VPN Support, Siri-like Cortana voice PA, notification centre and more with WP8.1 in April Posted: 16 Dec 2013 11:06 AM PST
WP8.1 may be coming in April according to TheVerge who says MS is set to unveil the latest big iteration of the OS at the build developer conference.
Now remember when it was reported that MS had addressed some of these features but had to then retract that? I was wondering, what with MS being all shut up and ship, why they’d let everyone know months in advance and perhaps that retraction was a ‘woops, you’re not allowed to know yet’ which suggests perhaps that, although not mentioned, there’s a chance for the likes of file manager too? Cheers Alvester and prashant for the tip! |
Nokia Lumia 929 to come with “Icon” branding? Icon/Aikon/nokia? Posted: 16 Dec 2013 11:05 AM PST @evleaks has previously mentioned that the 929 might be codename “icon”. He tweeted again saying
Icon branding? Nokia Icon? Icon 929? Also note that Icon sounds like Aikon which is Nokia backwards. Perhaps one way of preserving the Nokia brand.

Report: 8.3″ Nokia RT Tablet Codenamed “Illusionist” Cancelled. Posted: 16 Dec 2013 07:22 AM PST According to a reliable source close to Nokia, we can confirm that Nokia were working on an 8.3″ version of the 10.1″ Lumia 2520. However for reasons unknown this product has been cancelled. The 8.3″ RT tablet code-named illusionist was originally slated for a Q1 release/announcement said the source; before being cancelled by the executives. The specs for the device were said to be very similar to the Lumia 2520, with a Snapdragon 800 quad core processor, and similar camera module and possibly even screen resolution (but with an obviously higher pixel density due to the smaller screen). At the current time we haven’t been able to find out why the “illusionist” was cancelled, but we are confident that the source is reliable. So it seems at the current time the Lumia 2520 might be Nokia’s only offering to the modern tablet industry…

Nokia Camera Beta lands on Store for all WP8 Lumia phones Posted: 16 Dec 2013 03:49 AM PST Here’s the official download for Nokia Camera for all WP8 Lumias. It requires the Lumia Amber update.
Hopefully that whilst the entry level devices have slightly less processing power, they have less MP to juggle to balance out shot-to-shot times. Nokia Camera times aren’t all the same. 925 (same Dual Core 1.5GHz as 1020) for example can take at least 2 shots in the time it takes the 1020. Even if the 1020 is just taking 5mp shots, it still has to process the initial 34/38mp. |
£20 App Voucher from Nokia Lumia 925, 1020, 1520 and 625 (UK) Posted: 16 Dec 2013 02:55 AM PST It’s worth a try if you have a Nokia Lumia 925, 1020, 625 or 1520. Nokia might give you a £20 app voucher. The app voucher is only whilst stocks last and purchased from the UK between November 15 to Feb 5th 2014. You should still give it a go though even if your phone wasn’t purchased in those dates. It’s a shame as I told my mum to register not realising as I’m telling her to press the microsoft button to log in that it doesn’t allow for all Lumias (original reddit title). Via: Reddit |
