ZTE Grand X Pro Gets Rendered, Leaked on Twitter Posted: 17 Nov 2012 01:40 PM PST The ZTE Grand X Pro isn’t a smartphone with a name that rings any bells for me, but apparently it’s big deal today, since it has leaked on Twitter. Courtesy of the usual leakster @evleaks we catch a glimpse of this mystery phone, that’s supposed to be a follow up to the ZTE Brand X LTE handset announced on June 19th for Asia and Europe. That model featured a dual core Qualcomm 1.5 GHz processor, an 8 megapixel cam and 720p capable front shooter. Considering the Pro in the name of the newcomer I figure an update is in order and a better CPU wouldn’t hurt, maybe a quad core Qualcomm, accompanied by 2 GB of RAM, since that’s the trend lately. The experience here seems to be vanilla Android, so no software customization on this model, apparently. If we were to speculate, we’d say that this unit uses a 4.5 to 5 inch display, with unknown resolution. Its bezel is very slim, making us think about edge to edge territory. CES and MWC 2012 are very close, with about 2 and 3 months respectively separating us from these events. Will ZTE play a big part in the new wave of Android releases? Related posts: |
Lenovo’s New 5 Inch 1080p Handset is Also a Dual SIM Model Posted: 17 Nov 2012 08:46 AM PST The likes of HTC, Sharp, Oppo and apparently Sony too are working on 5 inch 1080p handsets and some of them have even finalized their models and are ready to put them out on the market. Lenovo also has a similar project and in order to stand out from the crowd, their 1080p device will be a dual SIM one. The Sina Weibo social network from China produced the pictures you see above, showing 3 screenshots of a supposed Lenovo customized UI in 1080p. This means that there’s something brewing at Lenovo that’s a phone with Full HD resolution, some UI customizations and, as shown at the top parts of the image dual SIM action. The screenshots show that the device is connected to China Telecom’s CDMA2000 network and also to the China Mobile 2G network. Engadget’s source couldn’t exactly confirm that we’re dealing with a 5 inch handset, so it said that the device is somewhere between 4.5 inches and 5.5 inches in diagonal, leading us to believe it could be a bigger phablet. We also know that the unit is going through design verification test and it will be announced soon in China. Care to speculate for specs? I’m saying 5 inch screen, quad core CPU, 2 GB of RAM and 8 MP or more camera. Related posts: |
LG Nexus 4 Teardown Shows that There’s a 4G LTE Chip Inside Posted: 17 Nov 2012 08:38 AM PST The guys of iFixit have another device to dissect, this time a handset: LG Nexus 4. The quad core LG Optimus G twin doesn’t come with 4G LTE support, but apparently, there’s a 4G LTE chip onboard, as shown by the teardown. iFixit also gave this product a repairability grade of 7 out of 10, which is decent. As far as the 4G chip goes, it’s a Qualcomm WTR1605L, one that supports LTE networks all over the world, but sadly there’s no 4G LTE antenna or amplifier, so the chip is no use. It could be that LG got lazy and decided to keep the basic LG Optimus G setup, without changing too much stuff for the related model. Other things that the teardown guys noticed is that the battery is much harder to replace than on the Galaxy Nexus. They also found that pressure contacts power the NFC antenna and connect the induction coil for the wireless charging. The battery is a 3.8 V unit, just like the one on the iPhone 5, but this time made by LG itself. The speaker part is hold in place with two screws and no cables, which is good for repairability and also good is the fact that the front facing camera is easily removed. You can learn more about the teardown from our source link below. Related posts: |
