Samsung Galaxy S III Launching as Planned in USA, on June 21st Posted: 13 Jun 2012 12:43 PM PDT The launch of Samsung Galaxy S III will proceed as planned, on June 21st, in spite of Apple’s recent attempt at banning the phone in USA. They based their claims on the usual patent breaches, but the judge couldn’t be convinced. Below you can see a picture of the famous Judge Lucy Koh, the person who has the faith of Samsung – Apple case in her hands. For about a year now Judge Koh has been mediating the dispute in court between Apple and Samsung and ruled in favour of Samsung lately. Last I heard, Apple was unhappy with the slide to unlock on the Galaxy S III and its ability to call phone numbers mentioned on web pages and in texts. Those were considered infringed patents and Apple wanted to add the charges to its already famous Galaxy Tab 10.1 case. Samsung wanted a separate case, to gain more time to sell the Galaxy S III in the USA. The phone debuts on June 21st ad will sell for about $200 on AT&T on contract, for example. This phone was called the fastest selling gadget of all time, having presold 9 million units, not including the US, so Apple has reason to fear it. Judge Koh based her decision to let Samsung be on her busy schedule ruling in the Apple v Samsung other suits. Funny, right? Related posts: |
Sony Xperia Tapioca is Now Official, Announced as Xperia Tipo, With Dual SIM Version Too! (Video) Posted: 13 Jun 2012 02:46 AM PDT Remember those leaks that detailed a mystery Sony phone called Xperia Tapioca? Well, now the device is official, as the Sony Xperia tipo, that has just been announced. It will come in both a single SIM and dual SIM version and it’s detailed in the videos and lines below. We’re dealing here with a handset that packs a 3.2 inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) display in both the single and dual SIM versions, plus an 800 MHz single core processor. The display has scratch resistant mineral glass to protect it. The CPU is made by Qualcomm and at the back of the Tipo we find a 3.2 megapixel camera, while inside there’s a 1,500 mAh battery, that Sony promises to deliver over 24 hours of continuous usage. Android 4.0 ICS comes preinstalled, but you probably guessed that from the 3 capacitive buttons below the display. Sony Xperia tipo and Xperia tipo dual, the dual SIM unit will be released globally in Q3 2012. Pricing remains unknown! Xperia Tipo Dual has a dedicated button on the side, that allows it to switch between SIMs, a very cool feature, if you ask me. 512MB of RAM and 2.5GB of user storage are also on board, if you thought we forgot about memory. Sony Xperia Miro Officially Unveiled on Facebook – Midrange Social Phone (Video) Posted: 13 Jun 2012 02:12 AM PDT Sony just ended the mystery countdown on its official Facebook Page, with the announcement of the Xperia Miro handset, that you can see below. This is a midrange social-focused handset, with specs to match its looks. As you can see, this unit has some sort of an “inverted chin” thin going on. Sony Xperia Miro borrows some traits from the Xperia Sola and it comes with a 3.5 inch display, a 5 megapixel camera, Android 4.0 ICS and Sony’s UXP NXT software. The Facebook Inside Xperia concept has been expanded, bringing closer integration between the phone and the social network. It was a good idea to promote a “Facebook phone” with a Facebook countdown, I guess. This seems like an Europe-only product and there’s no word on US launch, but when the Xperia Miro does launch I guess it’ll be free on contract. The Miro comes in silver, black, pink and gold. It even has DLNA, that’s always a welcome feature, even on lower end devices. 30 fps video capture is promised by the 4MP camera and we also get a pretty strong speaker, or so says Sony. There’s also a front camera if you want to videochat! Video with details right here: Related posts: |
