Leak or Fake: Verizon Nokia Lumia 9xx super blurry pic

Posted: 12 Oct 2012 04:00 PM PDT

Remember this?

That was a supposed leak of a Nokia PureView, prior to the first Nokia PureView, the Nokia Lumia 920. This does sport the bright yellow that many have found appealing. Notice the squircle-ish shape of the camera hole.

We have previously seen another, more Lumia-esque (fabula design) case with a similar shaped square hole for what seemed to be a larger camera.

The new picture circulating around may be some attempt at trolling or it might indeed be another upcoming PureView.

It looks like an LED light to me. It might very well be and the camera bit is still somewhere else.

The source is @NokiaPureView who claims this to be Verizon’s Nokia Lumia 9xx. Some of our readers doubt whether that source is actually credible.

Anssi Vanjoki possibly new CEO of Vertu which ditches Symbian for Android

Posted: 12 Oct 2012 03:44 PM PDT

First and foremost, Anssi Vanjoki might be returning to a once Nokia related position, ex Nokia subsidiary, Vertu. Vertu is the luxury phone brand that defies all sense of logic because people that own it seem to have more money than sense. Well, they just have a lot of money full stop. Nokia decided that it would focus on core businesses and sold off Vertu. Now TechCrunch reckon, Vanjoki may take the position as CEO.

Furthermore, Symbian (only a recent addition to Vertu) will supposedly be ditched in favour of Android. Jordan Crook and Steve O’Hear of TechCrunch see WP8 as more fitting to their luxury OS thing but Android would be easier to sell.

In a small way, since Nokia still owns 10% of Vertu, it’s kinda nice to think Anssi is still somewhat connected again to Nokia (and oddly making Android).

Nokia and tech giants talk on ending patent wars (+MS sues Google directly?)

Posted: 12 Oct 2012 03:24 AM PDT

HuffPo reports that Nokia, along with MS, Sammy, Google, Apple, Orange, Panasonic, Phillips, RIM and Qualcomm (and possible others) are meeting to sort the kerfuffle of Patents. Whether they hinder or promote innovation, there are several issues around the patent system that needs resolving.

The discussions will apparently focus on:

reducing the tensions between the standard, patent and competition law systems

Whilst we’re here, Engadget reports that Microsoft sued Google directly now over Android instead of via a Google Partner.

Swiss National Bank invests further in Finland, becomes 5th biggest investor of Nokia

Posted: 12 Oct 2012 03:16 AM PDT

The Swiss National Bank has increased their investments in Finnish business, one of which includes Nokia.

http://www.helsinkitimes.fi/news/index.php/business/3883-swiss-national-bank-bumps-investments-to-finland

The tipper left the message:

Swiss National Bank (SNB, Swiss Central Bank) becomes 5th biggest Nokia stakeholder

The Swiss National Bank (remember: This bank saves switzerlands economy from ruptures inside of the EU and has very very often a very gold hand with their deals) invests in finland so it becomes the 5th biggest Stakeholder of Nokia.
