Google and LG Preparing to Unveil New Nexus Phone At the end of the Month Posted: 06 Oct 2012 01:27 PM PDT A couple of days ago we found out that the next Google Nexus phone may end up being a slightly tweaked LG Optimus G. Now the information is back, this time confirmed by several other reports, including a pretty serious one from CET. The handset is expected to be announced at the end of the month, according to an insider and it even gets to keep the specs of the Optimus G. It will still be modified to be made fit for the Nexus program. Google and LG aren’t yet sure how to name the product, with previous speculations gravitating around the name Nexus G. LG could use a reputation boost, especially in USA, where the brand is not that well known. However, a Nexus phone with Android 4.2 may do wonders for the brand and generate some buzz in the Android developer and fan community. If you want to know specs, the Optimus G has a Qualcomm quad core processor of the Snapdragon kind, 2 GB of RAM, a 1280 x 768 true HD IPS display and an 8 megapixel camera. It also comes with a non removable battery and it will have no microSD card slot and only 8/16GB of storage. Rumors also say that LG is not the only company building a Nexus phone, as some other handset manufacturers are lining up for the task. Will we enter November with a quartet or more Nexus Phones? Have your say in the comments area! Related posts: |
Motorola RAZR i and RAZR HD Get Added to Motorola’s Bootloader Unlock Program Posted: 06 Oct 2012 12:41 PM PDT Motorola continues its open source/ user friendly policy of offering bootloader unlock for its devices, this time for the RAZR i and RAZR HD models. The bootloader unlock covers the RAZR HD models in Europe, Australia, South American and on Rogers, in Canada, while the RAZR is covered for all the regions in the world. The bootloader unlock program is a way to modify software easily on Motorola phones without making consumers purchase an unlocked developer edition of the handsets. The US Droid RAZR HD will be one of those models with that requirement, needing a special version purchase. In case you’re not familiar with such customizations, know that unlocking the boot loader allows the user to apply custom ROMs on their handsets. Standard users are advised not to unlock the boot loader if they don’t know what they’re doing. The idea is that you may void your warranty on your phone or the warranty from your operator if you mess with the bootloader. Anyway, if you feel that Moto is too slow when providing software updates and want to use CyanogenMod 10 and the likes on your device, a boot loader unlock is what you need. Related posts: |
HTC One X+ Up for Preorder on Expansys Posted: 06 Oct 2012 01:41 AM PDT Online retailer Expansys is now listing the HTC One X+ Android smartphone, that was just announced this week. Although there’s no information about the pricing or the exact date of release, Expansys has a track record of being consumer friendly and not offering any risks for clients. They offer the option to confirm the purchase even after the preorder has taken effect and the handset arrives in stock and you can cancel your preorder without special chargers. The handset is listed as being unlocked, so it will be available free of commitment and with full price. Recently UK retailer Clove started listing the flagship smartphone with a price tag of 474 quid. The price applies for preorders of the device and initial stocks are said to arrive at the end of the current month. The One X+ only offers as extra the 1.7 GHz Tegra 3 CPU, a slightly bigger battery and red accents in some areas of the case. The handset keeps the 4.7 inch IPS screen with 720p resolution, 1 GB of RAM, lack of microSD card and apparently it will come with 32 GB or 64 GB of storage. Related posts: |
