Posted: 31 Aug 2012 11:13 AM PDT Huawei was also present in Berlin, at IFA 2012, where it announced the Ascend G600 handset, available next month in select markets. The G600 features a 4.5 inch qHD display, Android 4.0.4 and a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, as well as 4 GB of onboard storage. The device also sports the brand new Emotion UI. Huawei Ascend G600 will be available in Mysterious Black or Pure White and it also packs an 8 megapixel BSI camera with autofocus, dual speakers with DTS surround sound and a LCD IPS HD panel for the screen. Under the hood we find a 1930 mAH Li-Polymer battery and Huawei promises a full charge in 4 hours, power on in 5 seconds and 15 days of standby functioning. The phone also offers WiFi Direct, Bluetooth, DLNA, 768 MB of RAM, microUSB 2.0 connectivity and a microSD slot too. The phone has a glossy finish shell, like the P1 and its screen gets Gorilla Glass protection. This model costs $375 and it will reach the stores in September, with NFC. The newcomer measures 10.5 mm in thickness and in case you’re wondering, the new Emotion UI skin for Android has a uni Home screen, that integrates both the typical homescreen and the app drawer in a single place. Apps can be arranged into folders and deleting an app icon also uninstalls it now. You also get 6 preinstalled fresh themes for the phone. Related posts: |
HTC Accord Windows Phone 8 Device Leaked, Features Dual Core Snapdragon CPU, 8 MP Camera Posted: 31 Aug 2012 08:44 AM PDT HTC was rumored for a while now to be preparing 3 Windows Phone 8 devices for a September debut, with the 3 models being HTC Rio, Accord and Zenith. Now with IFA already started, we may actually see the new models in Berlin, or we may have to wait a big longer. Luckily we got a fresh leak, the one of the HTC Accord, courtesy of Twitter account @Football4PDA. This picture you see above was posted on Twitter by this XDA Developers member and it was confirmed to be obtained from a HTC ROM, showing off the render of a never before seen device. It may be running Windows Phone 7, but this handset does have an unusual color for the HTC WP7 units we’re used to. Other than Nokia I can’t remember any other company playing with joyful colours in the WP segment. Anyway, we also get some specs with the newcomer, stuff like a 1.5 GHz dual core MSM8960 chip, the same one that’s on the Galaxy S III, USA version. HTC Accord also uses a 4.3 inch 720p display, a Super LCD 2 one for that matter, as well as an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p capture, microSD card support and NFC. Samsung already broke the ice by unveiling the first WP8 device, Ativ S and now it’s the turn of Nokia on September 5th to debut their new Lumias. When will HTC also launch its new generation of Windows Phone models? Related posts: |
Nokia Lumia 920 With PureView Camera and Nokia Lumia 820 (Arrow?) Supposedly Pictured Posted: 31 Aug 2012 08:29 AM PDT The leak of the day comes from @evleaks, that supposedly showed the world two upcoming Nokia Lumia handsets, the Lumia 920 model with PureView camera and the Nokia Lumia 820, that looks very much like the Arrow handset leaked yesterday. First is the Nokia Lumia 820, looking like the Arrow and evolving on the idea of the N9/Lumia 800, with a rectangular design and rounded corners. The Lumia 820 is supposed to be a 4.3 inch device, so I expect it to be in the lower range of handsets with Windows Phone 8, while Nokia Lumia 920 is a bomb, with a 4.5 inch curvy screen that I suppose has a HD resolution and a Nokia Pureview camera on board. I’m suspicious about the Pureview part, since the handset has no hump and no Xenon flash, so let’s put a pin in that. As you can see the entire phone is actually pretty rounded, but overall it keeps the same feeling as the one of the N9. Buttons at the bottom are still capacitive on both these leaked models, so it’s nothing truly revolutionary, come to think about it. Under the hood I expect to find dual core CPUs, 1GB of RAM, a microSD card slot and 16GB of storage. Real or fake? What do you think? Related posts: |
IFA 2012: Haier Gets In the Smartphone and Tablet Game Posted: 31 Aug 2012 01:56 AM PDT We know about Huawei, ZTE, Pantech, Fujitsu and other companies from Asia that have entered the Android device game, but Haier is a new name in that area. They’ve unveiled at IFA 2012 a new tablet and smartphone, that they intend to take over the market with, or at least make their name matter. Chinese company Haier unveiled the Maxi Pad tablet and the 5.3 inch phablet Phone Pad 551. This one supports a 940 x 540 pixel resolution and runs on a mystery version of Android, that hasn’t been mentioned. It could be Android 4.0 or maybe a surprise Jelly Bean preinstallation. Also on board we find an 8 megapixel rear camera, 4 GB of on board storage, WiFi and 3G, plus GPS. The device doesn’t have a price and neither does another new entry, the 7 inch Haier tablet with Android 4.0 ICS on board and a Cortex A8 processor. The phone pictured here, or better said the phablet looks pretty solid and all squared up, without too many curves. I supposed it will have a low price and so will the new Haier tablets, as the brand tries to enter the market with an appealing price point and make a name for itself. Related posts: |
AT&T Pantech Magnus P9090 Gets Pictured, Sounds Like Pantech Vega 2 Posted: 31 Aug 2012 01:09 AM PDT Engadget managed to score some photos of the Magnus, a Pantech phone coming to AT&T that has quite a bunch of specs in common with the Vega Racer 2. However, the design is not at all similar, as shown in the picture below. We see both the front and the rear here and I can say that this model looks like a pretty cheap unit. It does come with a HD display, LTE connectivity, an 8 megapixel camera with flash at the back and a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. There’s also Android 4.0 ICS on board preinstalled on the handset and we have no idea when AT&T will decide to release the Pantech Magnus to the wide market. That’s supposed to happen soon enough. The only thing I like about this model is the back side, that looks like the one of a high tech HTC and what I don’t like is the camera area, with that strange blue ring around the camera sensor and the flash placed below it, like it’s there by mistake.
