AT&T LG Escape Leaked in Fresh Picture, With Specs Posted: 09 Sep 2012 09:41 AM PDT LG Escape has just been leaked again, this time courtesy of Twitter account @evleaks, that posted an image of the device and some specs. We’re dealing with an AT&T 4G LTE smartphone, that packs a 4.3 inch qHD IPS display and has a back texture that reminds me just a bit of the Nexus 7. This model also comes with a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, a 5 megapixel camera at the back and a 1.3 megapixel front shooter. There’s also NFC in the mix, 4G LTE and a 2150 mAh battery. Android 4.0 ICS is the OS here and past rumors said something about 1 GB of RAM, that sounds just about right. The phone uses 3 capacitive buttons under the display, predictable for an ICS model. Of course, this is no high end phone, like the LG Optimus G, but at least it will come at a decent price point. I say that you keep your eyes on @evleaks since they’ve been having a great track record lately, revealing real pics of the Lumia 820 and 920 ahead of the launch and now this. Related posts: |
HTC Sues Apple for LTE Patents, Might Actually Win and Ban the iPhone 5 and LTE iPad Posted: 09 Sep 2012 03:56 AM PDT With the Apple versus Samsung case now behind us, although not entirely, it’s time to focus on another duel of the giants: HTC versus Apple. This time HTC actually has a case, since they were the first company to bring a touchscreen LTE phone to the USA and they have the patents to prove it. While a LTE iPhone isn’t available yet, when it will come, HTC may just manage to take it off the US market. The thing is that HTC purchased the patents from ADC Telecommunications in April 2011 for $75 million and Apple used this as argument to try and dismiss HTC’s claims. They said that the patents are invalid because HTC purchased them for aggressive use in court only. Judge Thomas Pender dismissed the argument quickly, but Apple could be saved by the FRAND pricing for patents, that allows them to get the license at a fair price. If HTC wins this, they have the right to seek an important ban in USA for the LTE iPhone and they can also ban the LTE iPad. Of course, Apple will do everything to stop this and they may remind HTC that because of them they had models like the HTC One X stuck at the customs for a while for patent breach. In other news, during the court sessions Judge Pender asked Apple lawyer Michael McKeon if there’s new iPhone coming, with a bigger screen and thinner, since he claims he didn’t know that. McKeon only claimed “that’s what the blogs are saying”, which sounds like Apple’s usual secrecy. Related posts: |
HTC’s New Windows Phone 8 Devices Analyzed: Rumors, Specs, Leaks Posted: 09 Sep 2012 02:17 AM PDT After Nokia and Samsung started the wave of unveilings related to the Windows Phone 8 debut, it’s time for HTC to take a stand. The Accord model has been leaked a lot lately, especially in pictures that actually look nice and yesterday there was also an official name leaked for the device: HTC 8X. Now we have a fresh batch of rumors that details all 3 upcoming WP8 models from HTC: Accord, Zenith and Rio. First things first, their codenames! Zenith will actually end up being the HTC 8X, while the Accord will be HTC 8S and Rio will be HTC 8V. HTC is preparing a September 19th event and while some want to see their phablet or a new tablet there, they will probably unveil this Windows Phone 8-based trio. The family of devices is dubbed HTC 8, with the figure being the common name of the new products. HTC 8X will be the flagship, while the HTC 8S will be a midrange phone and the 8V will be an entry level unit. HTC 8X is supposed to feature a 4.7 inch Super LCD 2 screen with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, a dual core Snapdragon S4 processor, an 8 megapixel camera, FNC and support for 42 Mbps HSPA+ connectivity. Moving on to the HTC 8S, this one is supposed to come with a 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 CPU, a 4.3 inch Super LCD HD screen and 8 megapixel camera. It also has 8 GB of storage or 16 GB, plus a microSD card slot and NFC. Finally, the HTC 8V offers a 4 inch WVGA display, a dual core Snapdragon S4 proc, 512 MB of RAM and a 5 MP camera. Obviously, you should take the rumors with a grain of salt, but they do seem solid this time. Related posts: |
