As Ali said earlier, Happy Independence Day, Finland!

Janne shares the post below where both Marko Ahtisaari and Stephen Elop attended the Finnish president’s annual Independence Day celebrations. Marko was said to be seen wearing Lumia like tiles on his tie.

Nokia’s design chief (and son of former Finnish president Martti Ahtisaari) Marko Ahtisaari, who just launched Lumia 620 in Paris yesterday, is attending the Finnish president’s annual independence day reception today in Helsinki. His tie was sporting a little too Lumia live tiles color blocks look to be just a coincidence. I’m sure a picture will pop up online later.

Edit (Ali): Benz was kind enough to drop a picture of Marko’s Live Tile inspired tie down below, so here it is:

Stephen Elop also attends: http://media.shootitlive.com/iltasanomat/42/OGmXnewDiPnW4CNBqmA3GQMLnjF_1200.jpg

Today December 6th is the 95th Finnish independence day. The president’s independence day reception is the major fashion outing in the Finnish social scene. Last year the wife of Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka’s wife was wearing an Angry Birds dress at the same event.

Switch Comics: The Color of Dreams

Part 4 of the cute #SwitchComics has just been released by Nokia UK’s Facebook page, this one titled: The  Color of Dreams. Must admit it is a very nice approach; but more importantly is that a Lumia 920 married to a N950 (I have no idea why I think it’s a 950 but something about it says 950; or maybe it’s the Lauta since the 950 only came in black?).

Speaking of which Nokia’s stock has doubled its value over the past month finally moving from the $2 mark reaching almost $4 today; while apple has lost $35 BILLION of market value because they lost out on the China Mobile deal to the Lumia 920. Is it just me who thinks the sleeping dinosaur has awoken?

Lumia 920 video test vs. iPhone 5/SGS3/HTCrap 8X and Note 2

Generally camera comparisons feel odd, sometimes they even seem fake or manipulated. This video by the guys from besteproduct.nl shows otherwise. You clearly see their rather rudimentary rig and they compare the same footage, one of the better comparisons I've seen so far. Take a look at the video below and see for yourself.

(Also note the conditions they set up for the OIS system to deal with. )

What did they think after they tested it?

The Lumia 920 comes with a good camera for normal circumstances. If you make those circumstances a little harder it really outpaces the competition quickly and by a very large margin. Camera wise the Lumia 920 is a very good device.

Nokia Publishes Super-Sensitive Touch Update

Posted: 06 Dec 2012 06:19 AM PST

Nokia have published an update to the Lumia 920 (and 820 I think?) called “display + touch” which updates the Super Sensitive touch on WP8 devices. There currently isn’t any change-log available, but that shouldn’t stop you form updating should it?

Video: Unboxing of my Nokia Lumia 820

Posted: 06 Dec 2012 12:01 AM PST

Finally got the Nokia Lumia 820 today from my carrier. Haven’t seen many people getting the Lumia 820, as the flagship 920 has been taking the limelight. Check out my unboxing and then read on to see my initial thoughts on the device.

So as I said in the video, I got the Red version, with a bonus matte black shell. Swapping them is really nice and easy, but not that easy that it will be falling off at all anytime soon! Its super light, and feels really good to hold. I’ve pretty much only set up the device, and had a play of a few of the apps. I will bring you guys a review in about two weeks, and maybe before that will post up some sample pictures and videos.

My only grievance is with WP8, and not the Lumia 820. That grievance is that apps that were running perfectly fine on WP7 have issues on WP8 (such as Nokia Pulse) or have been removed from the store completely (eg. spotify and whatsapp). This will be fixed in due time, but it is still annoying.
