ZTE is the First Company With an Android 4.2 Smartphone… A Low End One! Here’s N880E! Posted: 24 Nov 2012 12:18 PM PST Believe it or not, one of the few companies out there who use Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on their smartphones is ZTE. There aren’t that many handset makers that can brag about having an Android 4.2 device in their portofolio, but ZTE can, since their N8803 handset now runs this OS. The N880E was the first ZTE model with Jelly Bean on board and it was launched in China months ago. This device already sold over 1 million units and now it’s the first to get Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, although its specs are kind of underwhelming. We’re dealing with a device that features a 4 inch WVGA display, a 3 megapixel rear camera, a single core 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM7627A CPU and 512 MB of RAM. Other features include 4 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 1650 mAh battery. ZTE promised to introduce more Android 4.2 models, really putting the company on the map, since even big companies like HTC, Sony or Samsung will take many months before offering Android 4.2 updates. Android 4.2 debuted on the first phone and tablet earlier this month, when LG Nexus 4 and the Nexus 10 tablet went on sale. Related posts: |
The Buzz Around the Nexus 4 Seems to Materialize in the Device’s Earpiece Posted: 24 Nov 2012 12:18 PM PST The Google Nexus 4 is no doubt a great device and one of the best handsets of this year. The smartphone stand out every way you look at it. It features a great design, with Gorilla Glass 2 on the front and back, a powerful hardware configuration, with the Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chip and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. To top it all, the device is sold for only $299 or $349 of the Play Store for the 8 GB or 16 GB version. When you look at it, the LG manufactured Nexus 4 seems to be the perfect device. But like with all new devices, featuring firs seen new designs, there is most times one problem, threatening to ruin the experience. With the Nexus 4, there have been some accidents, causing the back of the phone to break, but that is not the main issue. According to multiple blogs and sites, users have started complaining about the device’s earpiece malfunctioning. To be more precise, there seems to be a weird buzzing sound in the earpiece, causing frustration among the device owners. The cause for this problem is yet to be uncovered. It may be a faulty component or a software glitch that is affecting the handset. Multiple complains have been sent to Google and we are waiting for an official response from either them or LG, to see how the issue gets sorted. Related posts: |
Two of The Best Windows Phone 8 Devices Face Off in Camera Test – Nokia Lumia 920 Vs HTC 8X Posted: 24 Nov 2012 12:00 PM PST These days the camera modules integrated in high-end smartphones are not to be taken lightly. We’re still a long way from having a DSLR in our pocket but close to shooting some great stills using our smartphones. In the recently introduced Windows Phone 8 mobile OS zone, HTC and Nokia each bring powerful multimedia devices, each with it’s own advantages. The Lumia 920 from Nokia integrates the PureView technology for it’s rear camera. While it’s not offering the 41 MP the Nokia 808 PureView features, it has some great optics and is the first to integrate optical stabilization into a smartphone camera module. This means great shots, especially in low light where blurry images are a problem mainly cause of the user not being able to keep the camera perfectly still. HTC is also renowned for integrating some great camera modules in their smartphones and the HTC 8X is no exception. What has started with the inclusion of a HTC One X and the inclusion of an separate chip for processing images called HTC ImageChip, is taken one step further with the HTC 8X. HTC ImageChip offers great low-light performance, thanks to the F2.0 aperture lens and the BSI camera module. It also offers Color Lens Shading correction to balance and refine the color across your entire image and adds Extended Depth of Field to keep more of what’s in the viewfinder in sharp focus, no matter how close or far it is from the lens. Given the large number of technologies included by both manufacturers in their camera phones, it is interesting to see a comparison test between the two. Wpcentral.com has taken the task of unveiling the best at capturing photos between the two. The Result: Nokia’s PureView and optical stabilization technology (right photos) gives the Lumia 920 the upper hand when it comes to capturing photos, especially in low-light. That does not mean that the HTC 8X (left photos) is anything but a great camera phone. It simply means that for camera enthusiasts the Lumia 920 might be the better choice. In the end both devices preformed admirably. Read the entire material at the source link.

Samsung SCH-W2013 Dual Screen Quad Core Phone is Promoted by Jackie Chan Posted: 24 Nov 2012 02:40 AM PST You can count on Asian companies to amaze you with a handset design format that hasn’t been used in a while. Samsung just unveiled a flip phone with dual displays, the typical keitai that will be a hit in Asia. This comes as a follow-up to the SCH-W999, a model that has quite a bit of time under its belt. Samsung SCH-W2013 is the newcomer and it gets pictured below. We’re dealing with a pretty looking handset, with dual 3.7 inch WVGA screens, a quad core 1.4 GHz processor, possibly an Exynos 4 Quad and 2 GB of RAM. SCH-W2013 comes with 16 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and runs Android 4.0 ICS. The cool thing about it is that this product is promoted by Jackie Chan. The only problem with this device is its price tag, since it’s supposed to cost around $3000. For that kind of money, frankly you’d expect it to feature at least 64 GB of flash storage and some rose gold someplace (I said rose gold since parts of it actually look as if they were made from that material). You should also know that the Samsung SCH-W2013 features a 2 megapixel front camera and an 8 megapixel one at the back. So, do you fancy selling your car to buy this Jackie Chan advertised phone?
