Oppo Finder, the World’s Thinnest Phone is Now Available for Preorder Posted: 19 Jun 2012 10:07 AM PDT The battle for the thinnest smartphone in the world is one that has a new winner each couple of months. Once it was the Motorola Droid RAZR, then some Fujitsu model and then came Huawei with the Ascend P1 S. Finally, the Oppo Finder came out of nowhere with an incredible thickness of 6.65mm and now it’s available for preorder. This device is available for $393, that’s not at all a big amount nowadays, considering other prices. The handset begins shipping in early July and comes with a dual core 1.5 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display. There’s also an 8 megapixel camera on board, a 1.3 megapixel front shooter and Android 4.0 ICS as the OS of choice. The camera does 1080p capture and while this is a REAL world’s thinnest phone, there’s a hypothetical thinnest phone, the ZTE Athena, that has only been teased. That model is supposed to have a 6.2mm waistline, but we’ll learn more about it when it’s unveiled. So, you may want to save your money and wait for the ZTE unit… Related posts: |
ZTE Grand X LTE T82 Single Chip Smartphone Now Official Posted: 19 Jun 2012 05:38 AM PDT ZTE has just unveiled a new phone, the Grand X LTE (T82), that in spite of the impressive name is actually merely a single chip LTE handset. This is a first for the company and a rare occasion, since you don’t see many single chip phones with LTE nowadays. Unveiled at CommunicAsia 2012, the phone will launch in the Asia-Pacific region and Europe in Q3 2012. The processor used here is the latest MSM8960 flavour from Qualcomm. The chip uses advanced 28 nm technology, that will give the user extra battery and performance. The handset integrates WiFi, runs Android 4.0 and its processor is actually a dual core unit with 1.5 GHz frequency. At the back of the phone there’s an 8 megapixel camera with support for full HD video recording. The handset’s front camera supports 720p HD video calls and the LTE connectivity brings downloads of up to 100 Mbps. Under the hood we find a 1900 mAh battery and pricing is still a mystery for this phone. ZTE also showed a tablet with TD-LTE/EDGE at CommunicAsia and that will come in Q3 as well. Related posts: |
KT-Tech Take LTE Smartphone Runs Android 4.0.4, Uses Snadpragon S4 CPU Posted: 19 Jun 2012 01:27 AM PDT Although Qualcomm is swamped with orders for Snapdragon S4 CPUs, they managed to fit in a South Korean company called KT-Tech, apparently. They implemented the CPU on their latest phone, called the Take LTE (KM-100), that’s pictured below and runs Android 4.0.4 on top of the dual core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. The device comes with LTE support, GPS, Glonass and an impressive 2.040 mAh battery, plus a 5 megapixel camera at the back. Speaking of the camera, its design and integration into the case is a clear copy of the camera on the HTC One X. Other specs include a front 1.3 MP camera and as you can see in the image above, there’s a proprietary user interface with a fast choice of themes. This LTE phone called Take LTE measures 9.9mm in thickness, weighs 138.5 grams and uses a 4.5 inch TFT IPS 720p screen. There’s also a digital TV tuner on board, typical for Asia-only products, plus 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC. I’m really curios to learn the price of this model, since it sounds like a pretty good phone. Related posts: |
