Ben The PC Guy Shows Up the Iphone 5 With a Lumia 920

Ben the PC Guy, who we’ve all seen demo off the Windows Phone range in the famous/infamous smoked by Windows Phone competition seems to have a second trick up his sleeve. This time he interrupts a couple dinner to show how much better the Lumia 920′s camera is than the iphone 5 (and does just that).

Although Honestly I can’t help feel that this is a bit staged, but who cares; as long as people get to see how awesome the Lumia 920 is. Now please shorten this clip a bit and turn it into a tv advert. Pretty please.

Michael: I like how he said it was the “best camerphone ever made. Period”. Clearly he has never seen the Nokia 808 PV :p If only Nokia merged the two technologies in a Fabula design (admittedly it will be thick, or several years until its thin enough).

Here’s quite a pretty gallery of shots taken with the Nokia Lumia 920 with some post processing.

It reminds me a lot of that other great looking 808 gallery (with post processing too).

You need a creative eye to see what would make a great picture, a great camera to capture what you see and some skill perhaps should you want to touch it up a little bit more (post process). The result are some great pictures.

Lumia 920 Sales “Better Than Expected”, Completely Sold Out in Germany, Stock Prices Rising

We’ve heard multiple stories about how well/moderate the Lumia 920 is doing in terms of sales; the latest of which states that the Lumia 920 has completely sold out in all of Germany! This latest bit of news has lead to a sharp increase in Nokia’s stock price (over 6% – the highest gain in over a month) pushing the stock price close to $3.00.

Related to the same topic multiple reports have come in that the Lumia 920 sales have “exceeded expectations” which would explain the Out Of Stock in most stores. Of course we’re used to hearing this sort of thing about any product launch; so we won’t know until we some actual figures. But for now as was the with the Lumia 900, the Lumia 920 has topped Amazon’s Mobile Phone sales (on At&t) resting comfortably above the GS3, Note 2 and One X.

Windows Phone Lenses, Smartshoot and Cinemegraph to Come to WP 7.8 devices?

David Akinjise, Product Manager at Nokia let it slip that the WP8 feature “lenses” which gives apps direct access to the camera API, as well as the two lumia exclusive camera features “Cinemagraph” and “SmartShoot” will be coming to first gen Lumia devices in WP 7.8. This keeps making this upcoming update better and better.

Paired alongside the rumor that there will be additional updates to come after WP 7.8; it would seem as if the original Lumias aren’t going to be left too far behind.

Edit: After taking a look at the official Nokia release Cinemegraph and Smartshot are confirmed for WP7.8 , along with “additional Surprises” which I assume will be the lenses feature.

We will also bring Cinemagraph and updates to Smart Group Shot to the existing Lumia devices with some additional surprises to make photo shooting and sharing as easy as possible.

Interesting video from Forbes where they discuss whether Nokia is a better buy than Apple. I wouldn’t really say there was a lot of mention of Nokia directly though a lot of the principles in the discussion apply.

Video: Nokia Lumia 920 promo – Najciekawsze Cechy

Not sure if this is specifically from Nokia Poland (or one of the global videos edited for Nokia Poland) but this seems new to me. It’s a small promo for the Nokia Lumia 920.

Is it clear enough what’s going on or is it just that bit too busy? Well it is titled

“Najciekawsze Cechy” which means “the most interesting features” according to the translator, and indeed it has presented them in a way that shows it in action.

What was done well with the ad? What could have been done better? :)

Here’s a comparison between the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 900 video recording, looking specifically at improvements (if any) by PureView V2 OIS/Floating lens.

This isn’t walking, this is running.

You might also like to check out what the 808 looks like with and without hardware stabilisation for comparison. I’m actually quite amazed the 920 gets that close to a huge apparatus.
