Samsung Champ Neo Duos Comes With a Stylus and 2.4 Inch Touchscreen LCD Posted: 21 Sep 2012 12:42 PM PDT Welcome to 2005 folks! This is what the handsets looked liked 7 years ago, like the new model shown below. Listed on Samsung India’s online store, this newcomer is the Samsung Champ Neo Duos. As the name says, this is a dual SIM handset with a touchscreen display and stylus. Samsung Champ Neo Duos is actually codenamed GT-C3262 and comes with a 2.4 inch touchscreen and stylus support. The stylus can be flushed at the back when not in use. The screen on board is a QVGA TFT LCD and we also get dual SIM 2G support with hot swap abilities. The hot swapping doesn’t require rebooting, which is pretty cool. There’s also a VGA camera, social networking via Twitter, Facebook and ChatON and Bluetooth on the specs list. Inside there’s a 1000 mAh battery, with a promised talk time of 14 hours. The phone will be available in India at least, for the equivalent of $61. Related posts: |
First Drop Test Between Apple and Samsung Flagship Devices Captured on Video Posted: 21 Sep 2012 09:34 AM PDT Apple has improved the design of the new release iPhone 5 giving it an all metal feel and getting rid of the glass on the back that caused many durability issues. Meanwhile Samsung has chosen an improved form of plastic, polycarbonate to be exact, for their flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III. How will they fare against each other in a drop test? Read and find out. Android Authority is the first willing to settle the debate of which of the two Apple and Samsung flagship devices can better withstand a drop (or a few). There is no doubt that Apple wanted to make a more sturdy device, capable of handling most accidents, while the previous iPhone gen also was pretty tough except the glass on the back. Samsung chose plastic (as the often do) as the main element for flagship smartphone for keeping thee weight (and price) at a good level. After a very thorough drop test between the two, it seems that Apple was inspired with the design of the iPhone 5, and the device came out very well after the drop test, with the aluminium casing and display intact. For Samsung however things don’t look so good. The Galaxy S III lost its back cover and suffered damage to the casing and the front glass. Bellow the video to sort things out: Related posts: |
ZTE Anthem 4G Unveiled, Coming to MetroPCS With Dual Core CPU, LTE; Priced AT $219 Posted: 21 Sep 2012 07:02 AM PDT Looking for a cheap LTE phone? Well, ZTE just unveiled the Anthem 4G, a handset that’s coming to MetroPCS, with a dual core CPU, LTE and a price tag of $219. The device relies on a dual core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor and uses a 4.3 inch 800 x 480 pixel screen and it has an unexpected feature: HDMI video output. This is actually starting to sound like a very good device, especially if you also consider the Dolby Surround sound. The first bummer about it is the use of the already antique Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with the small hope of a quick Android 4.0 update, if they can. You should know that the $219 price tag is without contract, so the product is even more amazing. There’s another catch here: the price tag is without tax and mail in rebate, so you may have to dial down the enthusiasm a notch. MetroPCS says that the offer is available for a limited time in its stores or online and turns out the device also supports the MetroPCS 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot service for an extra monthly fee. So, who’s getting this phone? I’d install CyanogenMod 9 on it instantly after getting it. Related posts: |
Posted: 21 Sep 2012 02:37 AM PDT Straight from MoDaco comes a fresh rumor related to the HTC One X, that’s supposed to receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the update next month. It also appears that at the same time we’ll see the HTC One X+ launched, according to the same source. Of course, carriers will take their time to customize the firmware update, so you will probably have to wait till winter time to get Jelly Bean. HTC One X+ has been leaked a lot lately, both in benchmarks and in specs, that basically are the same as the ones of the One X, minus the CPU, that will be a Tegra 3 1.7 GHz unit this time. It’s not yet very clear if the device will also get a screen size bump, that would make it the rumored HTC phablet we’ve heard so much about lately. I believe that the handset will keep the same screen and only upgrade the CPU. This minor Fall update reminds me of the HTC Sensation XE from last year, that basically brought nothing extra, aside from Beats Audio headphones. The result was poor sales for that model and frankly speaking I can’t see the HTC One X+ performing brilliantly over the next months. The good news here is that Jelly Bean is coming to the One X, one of the best Android phones I’ve seen this year, both in its quad core and dual core Snapdragon iteration. Related posts: |
Xiaomi Mi-One S Sold Out in 4 Minutes! 300k Units Moved in that time! Posted: 21 Sep 2012 01:48 AM PDT Everyone is dreaming of the powerful Xiaomi Mi-Two handset, but in the meantime another Xiaomi model is performing very well. I’m talking about the Xiaomi Mi-One S, an upgrade to the original Xiaomi Mi One handset, that’s priced at 180 euro and just sold out in only 4 minutes. No less then 300.000 models were snatched in 4 minutes and 12 seconds. The handset packs a 4 inch display, a 1.7 GHz dual core processor and 1 GB of RAM, as well as an 8 megapixel backside illuminated camera. There’s also the MIUI customization on top of Android, a selling point for some. The pricing of this model is very competitive and so is the price of the hot Mi Two, that brings a quad core CPU and 2 GB of RAM for just $315. Back to the Xiaomi Mi One S, this device measures 11.9 mm in thickness, weighs 149 grams and supports a 480 x 854 pixel resolution. It has Gorilla Glass protection and comes with a microSD card slot, 4 GB of storage, HSDPA 14.4 Mbps connectivity and Bluetooth 2.1. The 8 megapixel camera at the back does 1080p video capture at 30 fps, while the 2 megapixel camera upfront serves for video calling. Launched in August, this is the third time that the Mi One S has a sellout! Related posts: |
