Samsung Galaxy S4 Supposedly Spotted in Benchmark, With Cortex A15 Processor Posted: 19 Sep 2012 11:27 AM PDT The week started with a nifty rumor about the Samsung Galaxy S4, supposed to come at MWC 2013, for an official unveiling. Following that story, put out there by a Korean publication, Samsung took to Twitter to dismiss all rumors and advise us not to believe in speculations. And now on day 3 of the same week we’ve spotted a benchmark of a mystery Samsung phone, that might just the Galaxy S4. Rightware’s test results show us a model called Samsung TE4 with a Cortex A15 processor, exactly the same that Samsung demoed for its future products. The TE4 is said to be an Android handset, with a 1280 x 752 pixel resolution, as shown by the benchmark. It also packs a dual core 1.7 GHz Cortex A15 processor, that uses the already famous Mali T604 GPU, that generates the superb graphics shown in the video below. The real identity of the SoC could be Exynos 5 in the end, a CPU that was demoed weeks ago and was found to be very impressive. Samsung is expected to deny once again this leak, but in the end this model could be something else entirely and not the Galaxy S4. The idea of a new Galaxy Nexus is not that far fetched, seeing how the anniversary of Android is getting closer and closer and a new Nexus phone should be incoming. What would you be more excited about? Galaxy S4 or the Galaxy Nexus 2? Related posts: |
Enter the HTC 8X and 8S – Windows Phone 8 Powered Smartphones. Watch the Entire Event Here Posted: 19 Sep 2012 10:52 AM PDT I had the opportunity to witness the long-awaited HTC conference to announce the two Windows Phone 8 terminals , models to be considered a symbol of all that is the new version of Microsoft’s operating system. The duration of the event was shorter than I expected, without getting into the hardware specifications of the new devices. HTC has made a considerable effort to design and complete the two smartphones with Windows 8 they announced today. HTC CEO Peter Chou took the stage for several minutes to express his enthusiasm about the devices and close collaboration with Microsoft to create two smartphones to be considered an emblem for the WP8 OS. It was then up to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to express his satisfaction with what HTC has managed to design. He talked a bit about the new Microsoft operating system for mobile devices, which aims to be the simplest, yet advanced OS for smartphones and tablets. The attention during the event was focused on the new flagship HTC device with WP8, called simply, to symbolize the main feature of Microsoft’s new operating system, the HTC 8X. One of the main features of the device is the camera, which has the same sensor for the main camera, including functions, present on the flagship Android smartphone, the One X. The front camera however has received a major upgrade with a BSI sensor of 2.1 MP and Full HD (1080p) video recording capabilities. Beats Audio is first implemented in a WP8 smartphone and HTC has included even an audio amplifier that works both for listening music when using headphones and speakers. The hardware configuration for the HTC 8X includes a 4.3-inch 720 Super LCD 2 display with Gorilla Glass 2 protection, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset with two Krait cores clocked at 1.5GHz, Adreno 225 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The smartphone measures in at 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1mm and weighs 130g. Like I said, the presentation took place around the peak-oriented model and the one in the middle class did not really stand out unless it was an overview. Due to the unique design, typical for HTC, and Microsoft’s operating system the HTC 8S can be considered one reference model too for the new version of Windows OS. The hardware configuration is modest and many of the features that make the 8X unique in its class have been stripped with this model. The Camera is a modest 5MP shooter and Beats Audio is currently only a software feature, without special hardware. Probably because of the minimum requirements for the new OS HTC has dropped the launch of an entry-level model – HTC 8V. Features of the hardware configuration for the 8S include a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset that runs on a 1GHz dual-core Krait CPU and Adreno 225 GPU, 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot. with a 4-inch capacitive Super LCD screen of WVGA resolution, with Gorilla Glass protection. Both handsets will be available in early November, with coverage for 150 major network operators, in more than 50 countries, although the HTC press release did not mention pricing details. There will be several colors, including for the HTC 8X - California Blue, Graphite Black, Flame Red and Limelight Yellow. Below – watch the entire video conference:

HTC Accord Baring the Verizon Logo Surfaces Again Posted: 19 Sep 2012 02:58 AM PDT We are hours away from the HTC media event held in New York City, where we expect important unveilings of new Windows devices. It is believed that at least three new handsets will be unveiled today, all powered by Windows Phone 8. HTC Accord, also known as the HTC 8X or the HTC 8S, surfaced on the internet a while back. This time Phonearena managed to get some images with the device expected to be unveiled today. The smartphone is headed to Verizon, judging by the presence of the carrier’s logo on the device’s back. The images also confirm a WP8 specific function which is said to allow users to limit the access to certain handset functions in order to make the device safe for kids to play with. Other features of the handset that are known are 4G LTE network capabilities, Beats Audio technology, front and rear camera and a dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset clocked at 1.5GHz. The smartphone is said to have a 4.3-inch screen, SLCD2 variety, with a resolution of 720 by 1280 pixels. The HTC Media event starts at 11:00AM sharp (EST) and we’ll get all the info then. HTC Accord (8X) Leaks Ahead of Today’s Unveiling; Picture Here! Posted: 19 Sep 2012 02:48 AM PDT HTC Accord has been leaked before in a supposed press shot, but in the meantime it got rebranded to HTC 8X and it’s launching today in a special HTC event in New York City. The launch event starts in about 5 hours and meanwhile we’ve just spotted a Verizon branded leaked picture of the handset. Aside from the HTC Accord/8X, the Taiwanese company will also launch two new models called Rio and Zenith, if previous rumors were true. All of the newcomers are Windows Phone 8 units, probably most of them with Snapdragon S4 processors. The HTC 8X supports Verizon’s 4G LTE network and it should come with a 4.3 inch HD display, dual core Snapdragon CPU, NFC, an 8 megapixel rear camera, 8 or 16 GB of storage and a front camera. There’s a bit of a debate going around the microSD card slot, that initially was rumored to not be included, but now it is. Verizon is already preparing to introduce the Nokia Lumia 820, so its Windows Phone 8 offer will get diversified today. From the other rumors in the past we knew that HTC Accord has a kickass 8 megapixel camera, maybe using that ImageSense technology that worked so well on HTC One Series devices. We’ll know more in a few hours! Related posts: |
ZTE Grand Era U985 Quad Core Phone Unveiled in China Posted: 19 Sep 2012 02:17 AM PDT ZTE has just unveiled a new smartphone, the Grand Era U985, a quad core device that will debut in China in a couple of days. The handset features a quad core Tegra 3 processor and uses a 4.5 inch 720p display, while at the back there’s an 8 megapixel camera. This model brings support for local TD-SCDMA networks and as far as design goes, the camera area looks pretty unique, while the lower hump reminds me of the Galaxy Nexus a bit. ZTE also says that this is the slimmest quad core smartphone, which is not exactly a true statement, but even Apple is claiming they made the thinnest smartphone with the iPhone 5 so… In fact, at 8.6 mm in thickness the Grand Era U985 is thicker than the LG Optimus G, with a 8.45 mm waistline and a quad core Snapdragon S4 processor. ZTE Grand Era U985 also seems to have a front camera and seems to run Android 4.0 with some minor UI customizations. ZTE is also preparing to launch new handsets soon, including the Grand Era LTE, Grand V970 and U930, that will come in the following days. Related posts: |
