Nokia’s YouTube Video Upload App Now Available for All WP8 Lumias

Posted: 17 Aug 2013 08:28 AM PDT

DSC03349A while back Nokia released a new app for the Lumia 1020 (and other Amber devices) that allows you to upload videos from your gallery straight to youtube, without the need to capture the clip in an app first. A recent update to the app has made it accessible to all  WP8 devices (512Mb too) so be sure to grab it at the link below.

The app has a very simple interface that shows you all your video content in a gallery preview, with the option to view the clips, edit the title and privacy options before uploading. Unfortunately the app has to remain open for the upload to carry through :/ so no background upload support yet.

I uploaded a quick 4 second video sample which took more than I expected (around 10 minutes give or take for 7 Mbs):

Video: Topolino70′s stunning Nokia Lumia 1020 clip – A Summer Day

He’s back! It’s Topolino70 and a brand new video shot on the Nokia Lumia 1020.

This video is entirely shot vith Nokia Lumia 1020. The only editing done to video clips was that I used crossfading effect between the clips. In addition to that the first three clips are turned upside down. Clips themself are untouched meaning that no color, brightness or similar done to clips. This time I wanted to leave also audio untouched so that viewers can listen 1020 audio recording.

With 1020 there is no possibility to set contrast, vividness and sharpness before video shooting as with Pureview 808 so the untouched video comparison between them is not entirely fair. In my 808 pureview videos I usually used preset values +2 contrast and +2 vividness so those 808 clips usually did not need so much post processing.

Weekend Watch: Chris Pirillo with Nokia Lumia 1020 influencer pack unboxing

Another one of those Influencer packs from Nokia US made its way to LockerGnome, Chris Pirillo. He’s very open minded about all mobile OSes and already has a few Lumias at hand.

Interestingly he tries to set up the 1020 on camera. Not ideal as he already mentions one of his grips is requiring to log in to a Microsoft account without the phone letting you connect to WiFi first (it works ok if you have a SIM but annoying oversight by MS). You could alternatively SKIP all this after you’ve connected.

Another set back, the camera doesn’t seem to work properly for Chris with regards to flare he’s getting whilst taking pictures with flash. Hopefully he gets some actual use time with the 1020 in various conditions to see what everyone sees about the camera in the 1020.
