Mix Radio Lands on Asha Devices, Starting in Russia Posted: 30 May 2013 02:45 PM PDT   Today Nokia has announced that the amazing music streaming service, Nokia Music will be coming to some Asha devices. With most of the features available on the Lumia range, including offline mixes and personalized mixes as well; this means bringing Nokia’s library of over 24 MILLION tracks to a whole new group of users. The rollout service will star tin Russia and hopefully follow in the rest of the world soon enough: "We've had really positive feedback from users of Nokia Music on Lumia smartphones and we wanted more people to have access to this innovative, free music service. There's nothing quite like it for phones in this price range and I believe it will change the way many people listen to music in Russia. Unfortunately not all Asha devices are eligible for the service, the newer full touch Ashas seem to be getting most of the action, but that’s still a pretty amazing feat by Nokia. Nokia Music will only be available on new Nokia Asha Touch smartphones, which include: the Asha 305, 306 308, 309, 310 and 311 over the next few weeks, with the rollout beginning in Russia. There’s so much more we can do to help the planet by using our technology and resources to support environmental organisations such as WWF. Nokia and WWF have had a Global Partnership Agreement in place since 2003. In this video you can see some examples of our work between 2003-2013.

Green Lumia 920 Pops Up Down Under Posted: 30 May 2013 09:09 AM PDT A few of you have asked for this before, and it seems to finally be here; a green Lumia 920. A fresh breath of color into the 920′s spectrum, in some glossy green. The phone popped up on Australia’s E-Store with a price of $792 (Australian ofc). So what do you guys think? Anyone prefer the Minty green version over this darker one? Via

The Register: Nokia 808 PureView, 41MP Symbian’s heroic last stand, the smartphone that refuses to die Posted: 30 May 2013 08:46 AM PDT   Andrew Orlowski has been living with the Nokia 808 PureView and it seems to have made quite an impression. Although the Nokia 808 PureView has settled down a bit in terms of news articles, when you consider what Nokia has achieved with this ground breaking device, you just have to sit back down and exclaim, “Wow”. Phenomenal detail in a phone. The article will please those grasping on to Symbian as it’s quite a lengthy piece. You might not like what you read but it’s nice to have someone critique than to ignore, eh? We salute you, 808 PureView. We hope to see your spirit again, sometime soon hopefully in Nokia’s latest smartphones. Video: More Cinemastyle with Nokia 808 PureView Posted: 30 May 2013 12:07 AM PDT Bill Perry, Global Partner Manager for Imaging at Nokia has been filming with his Nokia 808 PureView whilst visiting Pfeiffer beach. This was done with a tripod or handheld – less equipment than the other cinemastyle videos you’ve seen here with the 808 or here with the 920. Spent some time in Big Sur on 18 May and made a trip to visit Pfeiffer Beach. After a 2 mile windy road arrived at the parking and it was a beautiful day however upon walking to the beach it was apparent it was very windy. This short movie should give you a sense of what it was like that day: the wind, the surf and at times the tranquility. All video was shot using my Nokia 808 PureView with either a tripod mount or just hand-held. I used a custom flat profile in creative mode so I could do my own post-processing. It also allows you to capture more details in the highlights and shadows that you can recover later. Nokia HERE Maps and Leap Motion to Merge – Air Gestures to fly 3D Maps Posted: 29 May 2013 11:34 PM PDT Leap motion is technology that allows the use of hand and finger air gestures to use multitouch control gestures on the screen. This means the ability to have touch screen inputs on regular, touch-free screens. Check it out in this first video. We may have have discussed this before. Leap Motion represents an entirely new way to interact with your computers. It’s more accurate than a mouse, as reliable as a keyboard and more sensitive than a touchscreen. For the first time, you can control a computer in three dimensions with your natural hand and finger movements. It makes sense particularly for Windows 8 which is said to best work with touch input. Whilst it could work, say, with a camera like Kinect, this method seems a lot more accurate. Now see what Nokia wants to do with it. It’s very Matrix/Iron-Man. All fancy stuff.
