Nokia’s Dig at Apple Gets 38K+ RTs

Nokia Dig at Apple Twitter

Nokia’s dig at Apple immediately following the launch of the iPhone 5C has grown to become pretty wide spread. Currently at over 38K RT’s this seemingly simple and insignificant tweet shows how one company can gain “success” off the coat tails of another.

Not sure if it is really worth posting, but as Nokia Fans, its always nice to see some recognition is being spread.

What was that Tim Cook? Nokia’s dead? ;)

MyNokiaBlog is acting up on IE10/11 here’s how to fix it. (+comments discussion)

For some reason lots of you guys on IE10/11 are having problems with MyNokiaBlog in a very random fashion.

Myself and Ali both noticed this problem a while back, where the browser would hang when you scroll in some articles to the comments section and then crash.

Today it annoyed me so much I started to look up a solution that didn’t included firing up Chrome, which I’m starting to think is being ignored on Windows (as the focus has shifted to Android’s Chrome).

Anyways if you face any problems with the site like this one:Error.Click on the “torn page symbol” next to the refresh icon in the address bar, which is basically a safe mode or compatibility mode for websites that aren’t IE friendly. fix The results are a bit awkward at first but you’ll learn to enjoy it quite fast and it drops 3d buttons and turn them into flat metro looking ones. :D .

Michael: I notice an issue on WP IE  a while back, where it wouldn’t update the cache, and I was stuck on 2 week old home page. The solution was to enable data sense to compress the data, as it forces it through a proxy. If you don’t have data sense, and have the issue, then I have no help for you.

P.S: Jay I think the crash is caused by the sharing buttons right above the comments.

Since we are on the subject of MyNokiaBlog as website lets discuss yet another thing; the commenting system.

Its been a problem on this site for quite sometimes, if we want to carry great conversations (and we constantly do) we must improve it by using a great commenting system like “Discuss”.
The letdown however is that Discuss doesn’t show any information on feature phones and even Symbian (808 users please confirm) so you can’t comment or read the comments.

Would you sacrifice “feature phone” mobile access to comments in favor of having an advance system that lets you follow the conversation with notifications, thumbs ups and offer a consistent profile with friends and points and following?

Speak up your mind in the comments and thanks for reading.

Verizon Bound Lumia 929 Render Leaks, Rocking GDR3

Posted: 21 Sep 2013 01:15 PM PDT

BUti-qYCAAAx428A surprise Lumia has made its way into the world of leaks, the Lumia 929 for Verizon according to @evleaks:

According to the tweet above the 929 should launch this year, in both black and white (Verizon have a thing against colors). The device appears to be running GDR3 (and probably Bittersweet shimmer) as told by the new tile sizes.

We don’t have much info on the specs or size of the device, but from the looks of it, this isn’t going to be as large as the upcoming 1520 due to the “normal” spacing of the keys at the bottom.

Any thoughts on what it might be?

(note the time is 10:20, but the Lumia 928 also showed 10:20 in one of its renders as seen below).

Nokia Sirius Tablet to Launch as Lumia 2520?

Posted: 21 Sep 2013 08:13 AM PDT

nokia-siriusEarlier we heard that the Nokia tablet will most likely launch alongside the 1520 phablet in Abu Dhabi next month. Now @evleks has  added that the Sirius tablet will be named the Nokia Lumia 2520.

This is interesting for a couple of reasons, mainly that Nokia have decided NOT to create a new family name for their tablets (although it’s likely to be just the one). Instead they’ve combined them under the Lumia family, further diversifying the range of Lumias and building off the slight popularity they’ve gained. Second of all the numbering itself, 2520, is a whole 1000 larger than the expected 1520; but possibly reserving the 2XXX for future tablets (be they Nokia or Microsoft made).

With the Microsoft acquisition there’s still a lot of questions regarding what the new devices would be called; but the more Lumias Nokia push out, the harder it’ll be for MSFT to ditch the branding.

Of course Nokia have previously changed their device brandings at almost last minute, as we saw with the Lumia 1020. Which was once upon a time called the Nokia 909.

AdDuplex Stats: Lumia 520 Now 20% of all WP, 30% of WP8; 521 Second Most Popular WP in US

Posted: 21 Sep 2013 07:34 AM PDT

Lumia FamilyThe folks behind AdDuplex have shared a couple more teaser stats with us regarding the state of the WP family. First off the already reigning champion, the Lumia 520 now makes up 20% of all Windows Phone devices combined (7 & 8) while it makes up 30% of WP8 devices!

Second up Nokia have increased their market share in the WP ecosystem by another 1.5% ( I think that brings them to %81.5?)

Regarding the status of the GDR2 update deliverance, only 30% of WP8 devices have received it, that’s no surprise honestly seeing how At&t have yet to release it; and that HTC have withheld the update from the 8X.

And finally, MetroPCS with its Lumia 521 now carries a 5% market share of WP8 in the with the Lumia 521 becoming the second most popular US phone.
