Apple’s Phil Schiller Supposedly Responds to Fan’s Worried Mail About iPhone 5 Scuff Gate

Posted: 26 Sep 2012 02:35 PM PDT

We’ve written about the Scuff Gate iPhone 5 scandal immediately when it appeared and now it turns out that even Apple officials are aware of the problem and even ready to comment on it. Supposedly Apple’s Phil Schiller took the time to respond to a worried iPhone 5 owner’s email and he even did that early in the morning according to the screenshot above.

Of course, this could be easily faked, but it’s just the simplicity of the fake that makes me think… it’s not a fake. I guess that in a couple of days we should be hearing from Apple, since they never let scandals like this go by without reacting. One Antenna gate was enough and then the Battery Gate from last year, that passed very fast… and now Scuff Gate may seem like a minor thing, but chipping and scratches have long time haunted the HTC One S, so this must be handled in the right way.

Let me remind you that the black version of the iPhone 5 is prone to scratches on the sides that reveal the metal underneath with a silver shine. So, what do you make of this? Fake or real? How would Steve Jobs react to this is he were still here?

Samsung Galaxy Music Phone is Actually a New Device, Midrange Handset With Small 3 Inch Display

Posted: 26 Sep 2012 09:30 AM PDT

Remember when Samsung published early this week a list of devices they will update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean? Well, on that list there was a mystery device called Galaxy Music, that people rushed to call a rebranding of their latest generation of media players. Well, actually that’s a new phone, that’s now been leaked in full.

So, we’re dealing with the Samsung Galaxy Music, a handset that will get the Jelly Bean update at some point, after the initial debut with Android 4.0 ICS on board. Obviously, the device is targeted to music buffs and it comes with front facing loudspeakers, a dedicated music keys to open the music player, FM radio with built in FM antenna, Samsung’s SoundAlive technology and SRS. The source of the leak is also saying that Samsung will integrate its Music Hub service into the product, somehow.

As far as hardware goes, the handset will be a midrange unit with dual SIM and single SIM versions, Android 4.0 ICS and a 3 inch display. There’s an 850 MHz CPU inside, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot and a 3 megapixel camera. If this one’s more than $200 it’s a ripoff!

RIM Showcases New BlackBerry 10 Features at BB Jam Conference (Video)

Posted: 26 Sep 2012 09:22 AM PDT

RIM CEO Thorsten Heins was on stage yesterday at the latest BlackBerry Jam developers conference, to showcase a bunch of new features of the BlackBerry 10 platform. Slated to go live in early 2013, this new OS will either make or break RIM for the future years, so the expectations are high. The main new features presented were BlackBerry Flow, a series of minimized windows with the currently running apps and BlackBerry Hub, a sort of notification/communication area.

The BlackBerry Flow shows a series of minimized windows on the BlackBerry handset screen, also showing all the apps that are running at a certain time. That’s sort of a multitasking feature if you ask me and the cool thing about this is that you actually get to see the apps as thumbnails and flip through them without having to go back to the central home screen. BlackBerry Hub is a message center, that handles texts, multiple email accounts, BlackBerry Messenger and social networking, all in one place.

It even serves as an event notification system that lets the user know when an event is coming up and also provides a list of contacts that will be attending. RIM also revealed that the BlackBerry App World store will provide music, movies and TV shows, much like the Play Store and Apple iTunes have been doing. BB 10 is still on schedule for early 2013 with those rumored L Series phones, but the testing of the platform will already being this fall, so expect further leaks.

Here’s the video of the event:
