Lumia 928 Spotted at Nokia Concert in NewYork

Mark from theNokiaBlog was at a Nokia hosted concert in NYC last night, where he spotted an interesting phone all housed in black; doing some stealth filming. The devices were recording the event for some reason (probably to demo the video sample at the launch), but where all encased in a shape obscuring black case; however Mark did assure us that the Xenon flash was unmistakable

I thought the event was about the Nokia Lumia 920, but it wasn't. I noticed several devices covered in black cases on tripods, monopods, and even carried by a few people walking around. It matched the description of the rumored Nokia Lumia 928. The xenon flash was unmistakable. I think the event was was set up to be filmed with several Nokia Lumia 928 devices. Nokia will probably publish this video during the launch.

The launch of the 928 is obviously imminent (I think it might be next week, but it’s definitely before the 14th); and the fact that they were filming with the device means the camera must be good huh? I’m thinking a F/1.9 aperture? that would take some great videos/images in the low light of concerts.

Any ideas folks?

Yay – 6″ Phablet Nokia Lumia – Nay – More carrier exclusivity?

Posted: 02 May 2013 11:32 PM PDT

Partnering with Carriers for Hero devices? Has that worked out? I’m not so sure. Perhaps it would have been nicer to see the same phone on all carriers. At least in the UK, I don’t feel EE really did anything with the exclusivity on the 920 other than possibly alienate the other mobile networks. Perhaps if you can launch them variants quickly and make them available simultaneously (like how it appears Sammy can rebadge the SGSII) until you have a device strong enough to be the one across all networks (S3/S4). Or perhaps if you’re as huge as China Mobile in comparison to the rest? Otherwise, carrier exclusivity just makes people WANT your phone whilst on other networks and buy SOMETHING ELSE.

These deals may help secure the phone to be cheaper on contract but at what price to general availability to customers? Fortunately the Lumia products have been strong enough to outsell competing WP devices despite(?) these carrier exclusivities.

Oh…

A 6″ Phablet to be launched Q3 2013 is expected to be in the price range of £400-500. Please no excessive bezel that could potentially fit a 7.5″ screen.

Something to start off your weekend, a nice chillaxing melody of a tune that speaks to Nokia fans, Grand Vals as popularised by Nokia.

Nokia Lumia 928 from Verizon coming with $25 WP store credit

Screen Shot 2013-05-03 at 06.54.23@evleaks tweeted this last night but I didn’t get around to posting:

$25 Windows Phone Store credit with purchase of upcoming Nokia Lumia 928 from Verizon

$25 to spend at WP Store. Not bad, good to add some apps that might otherwise put some buyers off that prefer ‘free only’.

Seems it’s nearing announcement? It kinda needs to given the impending launch possibly of the Catwalk/EOS, no?
