Samsung Has Sold 30 Million Galaxy S III Units All Over the World Already Posted: 03 Nov 2012 05:08 AM PDT Samsung has hit another big milestone, with the aid of its Galaxy S III flagship. It has reached sales of 30 million units of the Galaxy S III all over the world. The number includes both the i9300 version and the carrier modified units sold in countries like USA, Korea and Japan. If you remember, the head of Samsung Mobile, JK Shin predicted such sales, since he said in September that the Galaxy S III would reach 30 million units sold by the year end and here we are. The smartphone already reached the 20 million milestone in September, making the performance even crazier, since it took only 2 months for another 10 million units to be sold. And all of that while the iPhone 5 was on the market… JK Shin also predicts that 20 million Galaxy Note II units will be sold during its life cycle and I expect him to be right again. The 30 million Galaxy S IIIs moved around are even more impressive if you consider that the device hit the store shelves about 5 months ago. With the holiday season coming up, I expect the number to increase by quite a bit and we may even hit 40 million around mid January 2013 or so. Is there any other Android maker out there who can claim at least one third of the units sold by Samsung with a flagship?! Related posts: |
ZTE Flash Render Spotted, Coming to Sprint With $130 Price Tag, 12 MP Camera Posted: 03 Nov 2012 04:58 AM PDT ZTE Flash is a handset we’ve heard of in July, when a bunch of specs leaked and the opportunity to see this model on Sprint was rumored. Now the usual leakster @evleaks posted a picture of the ZTE Flash and revealed that we may be treated with a 12.6 megapixel camera on this newcomer. The device is also pretty rounded and has virtual Android buttons, both features that make me think of Google Nexus Phones instantly. This ZTE handset has a crazy price of $130, which is probably the price tag applied with a Sprint contract. Its specs include a 4.5 inch display, probably with HD resolution, a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and 1 GB of RAM. I guess that at least 16 GB of storage should be on board and a microSD card slot would also be nice. Notice the big hump at the back, a la Pureview, but in a smaller fashion. Also, the texture at the back looks pretty nice and grippy, if you ask me. We expect an official unveiling soon, considering how many leaks happened. If the price is right, we’ve got an autumn hit right here. Related posts: |
ZTE Flash for Sprint Shows Up in Leaked Photos Posted: 03 Nov 2012 04:57 AM PDT It so appears that ZTE is preparing to launch another device this time a Sprint exclusive model. The device is said to feature a mid-range hardware configuration and have a very familiar design. Courtesy of a leaked photo we can get a glimpse of the ZTE Flash that is heading for Sprint in the near future. The ZTE Flash is powered by a dual-core 1.5Ghz chipset. It has a 4.5-inch screen of unrevealed resolution and packs 1 GB of RAM. The design is fairly similar to that of the Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 4. It has on-screen software buttons and an LED notification light in the top side. The ZTE Flash is said to feature a 12-megapixel main camera – one of the highlights of the upcoming device. Arriving for Sprint as soon as this month, the ZTE Flash is rumored to cost only $130 on-contract. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with no word if it might be updated to Jelly Bean. The device could be officially announced on November 11th. Related posts: |
Microsoft Working on Its Very Own Smartphone, According to Wall Street Journal Posted: 03 Nov 2012 02:44 AM PDT Microsoft has already entered the hardware biz by making its own tablet called the Surface and now it plans to launch its very own phone, according to people in the know. Wall Street Journal’s sources claim that Microsoft is also working on a Surface Phone, testing a smartphone with Asian suppliers. It’s not yet clear if this will remain a prototype or actually enter mass production. The phone is supposed to have a screen size between 4 and 5 inches. Previous rumors said that Microsoft was making its own flagship Windows Phone, a device that could be launched before the year is out. Microsoft has really invested into promoting the products of Nokia and HTC, so a Surface Phone is supposed to be a sort of Plan B, if Windows Phone 8 doesn’t gain enough traction. If the Journal’s piece is for real, the plan may be in more advanced stages than we’d have guessed. Does this mean that we should take its launch as a failure of the Windows Phone 8 products and a final resort to save the day? Related posts: |
