BlackBerry 10 Lisbon Specs List Leaks Too Posted: 01 Oct 2012 12:15 PM PDT BlackBerry Laguna and London were already leaked today and now it’s the turn of BlackBerry Lisbon to leak, with a pretty similar specs list to the Laguna model. Laguna is actually the Verizon version of the handset, while the Lisbon is the exact same device, but in the AT&T and Canadian carrier version. We’re dealing with a phone that measures 9 mm in thickness and packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 CPU, like the Laguna. Other specs include a 4.2 inch display with a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution and 355 dpi, plus an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. The camera does 1080p 30 FPS capture and is accompanied by a 2 megapixel front camera. Finally, the phone offers a 1800 mAH battery, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, microSD card slot and micro HDMI out. LTE should also be on board I guess and this is a GSM model, from what I’ve heard. It runs BlackBerry 10 OS and it’s part of the L Series, together with London and Laguna. We’ve yet to see a phone design for the Laguna/Lisbon, that may differ slightly. We all know how Samsung Galaxy units are tweaked for various US carriers and that may also be the case for new BlackBerry models. Related posts: |
Windows Phone 8 Handsets Compared in Thickness and Weight: Fattest Versus Slimmest Here! Posted: 01 Oct 2012 11:26 AM PDT The folks of WP7.nl gathered some facts regarding the latest Windows Phone 8 devices and some WP7.5 units from Nokia and integrated them into a comparison graph regarding sizes. As you know, traditionally Windows Phone devices have had appealing design, but they were usually pretty massive and bulky. And so are the new Lumias… Internal specs are not everything that matters when buying a new phone and design is crucial to some. So the new Lumias may be pretty, but they’re pretty fat. Let’s see just how beefed up they are! The comparison here includes Samsung Ativ S, Nokia Lumia 920 and 820, HTC 8X and 8S, Nokia Lumia 900 and Lumia 800. The thinnest handset is Samsung Ativ S, with a 8.7 mm waistline, while the lightest is HTC 8S, at 113 grams. The thickest is Nokia Lumia 800, at 12.1 mm and the heaviest is also a Nokia, Lumia 920, at 185 grams in weight. Meanwhile, the Nokia Lumia 820 measures 9.9 mm, weighs 160 grams and the Lumia 900 has the same weight, but more thickness, at 11.5 mm. Both HTC new models with WP8 barely pass the 10 mm mark, so they’re not exactly thin. In the meantime in the Android world, devices have already gone under 7 mm in thickness and they try to get below 110 grams or even lower… Would you sacrifice design for the sake of owning a new Lumia? BlackBerry London Leaks as Specs List, With BB 10 OS on Board Posted: 01 Oct 2012 09:39 AM PDT Today we already informed you that the BlackBerry Laguna leaked, as one of the L Series BB 10 OS handsets and now we’ve got an older acquaintance of ours, BlackBerry London, also leaked. It has 90% of the specs of the Laguna, aside from the CPU choice, that this time is a TI OMAP instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4. BlackBerry London R072 measures 9mm in thickness, supports 21 Mbps HSPA+ connectivity and features a 4.2 inch display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and 355 dpi pixel density. Other features include an 8 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, backed by a front 2 megapixel camera. The main cam also does Full HD video capture. Inside the handset we find 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash and a hot swappable microSD card slot. WiFi is on board, as well as a 4G mobile hotspot feature. GPS, NFC, microUSB, micro HDMI out, WiFi Direct, DLNA and for some reason Bluetooth 2.1 not 4.0 are included on the leaked specs list. We advise you to take the info with a grain of salt, since anyone can fake a list. Finally, there’s a 1800 mAh battery inside the BlackBerry London. Let me remind you that the BB L Series is supposed to include models like the London, Laguna and Lisbon, while the N Series packs two QWERTY units. Related posts: |
Nokia Lumia 900 Prototype Uses a Curved Screen, Spotted in Nokia Factory Tour Posted: 01 Oct 2012 09:28 AM PDT The folks of Engadget recently had the chance to tour Nokia’s facilities in Finland and they got a shot of a Nokia Lumia 900 prototype, that’s shown below. Turns out that the device was designed initially with a curved display, just like the Lumia 800, but along the way the Finnish giant changed its mind. The Nokia Lumia 920 brings the curved display back, so what actually went wrong with the Lumia 900? People commenting on our source link’s website claim to be in the know and they say that Nokia wasn’t satisfied with the durability of the curved screen and also they had issues with stability, weight and thickness. The Nokia Lumia 900 is still a behemoth of a phone and it could have been even thicker like this. It also appears that if they had adopted that technology the result would have been a handset with a diagonal line that wasn’t stable enough. The Nokia Lumia 920 suffered some back case design changes to fit the curved screen on board and even the back of the phone is slightly curved, apparently. I expect that they develop the idea even more in the future since to me it seems that implementing a curved display on a device nowadays automatically means bulking it up… Related posts: |
Tizen 2.0 Spotted Running on Mystery Samsung Device (GT-i9500) Posted: 01 Oct 2012 03:04 AM PDT Tizen 2.0, an OS codenamed Magnolia has recently been spotted running on a mystery Samsung device, with the codename GT-I9500. This is a reference device that was leaked under this codename a couple of months back and apparently it was handed out late last year to Tizen OS developers and partners. The interface here is mostly the same as the one on Tizen 1.0 (codenamed Larkspur), with the most changes happening under the hood. Samsung is expected to unveil its first Tizen OS phone at Mobile World Congress 2013, or at best later this year. A couple of days ago Tizen 2.0 alpha code got a release, but it wasn’t made available for phones or tablets. Tizen is an open source operating system for phones, tablets and other mobile devices. It’s backed by companies such as Samsung, Intel, Orange and Vodafone. Tizen 2.0 alpha offered improved HTML5/W3C API support, better support for OpenGL ES graphics and other enhancements, like support for subtitles and captions in HTML5 video. There are also new tools available that enable app creators to control power resources and send notifications to users. Related posts: |
BlackBerry Laguna Leaks, Headed For Verizon With Snapdragon S4 CPU Posted: 01 Oct 2012 02:25 AM PDT There’s a fresh Blackberry in town, a leaked model courtesy of Rapidberry, who published some interesting details about a new BB 10 OS model, apparently headed for Verizon. The name of the newcomer is BlackBerry Laguna (R069) and we’re dealing with a phone that measures 9 mm in thickness and packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 dual core CPU. There’s also LTE connectivity on board, as well as dual band CDMA and UMTS. The device packs a 4.2 inch display with a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution and 15:9 aspect ratio, if there is such a thing. At the back of the BB 10 OS device there’s an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, plus 1080p recording at 30 FPS, while at the front there’s a 2 megapixel camera. Other specs include 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash storage, a microSD card slot (hot swap), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n and GPS. NFC, micro HDMI, WiFi Direct and DLNA are also here, as well as Bluetooth 2.1 and a removable 1800 mAh battery. Seeing how a recent leak of info said that RIM and Qualcomm have quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro phones planned for 2013, the Laguna sounds rather like a midrange model, don’t you think? Related posts: |
