15,000 Facebook Likes! Thank You! Posted: 20 Dec 2013 10:37 AM PST Thank you! To all our readers, followers, news tippers and commenters; THANK YOU! The MyNokiaBlog Facebook page has just hit 15,000 likes, and we sure as hell couldn’t have done it without you guys. We never would have made it this far without your continuous support and criticism, and I’m glad to be a part of this community. We actually had a little something planned for this event, but weren’t able to put it together in time, but worry not! We shall celebrate in a Nokia spirit soon, so keep your eye’s peeled. Till then, thanks again for everything. |
Nokia shows how to make Phone Cover from Old CDs. Do not try at home. Filmed on 1020 Posted: 20 Dec 2013 09:32 AM PST The polycarbonate in the 1520 was formed from recycled CDs. In this video we see how to make a case with some old CDs. The presenter is quite a rebel. The point isn’t actually a how-to but a heads up on sustainability and Nokia’s efforts on that front.

Video: You’re a Storyteller: The Nokia Lumia 1520. Posted: 20 Dec 2013 08:06 AM PST In this one minute sketch, we’re given a scenario where some people have gone on an adventure but just can’t express their story. Then they pick up the 1520. I wish they actually showed the app a bit more rather than the uncomfortable cringe-fest that dominated the clip. It’s good to show the problem of something you’re solving but please, show the solution side a bit more too so we see that yeah, it is compelling and something to use rather than something that’s a touch too vague.

Skype Premium Vouchers rolling out worth £59.88 Posted: 20 Dec 2013 07:39 AM PST Lots of nice free stuff this week. First the £20 Nokia gift card now some Skype Premium (I believe there was also a very cheap Xbox Music limited offer for $30 or something like that?). Anyway, whilst the Nokia gift card rolled out within minutes, the Skype premium took a day or two leaving some to believe they’d never get it. But here it is. It’s usually £5.99/month or £59.88 for a year. Hopefully it will not automatically renew unless I choose to keep the service. You can still sign up if you haven’t already. You’ll get an email and all you have to do is copypasta the voucher code to the link they provide. |
Video: Dual-shot Nokia Asha 503 review Posted: 20 Dec 2013 04:01 AM PST Here’s a Nokia Asha 503 review from PhoneArena. Whilst they like some things like design, battery life, some UI aspects and the camera, they find that it’s now overpriced and dated. Were this available in the USA, for that comparable 100USD price, you could get the 520 or two 520s if you can still find that $50 Walmart price.

Video: How to sync your Nokia Lumia with Mac Posted: 20 Dec 2013 03:56 AM PST Nokia shows the various ways you can sync your Nokia Lumia with your Mac. Whilst the cable is on show, the first things mentioned are cloud solutions. e.g. Gmail calendar and Skydrive. Then there’s a way to sync iTunes stuff.
Now this is a much better script than the one we had when filming something like this early this year. That never got published funnily enough (filming stuff like this when you are on camera is extremely difficult, especially when the equipment doesn’t play with you.) |
