Here’s an interesting comparison. The Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 925 both on Nokia Amber and updated imaging algorithms go head to head at AAWP. I’m surprised by the conclusion. The 920 which was previously called out for being a bit soft and lacking detail now seems to have gone the oversharpening route.
I’ve been really impressed with the pictures I’m getting from the 925. I’m not sure if there’s an issue with my 920, but on the 925, I’m pretty much always getting the subjects correctly in focus, and thus a higher number of usable pictures. Perhaps it might also be a combination of the better image viewer in Amber (my 920 still doesn’t have it) and Pro Cam? Images I’ve zoomed in to prior to shooting currently looks better on my 920 (e.g. lecture slides). I can’t wait to get Amber for my 920. Aargh the wait! Cheers Alvester for the tip |

We were told today by a reader that the Nokia Amber update has arrived on their Nokia Lumia 720. I’m not particularly sure when it became available specifically for the 720 but it’s good to hear more customers are getting it. Here’s something peculiar. A Nokia 105 apparently with wireless charging. Now this is one of the most basic handsets Nokia has available. It’s not one of the mentioned features but you can see what looks like wireless charging in the video. However, it’s possible that it could be a mod on the battery cover (such accessories we demoed for the n97) or one of those weird Nokia bugs where the phone thinks it’s charging when it’s not (and thus displays a charging indicator/animation) and so could be placed on wireless chargers to make the appearance of charging wirelessly.

Despicable Me: Minion Rush is said to be one of the 15 Xbox games coming to Windows Phone 8 and W8. MS and Gameloft are working together to bring these titles to the WIndows platforms. 15 games are expected over the ‘next 12 months’ (12?) Other titles include:

| Traction: Nokia 6″ Phablet, with 1080p screen and S800 CPU Posted: 20 Aug 2013 07:26 AM PDT GSM Arena reports that new data from Adduplex strengthens previous rumours around the supposed Nokia Phablet. As previously postulated, despite mentions of a 720p display, since Nokia hasn’t yet put a phone put with that resolution (it is less than that found in 92x/1020 and different aspect ratio) so it’s thought that it’s a 1080p screen just showing up as 720p due to the scaling factor. It highlights an active night out, enjoying the life, taking pictures to remember the night except that unless your phone is a Nokia Lumia 925 (or of course associated variants) the pictures you take would just be worthless.

So last night was the first night at my new accommodation. The frustration of no internet must have affected my sleep as I woke abruptly at about 2am. Instead of trying to sleep I thought the darkness was the perfect time to test some things out with Nokia Pro Cam on the Nokia Lumia 925. Tired, no tripod, one person limits what I can shoot but I thought some of the results looked pretty cool. The ideas are here if anyone would like to take them further as I can’t at the moment whilst I’m at this placement. Settings are otherwise auto except shutter at 4 seconds. Now, something you see often is the movement of the light source to ‘draw’ on screen. 1) Hologram This first one reminded me of one of the Nokia N8 adverts where we saw screens left and right, like a hologram. The screen of a phone is very interesting. It’s nice to capture the detail. Moving it whilst the light is off can provide interesting patterns. But to make it look like a hologram, I took a second without light, shifted to one side and then turned on the screen on my iPad to provide that light. It illuminates what was in the left of the screen too making the previous ‘burned’ image look like it’s just hovering there. I tried to switch the tab to something else (applications) but that requires another pair of hands.
2) Multiple screens This just involves swiping the screen midway whilst moving it and then stopping when you reach the other side. Don’t swipe whilst you stop because this layers on the image.
This multit tile thing is done again at the end to make cool patterns
3) Pseudo panorama This requires a similar method to above, but requires a lot of dexterity/another person. Find an image you can pan across
4) Retro tiles
I’ll try to refine this and try other slow shutter stuff as I get more used to procam (and possibly get more hands to help/tripod). It’s interesting how well the 925′s OIS does considering I’m HOLDING it with my hands only for 4 seconds. |

Here’s a quick promo uploaded by Nokia US promoting Verizon which has the 928. I think I watched one recently by AT&T which pretty much said exactly the same thing by supposed ‘customers’.

The Nokia Lumia 925 has been spotted in the latest Music Video by Enrique Iglesias. In the song, “Turn the night up” the 925 is seen as well as the camera interface.
Also notice the high accessability mode to make the text larger .
