Nokia N8 Prototype RM-581 Columbus Leaks With Harmattan on Board Posted: 03 Sep 2012 02:42 PM PDT A device strongly resembling the Nokia N8 leaked online and it appears to be a prototype of the famous 12 megapixel cameraphone, dating from back in 2009. Back then the device ran Harmattan, or better said Maemo6. The device never made it to production, but instead it served as a starting point for the N8. The device branding proves that this was intended as a landscape oriented handset and you can see that the lower part is missing, making me wonder what was there. Maybe something that could be a clue for what’s coming next with the new Lumias? Anyway this was certainly N Series material, with a 12 megapixel camera, that would have been crazy in 2009, for the current tech level back then. Harmattan is still considered an advanced mobile OS today, let alone in 2009, so this would have been a hit. Seeing how the N8 was troubled by initial bugs and issues when it first launched, it wasn’t really appreciated for the innovation it brought, although when the price went down and Symbian had its problems fixed, the N8 gained a sort of cult following, among real Nokia fans keen on good imaging tech. Now imagine what others models are being cancelled out there… crazy, right? Related posts: |
Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 Revealed In New Pictures. Wireless Charging Pad Included Posted: 03 Sep 2012 10:02 AM PDT @evleaks showed some pictures of the upcoming Nokia Lumia devices just days ago. The Lumia handsets in question are the Lumia 920 model with PureView camera and the Nokia Lumia 820 that looks very much like the Arrow handset leaked a while back. Today the same source reveals new photos. Nokia is preparing to reveal its new Windows 8 running handsets during an event that will supposedly take place on September 5. Two days away from the official announcement and two new photos showing the new Lumia smartphones have surfaced on the Internet. The design for both devices seems to have been inspired by the current Lumia 800 & 900 models. Specifications for the Lumia 920 include 32 GB internal storage, 8-megapixel camera, dual-core CPU clocked st 1.5 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 4.5-inch display with HD resolution. The device will be labeled with the “PureView” branding even with its “just” 8MP camera as opposed to the 41MP with the PurwView 808. Rear camera features include image stabilization and special camera software for improved image quality. There is also a 1.9MP image senzor on the front. Not much there is to say about the Lumia 820 as details about the model are hard to come by. It is rumored that the device will feature a 4.3-inch display. Both new Nokia models will support Wireless Charging through dedicated accessories that will most likely be sold separately (see image below). Related posts: |
Nokia Lumia 610 Follow-up Codenamed Glory, Coming With Windows Phone 7.8 Later This Year Posted: 03 Sep 2012 09:21 AM PDT September 5th is the date when the new Nokia Lumia models will be unveiled and that will be a very interesting day to be a Nokia fan. Right now we know about the Lumia 820 and 920 models, that are supposed to come, since they’ve just leaked online. Now there’s a fresh leak, the one of the Nokia Lumia 610 successor codenamed Glory. This device is supposed to launch with Windows Phone 7.8 later this year, the replacement OS for WP8, that brings some of its features, but without the same requirements. The Nokia Glory handset is supposed to come with a 4 inch display, 256 MB of RAM and a 800 MHz processor. This means that Nokia doesn’t only increase the screen size for smartphones, but also for its lower end devices. Seeing that the Lumia 900 was too big for its own good, even with a 4.3 inch display, I hope that the Glory has better proportions. If they price this model right and sell it on emerging markets, the new Lumia 610 replacement might end up being a hit. Pricing and carrier offers are key here, but a fluid piece of machinery and some decent specs, never hurt anyone. Would you buy this as a second phone? How about as a third one? Related posts: |
LG Splendor Revealed by Mistake, Coming to US Cellular Posted: 03 Sep 2012 05:00 AM PDT LG’s very own product page has offered a sneak preview on a yet unannounced handset, the LG Splendor. This 4.3 inch WVGA device comes with a single core 1 GHz CPU and it’s pictured below. The type of the CPU is Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon and as far as the design goes, to me this looks like one of those LG Optimus L series units. The specs of the LG Splendor, also codenamed US730 also include 2 GB of native storage, a microSD card slot, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and 720p capture and a VGA front camera. There’s also a 1700 mAh battery on board and Android 4.0 ICS as the OS. Price and availability are a mystery for this device, but what we do know is that the phone comes with the Let’s Go Bowling game preinstalled. LG has pulled the leaked product page by now, but you can check it out in the picture below. Since IFA 2012 is pretty much over, I expect a separate announcement for this model, maybe in a local US event. Hopefully, the price will be decent. Related posts: |
