HTC One X+ With Tegra 3 CPU Reaches the FCC, With AT&T LTE Support Posted: 14 Sep 2012 12:03 PM PDT HTC One X+ has been in the rumors for months now, with leaked benchmarks and other info and now it reached the FCC, complete with support for AT&T’s LTE. This is supposed to be a Tegra 3 device, but one that boasts an upgraded version of the processor, tuned up to 1.7 GHz in frequency. Codenamed PM63100, the new HTC One X appeared in benchmarks as the One X+ and what’s really nice is that finally we get LTE on a Tegra 3 device, something that didn’t happen till now. Usually, Tegra devices were converted into Qualcomm Snapdragon phones or tablets, that supported LTE connectivity with no problem. Now that Nvidia bought Icera they can use their modems and get LTE on their devices with no hassle and they don’t have to fight Qualcomm and their LTE chipsets anymore. Anyway, the HTC One X+ is incoming, but is there any room for it on the market, considering there are rumors about a HTC 5 inch phablet with quad core Snapdragon CPU? We’ll see in the following week or so if it becomes a real product or not… Related posts: |
Acer Supposedly Forced by Google to Drop CloudMobile Smartphone With Aliyun OS in China Posted: 14 Sep 2012 03:43 AM PDT Here’s a strange piece of news that goes against Google’s mantra “Don’t be evil!”. It appears that Acer had to cancel its Chinese launch of the CloudMobile smartphone with Aliyun OS because of Google. The info comes from Reuters, so it’s pretty serious. There was a local event supposed to go down and local journalists showed up to see the CloudMobile, but it was all cancelled at the last minute. Acer CloudMobile with the Aliyun OS made by Alibaba, a local e-commerce company in China was the subject of pressure from Google, that supposedly said it will cease cooperating with Acer if they launch the product. Aliyun OS is seen as a big rival for Android in China and it debuted a year ago on a K-Touch phone. It actually looks a bit like Android, but it doesn’t use any service from Google. Frankly speaking, I can’t believe Google would do such a thing, so let’s wait on their official response to the situation. Threatening a company with the end of your partnership simply for adopting another OS is a thing that’s unheard of in the modern world. Is this the reason why Acer was so nervous about Windows 8? Their CEO publicly criticized Microsoft Surface, saying he thinks it’s a bad idea and the statement came after they launched some crappy Acer Iconia Tab A510 Android tablets with defects. Maybe they should be bought by ASUS, as the rumors say… Related posts: |
LG Optimus G Snapdragon S4 Pro Smartphone Launching on September 19th in Special Event Posted: 14 Sep 2012 02:54 AM PDT HTC is not the only company with a big event scheduled for September 19th, since LG is also preparing a press conference for the same date. Actually it’s a joined LG and Qualcomm event, with the purpose of unveiling the first big brand quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro handset to make it to the market. I’m talking about the LG Optimus G. I sure hope that LG will get a move on this time, unlike what happened with the LG Optimus Vu and Optimus 4X HD, that were announced in February and only NOW hit the US market. Anyway, back to the LG newcomer, this one features a quad core Snapdragon chip, a 1280 x 768 pixel True HD IPS display, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and a 13 megapixel camera at the back. There’s also Android 4.0 ICS on board, with the future possibility of updating to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. LG Optimus G is finally the monster of a smartphone that LG needs to differentiate from the competition. It’s better than the Galaxy S III and the Motorola Droid RAZR HD in specs and better than any Android phone out there. The pricing and launch speed will be key factors in its success… or lack of.
