Lumigon T2 Launch Date and Price Revealed; Vault Feature Included! Posted: 15 Jun 2012 02:13 PM PDT Remember Lumigon and their T2 handset? Back at MWC 2012 we got friendly with the Danish company Lumigon and found out details about their project during an unofficial and casual talk. We had a video preview of the T2 here and Rikke Juul Hanson offered us a short hands on back then. Now Lumigon is back with more details. I must mention that the T2 is an elegant phone that uses glass and stainless steel for its case. Last I heard, it had a programmable button at the top, infrared connectivity and it could be used as a remote control for various TV sets. It relies on a Snapdragon S2 single core 1.4 GHz processor (unless that’s changed from March till now) and it comes with a 3.8 inch display and 8 megapixel camera. Lumigon T2 runs Android 4.0 ICS with a custom UI and uses Bang & Olufsen technology, for a great audio experience. The product will come to selected markets, starting in Europe and Asia, by the end of the summer. The price will be around 500-600 euro without VAT and when the phone arrives, it will be available in two colours: Deep Black and Cool White. It also comes with a new, digitally encrypted safety deposit box, a Vault feature. It can be used to store passwords, confidential notes, emails, texts and more. It obviously requires a special password. If the phone is lost, all personal data will be secured and backed up in a cloud service. Related posts: |
Porsche Design P’9981 Available in Canada Now, Price Still Big Posted: 15 Jun 2012 05:03 AM PDT If you have $1890 to spend and you live in Canada, you should know that now you can purchase the Porsche Design P’9981 handset, a luxury piece of gear with BlackBerry branding on it. RIM executive officer Thorsten Heins and Porsche Design Group’s Juergen Gessler unveiled the device locally, during the opening of the Porsche Design Store in Yorkville, Toronto. This device uses premium materials in its design, stuff like forged stainless steel for its frame, hand wrapped leather for the back cover and a sculpted QWERTY keyboard. It also has a crystal clear touchscreen, according to its makers. The handset even uses a custom Porsche Design interface, plus the Wikitude World Browser augmented reality app experience. There’s also a premium, exclusive PIN available for the customer, identifying him as the owner of a Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone made by RIM. If you want hardware details, know that the phone measures 11.3mm in thickness, weighs 155 grams and uses a TFT touchscreen with a 2.8 inch diagonal and 640 x 480 pixel resolution, plus an optical trackpad and 8GB of storage. 768 MB of RAM, HSDPA (14.4 Mbps), Bluetooth 2.1, Wifi, NFC and a 5 megapixel camera are on board as well. The OS of choice here is BlackBerry OS 7.0 customized as I said above and it runs on top of a Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon 1.2 GHz processor, with Adreno 205 graphics. Related posts: |
LG Eclipse Quad Core S4 Handset Coming to Sprint and AT&T; Gets Certification, Benchmarks and More! Posted: 15 Jun 2012 04:12 AM PDT Sprint’s LG Eclipse 4G LTE (LS970) model has been leaked before and now it’s coming again, this time with more details and a buddy, the E970 model, that was shown as working on Sprint and AT&T. The newcomer is LG’s most amazing device yet, with a quad core Snapdragon S4 processor and the brand new Adreno 320 GPU. That will give us stunning graphics in games and great performances all around. The User Agent Profile mentions a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels for this quad core S4 Eclipse. Add to that a 4.67 inch diagonal, 13 megapixel camera and 2GB of RAM and you’re all set. The Adreno 320-based Eclipse also showed up on the benchmarks’ radar, with GLBench showing that the LS970 (Sprint version) scores 125 fps in the offscreen Egypt test. The E970 (AT&T version) scored 113 fps. NenaMark showed 58.8 for the E970, while the LS970 got 11.663 on AnTuTu. These scores put the devices on par with the Samsung Galaxy S III’s quad core Exynos chipset, if you want a comparison, although the AnTuTu score is higher for the LG model than the Samsung one. Both models are scheduled to arrive in North America around October 31st, so we’re in for a long wait. Related posts: |
Motorola Dinara aka Atrix 3 Goes Through the FCC, Rushes Towards AT&T Posted: 15 Jun 2012 02:24 AM PDT Codenamed Dinara and also known as the Motorola Atrix 3, the handset shown in the sketch below just went through the FCC while preparing to reach AT&T. Last I heard, the Motorola Atrix 3 was leaked in what looked like a press pic online and it had an AT&T logo on, plus 3 capacitive buttons and no physical key. Speculations say that this device is an Android 4.0 unit based on Snapdragon S4, a welcome choice for Motorola I’d say. Other rumors say that we’re to expect a 720p display and an all touch interface borrowed from the recent launches in China done by Motorola. LTE should also be on board and if you wonder what this FCC revealing included, know that this model is codenamed MB886, has LTE bands for AT&T supported and uses the same model naming convention as the predecessors. Its sheet includes HSPA+/WCDMA 850/1900 and quad band EDGE as well. Why go with Snapdragon S4? It’s LTE friendly, has high performance and with a 720p display it will make a great device. I expect something in the range of $200 on contract for this model, with an AT&T commitment for 2 years. We’ll see… Related posts: |
New Apple Patent Shows Interchangeable Camera Lens on iPhone Posted: 15 Jun 2012 02:09 AM PDT There’s a new patent filing out there related to Apple, that shows the idea of interchangeable camera lenses applied to the iPhone. Obviously, a patent filing doesn’t mean that the product will happen, but it’s certainly a good indication towards the future plans at Cupertino HQ. Apple is certainly aware that the iPhone 4 and 4S rule Flickr in terms of popularity as far as the camera is concerned. The iPhone is already able to take some crazy good shots with its 8 megapixel camera and also pretty good 1080p video, but advancements from models such as the Galaxy S III, HTC One X and Sony Xperia S must have had Apple thinking. There’s a big third party market already available for iPhone lenses, so eventually the new tech could catch on. The problem is that Apple would rather go bankrupt then make a bulky iPhone and moving parts are known for increasing the thickness of the device they’re on. Nokia is the kind of company to bulk up a phone for that purpose, but Apple would prefer to wait for new technology to do that, instead of using interchangeable lenses. Well, maybe they patented the tech so no one else would and to make an extra buck/generate a lawsuit… Related posts: |
