. Facebook is supported by Siri, so you can dictate a new status easily. Also, using the new APIs available for developers, any app can integrate Facebook immediately. In case you’re wondering, the beta for iOS 6.0 is already available for developers and the full version will come this fall, most likely with the new iPhone. Apple also showcased a feature called Eye Free, that integrates Siri in the driving experience. The Cupertino giant will work with car makers to deliver on that promise. Another improvement is the ability to use Facetime via cellular connection, not only WiFi. Apple also unveiled an app called PassBook, that gathers all the plane tickets, movie tickets, coupons and other stuff like that in a single place and keeps them for later. Photo Stream now support sharing, commenting on photos and the ability to Like them. An interesting unveiling was the one of the “Do Not Disturb” feature, that adapts the notifications and handset behaviour to a business meeting for example. It makes the notifications more quiet and the screen won’t light up when you’re notified. And finally, the long awaited Maps was announced, replacing Google Maps as the favourite mapping solution on iOS. The new app shows over 100 million landmarks and businesses, has turn by turn navigation, traffic info, real time updates and 3D graphics. There’s a Flyover feature, involving great 3D models of real life buildings, that are perfectly shown on iOS now. Vectorial graphics are also available and many of the novelties shown here will also come to Google’s solutions soon. Maps will also take off this fall, with iOS 6.0. Everything we saw at WWDC 2012, including the Retina Display Macbook was already predicted or rumored. Did you find anything truly spectacular? Related posts: |
