Video: General’s Thoughts on Lumia 920 Scandal Posted: 10 Sep 2012 06:31 PM PDT General The Destroyer is at once again, posting a new video about the scandal where the Lumia 920 video was “faked”. Haven’t had a chance to watch it as I am at uni, but going off his other videos, you will want to watch it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXArraEidi8&feature=youtu.be
Cheers General for the tip! |

Posted: 10 Sep 2012 02:29 PM PDT We’ve already seen plenty of videos showing the Nokia Lumia 920 destroying the iPhone 4S (and SGSIII) in low light tests. These were, more importantly, LIVE tests done in front of the camera on the phone (and not by overly creative advertising companies). That’s one aspect of the floating lens. Another of course is smoother video. Now iPhone’s digital image stabilisation is one of the better working ones on the market. It’s not perfect but it does a decent enough job. Have you seen the iPhone 4S/iPad keynote? (I’m not sure if that was also simulated, but the differences with/without DIS look quite good). In the video below you can see this OIS (PureView 2) trumping DIS. This is captured by by CCSInsight.
I have a post tomorrow discussing image stabilisation, with samples on stabilised 808 videos. It’s one I’ve been meaning to do since I’ve had the N8 but you know uni and that makes things end up in the back burner. Cheers Peter for the tip! |
Reopening Wounds: ‘Nokia Nexus, the impossible Dream’ Posted: 10 Sep 2012 02:28 PM PDT
Reopening wounds the age old question that you thought had already died. What if Nokia had gone Android. I guess it’s a slow news day but Vlad from TheVerge had been contemplating again what if Nokia had gone Android. He’s enamoured with the pillowy design of the 800/N9 which is seen yet again in the 920. But he’d like the OS to be JellyBean. (iOS is of course no option, but the more I play with my new iPad, I’m glad it’s not). It’s certainly stirred up some comments.
I’m not going to discuss all over again why Nokia didn’t go Android and what Nokia should and should have done on that fateful day. For me, WP works almost just how I want it to. That’s how it is for others too, but there are also others who want/need something else. For those who wanted that design with Android, look no further than the N9 with Nitroid. Cheers Vlad for the tip. |
Video: Nokia City Lens for Nokia Lumia: Augmented Reality Browser Posted: 10 Sep 2012 07:04 AM PDT Here’s a new video from Nokia. I’m bandwidth limited (on a quick break on mobile), the loading screen is stuck. I guess they’re demoing Nokia City Lens.

Gallery: High Fashion Shoot with Nokia 808 PureView – Kunal Jankee’s 808 Gallery Posted: 09 Sep 2012 11:37 PM PDT We’ve seen a couple of posts/videos showing the High Fashion Shoot by Kunal Jankee with the Nokia 808 PureView. In both posts, I’ve been anticipating the actual pictures/gallery of these shots. These can be found at this Album, dated as far back as August 24th.

Video: Nokia N8 versus Nokia 808 PureView audio recording #RichRecording. Posted: 09 Sep 2012 11:32 PM PDT In our Weekend 808 Coldplay post, André Leme shared his video with us comparing the differences between the N8 and the 808 with rich recording. The N8 had great sound quality, but unlike some of it’s predecessors and definitely unlike the 808, it could not handle very loud audio. The 808 however handles it like professional equipment. I don’t even need to switch away from my headphones to hear the clangy sound from the N8 at high volume versus the clarity in the 808. by gzuznegao |
