New iPhone 5 Dummy Leaks Ahead of Tomorrow’s Debut Posted: 11 Sep 2012 01:13 PM PDT Tomorrow, September 12th is the big debut day for the iPhone 5, a device that we’ve been waiting for a long time. It will change the diagonal of the iPhone for the first time and it will also bring a new connector port and that’s only two of the things that we know about the device. Who knows what other feature swill change? Anyway we’ve got two fresh pics of the handset in the dummy version, shown below. We’ve rarely seen the phone in full, totally assembled, since it was leaked either hollow on the inside, or with components separated from the main assembly. We’ve managed to spot a video of the handset booting, but that’s the maximum of leaks so far, so I can say Apple kept the secret pretty tight to the chest. I’m extremely surprised that there was no leak regarding the CPU and RAM of the handset, but as usual, we’ll have to wait many weeks to learn just how much RAM is inside. One thing is for sure: the new phone will be longer, it will have a 4 inch display, bigger resolution, that gives you an extra row of icons and it has largely metal plate at the back bordered by two strips made from another material, at the top and bottom, as shown in the pictures here. Can we still be surprised by Apple tomorrow? Related posts: |
Oppo Find 5 is a New Phablet With 1080p Display, Quad Core Snapdragon CPU Posted: 11 Sep 2012 04:31 AM PDT Oppo is not only the Chinese company with the world’s thinnest smartphone, but also the company that unveiled a very appealing 5 inch phablet. This model looks exactly like some older iPhone concepts and it brings a Full HD screen and I bet that the waistline is slim, just like on the older phones. Oppo supports a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, translating to an impressive 441 ppi pixel density. That’s higher than any handset on the market, including the iPhone 4S with its Retina Display getting only 326 ppi. Oppo Find 5 is not yet a final name for this product, that also comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, running on top of a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. I supposed that 2GB of RAM are also on board, as well as 16 GB of storage and possibly an 8 megapixel camera at the back. Considering Oppo has made a name for itself on the market of skinny phones, I would be surprised if this device were any thicker than 7 mm. I can’t wait to see it on the market and I’m confident it will be much cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Note II, for example. Related posts: |
iPhone 5 Sales Could Boost US GNP by 0.5% in Q4 Posted: 11 Sep 2012 04:00 AM PDT If you think that Apple didn’t matter that much in the big picture, you may be surprised to find out that they might actually bring in a 0.5% boost of the GNP in Q4 with the iPhone 5 alone. For those of you unfamiliar with the economic terms, GNP stands for the total amount of goods and services produced inside a country. J.P. Morgan’s chief US economist Michael Feroli expects Apple to move 8 million units of the new smartphone in that last quarter this year. This doesn’t even include the sales of other models, so Apple will actually bring a lot of capital to the country. Anyway, at $600 a pop, Feroli figures that even with $200 subtracted for imported parts, there’s a trade margin of $400 made per each new iPhone for Apple. That would result in an extra $3.2 billion worth of sales or $12.8 billion on the annual basis. With that amount of money there will 0.33% added to the GNP and even with some users paying less because of carrier subsidy, the figure would still be high. The economist also says that last October brought us the iPhone 4S and a combined sales total of 37 million in Apple models in Q4 alone. This means an improvement of 0.1% to 0.2% in the last year annualized Q4 GNP. And considering the iPhone 5 launch will be bigger, the sum will also be bigger. Related posts: |
Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G Slides Its Keyboard on T-Mobile Starting September 19th Posted: 11 Sep 2012 12:56 AM PDT If you’re looking for a handset with a sliding keyboard, Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G may be the answer. The product is coming to T-Mobile on September 19th and in case the name of the device doesn’t sound familiar, it was previously known as the Galaxy S Blaze Q. The slider will be available with a price tag of $150. Of course, this price involves a 2 year contract, after a $50 mail in rebate, so don’t worry. For the same price you get the older Samsung Galaxy S II, with relatively similar specs, but without QWERTY keyboard. Galaxy S Relay 4G runs Android 4.0 ICS from the start and it offers a 4 inch WVGA display, HSPA+ 42 Mbps connectivity, WiFi, GPS and a 5 megapixel camera at the back. There’s also a 1.3 megapixel front camera and 1 GB of RAM. The brain of the smartphone is 1.5 GHz dual core CPU and other specs include microSD card slot and the famous 5 row landscape QWERTY keyboard. The screen is of the Super AMOLED kind, while the CPU is of the Snapdragon S3 variety. T-Mobile will offer Microsoft’s Exchange ActiveSync on this device. Related posts: |
