iPhone 5 Photos Reveal Thinner Waistline, Side by Side Comparison With iPhone 4S Posted: 06 Sep 2012 09:48 AM PDT I was expecting a flood of iPhone 5 related material to hit the web before the official announcement and the obvious leaks are here. They include components, hands on videos and all sorts of other content. Now we have a side by side comparison between the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5, highlighting the difference in thickness between the two. I already know two of the reasons why the new iPhone is thinner: if features a nano SIM card slot and uses in cell touch technology, that makes the display thinner. As you can see here the front panel of the phone is basically non protruding outside and it doesn’t stand out of the device as much as it did on the iPhone 4S. Repair firm iResQ is behind these leaks, slowly posting on the web parts of the iPhone 5 for the past weeks. Now everything has come full circle and the general design matches previous mockups and rumors. We get to see the audio jack at the bottom, as well as the new 8 pin dock connector, new speaker grilles and new arrangement for the front camera. iResQ says that they’ve just received the iPhone 5 screen assembly and proceeded at installing it on the iPhone 5 back casing. The handset feels great in the hand, or so claim the people who already played with it. From these pics I can spot that the Home button is also a bit tinier. Anyway, we’ll learn everything there is to know on September 12th, when the big Apple launch event kicks off. Related posts: |
Nokia Lumia 822 and 5 Inch HTC Phablet Mentions Found in Verizon Systems Posted: 06 Sep 2012 04:22 AM PDT Although Nokia unveiled only two new Lumias yesterday at Nokia World 2012, more models are expected to come before the year is out. One of them might be the Lumia 822, that was just uncovered in Verizon’s systems, together with a mystery 5 inch phablet from HTC. The HTC phablet has been talked about for a while now and even some pics leaked over the past days. People are expecting a HTC One XXL or One X+ here, either with a Tegra 3+ CPU or quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU. Verizon was the obvious choice for this model, complete with LTE, a big screen with high resolution and Android Jelly Bean. As far as the Nokia model is concerned, it may just be a small variation on the idea of the Lumia 820, announced yesterday with the Lumia 920. Nokia Lumia 822 pops up here in gray and white and the HTC phablet is codenamed HTC 6435. Could this be the Endeavour C2 unit we’ve been hearing so much about? While Nokia World 2012 still goes on today and we might still see the Lumia 822, HTC has an event scheduled for two weeks from now. Related posts: |
Seemingly Real iPhone 5 Booting Side by Side With iPhone 4S (Video) Posted: 06 Sep 2012 01:22 AM PDT With less than a week left till the iPhone 5 comes to life, there’s finally a video with the handset booting up posted online. As you probably expected the video leak comes courtesy of a Chinese tech news site, Vgoo.com. The device pictured here sure looks like the latest iPhone and it’s compared to the iPhone 4S side by side. Obviously, this could be a very good fake, but it’s certainly well made. The iPhone 5 is shown booting up and then encountering an iOS 6.0 error, but I can see that it boots faster than the 4S, which is good news. Basically we’re dealing with an elongated 4S model here, with some modifications in the FaceTime camera area, a switch of the audio jack placement and other minor design changes. The side of the phone looks pretty plasticky, which is a bit underwhelming if you ask me. Anyway, next week, on September 12th, we’ll see Apple unveiling their new phone and that’s a fact. Once again it will happen in San Francisco, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, with Tim Cook on stage, iOS 6.0 also there, the new iPhone and hopefully the iPad Mini as well. I’m particularly curious about the resolution and CPU of the 4 inch iPhone. No related posts. |
Posted: 06 Sep 2012 01:08 AM PDT Nokia and Microsoft weren’t the only ones with an event yesterday, go Motorola and Google had their own launch conference. It was all about a bunch of new RAZR models: Motorola Droid RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD and the new RAZR M. Motorola Droid RAZR HD features a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED HD screen with 85% more color saturation than the iPhone 4S, supposedly. Inside it we find a 2500 mAh battery, good enough for 16 hours of talk time and all of that inside a 8.4 mm thick chassis. Also inside the device there’s a 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. Android 4.0.4 is available at first, with a promised update to Jelly Bean in the future. The 4.7 inch screen supports a 720p resolution and this model will give you LTE connectivity, as well as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. Its back camera is an 8 megapixel unit, with 1080p capture, although I have to admit I was waiting for 13 MP. And then there’s the Droid RAZR MAXX HD, a device with 32 hours of use on a charge, thanks to a kingsize battery. The device also gets 32GB of storage as extra from the regular version. The surprise of the day and the real newcomer is the Motorola Droid RAZR M, that packs a 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED screen without edges, or better said with an almost edge to edge display. While the screen doesn’t cover the entire facade of the handset, it’s pretty close to doing that. RAZR M gets a 2000 mAh battery, a dual core Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz CPU, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, Android 4.0.4, LTE and an 8 megapixel camera. The device will be sold by Verizon in USA and priced at 99 dollars on contract. This product goes on sale next week and preorders are already open today. RAZR HD and MAXX HD will come before the holiday season. Related posts: |
