Rumor: Lumia 925 Coming to At&t Mid September for $99

Posted: 23 Aug 2013 03:39 PM PDT

DSC03189Earlier this week we heard a rumor from The Verge stating that the Lumia 925 will be coming to multiple US carriers soon. Now according to WPC the 925 will be available on Nokia’s favorite US partner mid september, priced at a very reasonable $99 with the usual 2 year imprisonment contract. If true At&t would have the full lineup of Nokia WP8 phones (short of the 720 and the 625), seeing how they have both the 520 and 620 available on their subsidiary networks.

Of course this is a pretty big deal seeing how Nokia almost had to beg carriers to carry their phones in the US two years ago, now having a complete line-up of their devices feels like a great achievement (Verizon still have to pick up the pace on adopting Nokia phones in my opinion).

What do you guys think? Anyone interested in grabbing the 925 but was tied down by carrier constraints?

How to Get the Facebook Messaging app on your Windows Phone

A lot of people don’t seem to realize that the standalone facebook messaging app is available on Windows Phone, at least sort of; so I went ahead and threw together a  quick video showing how to get it. Check it out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_9A2T6SBtA&feature=youtu.be

The messaging “app’ is hidden as part of the official facebook app (or Facebook beta), all you have to do is simply head to your inbox from the app and hit “pin to start” and wala!

In case for some crazy reason you don’t have it yet, grab the facebook app (or facebook beta from the links below)

Grab the Facebook app for Windows Phone 7 & 8 from here: http://goo.gl/CMmm1w
And if you’re running WP8 go ahead and try the Facebook Beta app from here: http://goo.gl/HiaDy4

Upcoming Lumia Update “Bittersweet Shimmer” to Be Bundled with GDR3 for WP8

Posted: 23 Aug 2013 02:38 PM PDT

altAuUj_mlexjRDcEFk7u2xs-cDg_sir510gB7R3FrFVK2C_jpgNokia released their own version of updates for WP8 starting with “Lumia Amber Update” packed with the GDR2 for all WP8 devices, and according to the screenshot above the next Nokia packaged update will be called “Bittersweet shimmer”. The update is said to be packed alongside the upcoming GDR3 (which brings 1080p screen, quad core support and possibly a notification center and rotation lock).

We had previously speculated that Nokia were following alphabetically ordered gemstones for their release iterations, but  it seems that it’s going with colors (this one happens to be a crayola crayon color). So what do you guys think of the name?

And more importantly when can we get this (I’m still waiting on Amber).

Steve Ballmer Stepping Down From Microsoft’s CEO Position

Posted: 23 Aug 2013 06:19 AM PDT

Steve Ballmer, current CEO of Microsoft, eccentric “Crazy dude” with a certainly “different” style has just announced in an open email that he plans to step down from his position as CEO of Microsoft within the next 12 months.

“We have embarked on a new strategy with a new organization and we have an amazing Senior Leadership Team. My original thoughts on timing would have had my retirement happen in the middle of our company's transformation to a devices and services company. We need a CEO who will be here longer term for this new direction.”

He has not yet announced a successor for the CEO position, but whoever it may be; I pray to god they take WP a bit more seriously.

Place your bets below on the next head honcho fo MSFT!

Lumiappdates: HD Photo Viewer

HD PhotoViewer is an app that lets you view your pictures to their maximum quality (as the default one tends to make your pictures look worse than what the camera has actually produced).

It’s been updated today but no signs on what specifically has changed.

Perhaps bug fixes?

I was a bit to trigger happy with the update button to note down the version number and date.

Mystery Guitar Man, Joe Penna. He’s super famous now on YouTube, particularly for his stop motion animations. I remember back in the days when YouTube was new and he had only a few thousand subs, MGM was real friendly and nice to chat to on forums. Now YouTube is his career with almost 3 million subscribers!

His latest video features our passion, NOKIA! Specifically the Nokia Lumia 1020. MGM is a very creative guy so it’s great to see him being creative with the best smartphone to create photos and videos with – the Nokia Lumia 1020.

931 images posted on facebook were used to make the stop motion animation. (Would we have liked a continuation of 1020 images :p only 89 more)

Kudos on AT&T for helping out with this feature. I like how at the end of the video, MGM does his bit to help educate on the 41MP zooming :D Wooo!

Lumia slightly becoming more mainstream :P

Cheers Alvester for the tip!
